I got it recommended too. At first I thought it was going to be a comedy sketch in line with 'The Fast-show', about an eccentric English gentleman, it had all the hallmarks and clichés of being so. It took about a minute or so to realise the fellow wasn't an actor lol!.
I watched it through to the end though, with splendid interest.

Now this is what the internet needs.I find the new technology seems to separate us all so much, sitting down and having a chat with a pint and a pipe makes it more palatable.
I love Tennyson’s work I live very close to his house, the lane leading up to it is called Tennyson lane, I often go camping on the hill which is called (Blackdown) near Lurgashall, and Haslemere in Surrey, it’s steeped in history, last year I worked on a house which once belonged to sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the owners kindly let me have an old fire grate from one of the fireplaces, it’s now in my wood burner and I can’t help but sit here with the fire roaring on a cold winters evening, thinking that once upon a time Doyle, along with some of his friends like Bram stoker, Oscar Wilde and Harry Houdini all sat round this fire grate and had some very interesting conversations.

Now that i' ve found this channel, i get more regretful not having had opportunity to travel back to Britain as that is my ancestral home where we know from family bibles the two original brothers came over from Nottinghamshire in early 1800. I never had a career that paid enough to fund a trip that expansive. Clock repair and restoration does not really make one a lot of money if one is legitimate.lol depends on where you live in the US.
Anyway, i love your little talks as i always feel that spirit of Englishness that is nostalgic to me and gives me that feeling of closer ties to England.
I love the old pubs and Inns, its one of my fave subjects i like to look up videos about on youtube as there are so many good historical presentations and travel videos of people that go around showing them and how they are built inside.
The bad thing is seeing the videos about the old inns and pubs that had to be closed due to the covid economic crash or idiot government forcing a place to go out of business because they want to reroute a road or something.
Really sad to see many of these great places shuttered and no life as a pub or inn should have.

Malcolm you are a beautiful man full of wisdom and thank you so much for being yourself in this world of mass 'content' and the pace of it all. This is not content and is completely genuine. As people have said, we stay because of you, not because of the prize at the end of the video etc etc. Listening to you is so relaxing and very interesting as well. I have no idea how but you resemble the personality of all my grandparents in one soul! You are a hero. Keep it up ol' dude.

I'm a newbie in smoking pipe, but is awesome to me be capable of discovering new things about this world, like this channel, I'm from Brazil, and our pipe smokers community is not so big as English speakers community, and in some time in my search about that I forgot that I speak English kkkkkkk, but to end all my blablabla, I never knew my dad, but if I could choose a dad, it would be someone like you, a man with curiosity and knowledge, you are amazing Sir!!

Pipe and a Pint. I think few things are made for each other. Although Pipe with a strong cup of tea with the shot of whisky in it is an admirable combination too.

I love watching your videos, especially ones where you enjoy a smoke of your pipes and various beverages. You got me so interested in Peterson pipes that I actually researched the company and history of pipe making in Ireland. I was fortunate enough to find a brand new 150th Peterson Anniversary pipe and purchased it...it was the last one that store still had from six years ago! When I listen to you it is like sitting and listening to a wise grandfather with so much life experience to share. I thank you for sharing!

This is what I needed. I’m Navajo so I love story telling like my grandma and grandpa also my parents use to tell me and my sisters when we were kids were the most memorable and beautiful thing ever for me. Also some scary stories too. Since I got older like 12 I’ve been reading books and collecting them, also comic books and graphic novels. Im a bookworm but I don’t tell my friends. J love your stories and pipe collection.

Love these books! Thank you, Malcolm, and for reading your essay.
My father had several Britain in Pictures books in his library and I remember when I was a child being attracted by the covers, especially their colours and wonderful art work, and though not a pipe smoker (wondering if there are any female pipe smokers amongst us?), I reckon the joy of opening a fresh tin of tobacco is as intoxicating to you, as lifting the lid off a tin of fresh Darjeeling loose leaf tea is to me.

yes, they are wonderful little books. My great grandmother used to light her husband's pipe and get it going for him and liked it so much that she took up a pipe herself and they spent their evenings sitting companionably by the ingle nook puffing away

Malcolm, thank you so much for sharing your experiences in Keswick, as I shared a pipe of Samuel Gawith tobacco with you, I was suddenly transported to the Royal Oak, and a longing to savour a pint of Thwaites, me thinks a Pilgrimage that I will have to undertake, and absorb the resonance of travellers and poets past. God Bless. Steve.
