Never even knew there was a track zero on the Yeast cd! Wonder if it is on yootoob? Found Yeast for $1 in a record store bin back in '96 in america Was stoked!!
Yeah I have a feeling there are other track zeros on albums I own that I can't remember. I just searched and couldn't find it. It's about 6.13 or so long and is a dance remix (of course)
Cheers mate it was great fun to do. The link to the pisstske of Duster is in the description as 13th Mangina. Check the channel for the other bands as they are all hilarious
I first heard them years ago in the 1990's, on a monthly New Zealand radio programme about Death Metal, we lived in a remote location so it was very difficult to keep up with the underground music scene at the time. I used to record the programme on cassette tape, and so the first song I ever heard from Blood Duster was 'Vulgar Taste of Rotten C**t', but I could never work out what sample they used at the beginning of the song was. Hopefully someone reading this will have a bit more knowledge on that one. I did get to see them when I moved up to Auckland in the late 2010's, there weren't a lot of people at the gig, but I knew it was one of those bands that was going to have plenty of output, so I went along and had a good time. Cheers for the rock history doc.
Thanks for watching! The Vulgar Taste sample is from probably the greatest NZ movie ever - Braindead! It's from the uncut version of the movie which isn't easy to source and is from the scene in the graveyard where poor Nigel gets hassled by some thugs and the priest saves him in truely awesome fashion
Thanks very much Geoff, that was my bad, I should have realized by the NZ accents. I was actually under the illusory impression that it was from some Australian source, but for some reason I just couldn't place it. I watch a lot of movies too, anyway thanks for your help, I'll make sure I check that film out - lesson learnt.🎥👍
Blood Duster was difficult to find in the States back in 2003 , I managed to find a CD copies of C### in a used section at an extinct chain called Media Play, and a copy of Yeest at a college radio station selling off all their CDs. Internet made things easier, but I kept C### in my car five CD changer for months, I dont play albums to death like that anymore.
yeah it certainly helps being in Australia and I'm glad I saw them live so many times but I can't imagine how many more gigs I would have gone to if I lived in the States!!
I did the live 3 camera video shoot at the Ding Dong bar for the sixsixsixteen cd launch on "The Shape Of Death To Come DVD". The on camera audio was only meant to just be a guide track to be replaced with a high quality Audio recording.
UA-cam algorithm is hammering me with your videos, but that’s a good thing hehe. FYI I think some copies of SixSixSixteen single had a ‘reversible’ sleeve. Have you opened yours up to check inside? You may have the “rude” version and not even know it! ;) Also, you forgot to mention the horrendous track minus-one on the S/T 😅 I have almost all of the items you have, except the one thing I missed is the Fisting/Yeest LP, which I had more than one opportunity to buy at their gigs, so I am absolutely kicking myself.
I'll check my SixSixSixteen but pretty sure it's the tame one as I think I got it from a normal record shop - shame about the Fisting/Yeest LP as it's rare as shit - now that I think about it I think I got it at Missing Link ages ago
@@mendicantmedia I had at least two opportunities to buy it at their shows, but I was not keen on carrying an LP around with me in a drunken state. Foolish me! I did get the C*NT white vinyl though, and they all wrote silly shit all over it in gold sharpie :) Jason was playing that clear bass at one of those shows, and he showed me that it still had gross piss residue in a lot of the nooks and crannies. Wild stuff 😂 Tone also came to my house and did guest vocals on Debloused in the Cumatorium by Maxi P. That was a HUGE honour. He was such a cool guy to hang out with and recording him was a breeze - I can see how he took vocal directions from Jason so easily and latched onto vocal rhythms etc. instantly.
My friend did the same thing with the cassette melting in his car on a cassette I loaned him of the Grind Crusher album. I was so pissed. I'm still kind of bummed about it.
Great stuff mate, always loved Duster. For some reason I don't have my Dr. Jims Nortcote and Cnt anymore, need to get them back. Saw the band a dozen times myself including four M4TB I went to. The most memorable was the old Club 77 where the entire band played naked and from memory there was no actual stage, so everyone got an eyeful. A couple of times I remember Tony not showing up until the third song at least lol. That DFF EP had a nifty trick that, on some CD players, you could rewind before 0:00 and get a bonus track in the negatives called The Spirit Of Sore Throat Has Long Since Died. Oh shit I forgot that Blood Duster Reflex ad! I recorded both versions off TV and had them on my hard drive for ages, but they are long gone (the second version had the boardroom headbanging). And I was at that Haunted gig for the very same reason. I always felt that King Parrot's first album was a spiritual successor to Duster. Don't have anything by that band, but I love the clip fot Shit on the Liver with Rizzo and everyone dressed up like they're in Mad Max haha.
cheers mate. Haha I seem to recall Damaged had a problem with a singer not showing up much. Glad I only ever saw one of them naked! Yeah I appreciate the attitude of King Parrot and they are fun live but just seem to lack the quality tunes of Blood Duster
@@mendicantmedia yep my first ever local band gig was all ages Damaged in 1997. Jamie didn't show up so the guitarist sung a couple, but mostly it was instrumental grind lol
I remember that gig at The Asylum. One of the best gigs that I've ever been, and it was absolutely packed. There was those two dudes in corpse-paint, which was a very rrare occurrence in Canberra. I remember he corpse-paint dudes wearing Burzum shirts, whilst their two girlfriends, who also had corpse-paint, were wearing 90's era fashion clothes, and really didn't look like they wanted to be there. 😅
Greetings from the United States! I just discovered Blood Duster this year and I wish I heard them sooner. I also checked out lead singer Tony's other bands and they're great, too. Still impressed that the vocalist in The Day Everything Became Nothing and King are both also him - he has a lot more range than he's given credit for. You can't really go wrong with any of the band's affiliated projects, though.
thanks mate yeah Tony is a talented bloke and his newish band Remains is also worth checking out remainsmelbourne.bandcamp.com/album/remains-grind-til-death
My ex school teacher is friends with Ray Ahn from The HardOns. Apparently Blood Duster went to him for sick art, and what Ray Ahn gave them made even them think it was pretty fucked haha
Do one on Rupture. If that's even possible. They have a million albums. A good amount of them sound like they were recorded on a ghetto blaster but God damn when you got one of the good ones they are mind blowing. In 96 while I was in high school I made a homemade Rupture shirt.
@@mendicantmedia lust and hate is a great album. Like I said they are really hit or miss. Alot of their recordings sound like they were recorded with a ghetto blaster playing a song they wrote 2 seconds ago but then you will he something that is amazing like the last and hate album
this is fucken ace, the melted fisting the dead tape broke my heart haha edit: Oh mate! You gotta check out the dwarves! catch em when they come out next, they're the fucken best - last time I saw em, Nick Oliveri kicked some guy in the head for pulling the guitarist's feet out from under him mid song, great times at the gaelic! And did you spot JJ LaWhore punchin a cone in the van video on that DVD when it landed? Bitta pod people trivia for ya haha
Amazing work putting this together mate, cheers. Blood Duster are the greatest Australian band of all time!

