watch her HS junior yr "4th in the world age group" 5K run 15:37 time. she honestly lapped the last place runners 4 times and the 2nd place girl a 3rd time w/about 100meters to go.
Saw her run in the NY State X Country championship last fall in upstate. Cold, snowy, crappie day. Wind blowing right off Lake Ontario. She won her race by 44 seconds.....
She's like a machine!! Her form, body positioning, stride, head position, arm position and movement ..... never changes!!! Reminds me of the Posse chasing Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. They never broke formation, never went faster or slower, never stopped, never got tired.
Her rhythm and cadence is exemplary, very little wasted movement in her action. Steady makes fast, and fast makes victory. If you watch some of the other runners in that race, you'll notice uneven cadences in some of them. Arm swings that swing forward at a different rate than backwards, shoulders blades that rotate forward and back with each stride rather than keeping them more static, even the amount of hair on the head can make a difference. She is an excellent runner, the best in the nation at this point.
Agreed. Torso and head have almost no movement at all. Focused motion. In comparison, the other girls look like ragdolls in the agitate cycle of a washing machine. In the third lap her arms and legs lost a bit of precision and sharpness of motion... and will power took over. I remember what that feels like. Nothing feels more "alive" than crushing your physical barriers with the hammer of your will. Congrats Katelyn.

Wow, just amazing. Looks like she's sprinting all the way but does barely lose any speed at all. I really wish her the best and that she continues into the senior. Would be so fun to see what she could do in like 5 years.
Aside from praising her about her victory, can we just take a moment to appreciate her nice stride? It is one of the best strides I've seen in a long time. Great race against the clock
Thanks for posting and OMG this girl is something else. What a gorgeous stride she has. Been watching videos of her setting longer distance records. But this was darn impressive. Man I just pray everything goes right for her the next few years. Selfishly it would beyond fun to watch her keep setting records. GO KATELYN!!!

From the very start the pedal was to the floor and never slowed and the last lap she even found yet another level , how , great lungs, strong heart, amazing determination , all of the above with extraordinary grit. Not what Is usually on my playlist, glad it came up, expect to se her star rise
Its inspiring and motivational as a parent, to see her go straight to her parents makes it emotional for all of us parents that have kids doing sport, what an amazing young lady, just incredible.
An amazing accomplishment from a gifted and hard-working athlete. KT has been stunning crowds and the national running scene for several years. She keeps getting stronger and faster. It is a wonder to watch her powerful strides and clear determination.
A grocery store is located 1 mile from Katelyn's house. Mom says could someone run and get me some milk. Of course Katelyn says I'll do it. Meaning she literally is going to RUN for it. Any excuse to go run. 15 minutes later she's back with the milk. Katelyn says, sorry it took so long. I should have been back sooner. Couldn't