Rizzo slapped me after I flipped him off at a show.... then pulled me on stage. Best gig ever
haha sounds like a usual Blood Duster show - I miss them heaps
An Aussie institution.
Blood Duster is awesome!
Blood Duster rules, very underrated,🤘🤘🤘
If you feel lousy, wack on some Blood Duster and be cleansed.
feel good grind

Always liked Blood Duster - they were pretty unknown here in the UK - liked em since Yeest ( the Relapse comp ) also a band called Damaged
Damaged bloody ruled. The cds ruled but live they were mind blowing
I lost my shit when you said AdamConradCorpse ripped you off for 5 bucks 😂
Relapse BB I'm assuming?
haha yep good old Reee
One of my favourite bands. There were even known in Ireland in the 90s.
infamous throughout the world no doubt! definitely one of our better exports

I have CNUT on vinyl. I'm not selling it.
very wise - it's definitely a keeper

Man I miss Blood Duster zero fuks givin.🤘
yeah me too - they were always awesome fun and I loved their fuck you attitude
Frankston boys 😎 met tony when i was young through a friend
he's a good lad
the first thing i heard from them was menstrual soap demo... love that
yeah I still love it even if the band hates it - as I said in the video I'm still sad I never saw any of those songs live
Fuck yeah! I work with Scott and he's a top bloke
I don't know him but have only heard good things
Only just found and watched this, I miss Blood Duster, they were always so fucking good, first time I saw them was around 2000 and they always killed.
the best fun live! they really brought out the best (or worst) in crowds too

Haha I still feel bad about the Hecatomb demo as there probably weren’t that many
Awesome work once again , Geoff.
Lots of great memories.
It was a different Alchemist show at the Asylum.
Andy
cheers man I did wonder if it was that gig as I don't remember Alchemist playing Asylum much
Wish I was born in Australia and not the u.s.
We do have a lot of killer bands but the US has plenty too!

Hey Jeff, nice little doco mate, and a really impressive collection you have there,
Cheers mate sometimes it helps being a hoarder
finally someone react this awsome underrared band. loveee them😎🤘🍻
Cheers! I've loved since I first heard the demo and had to share the love

haha you love them
a pretty good video my man, looking forward for more of these retrospective videos from you. Cheers my man!

thanks mate I'm sure there are many more amusing stories about them out there
Awesome video. I can't stop listening to them since we moved to Melb and I keep seeing the Northcote signs.
Also should have known not to eat lunch while watching this
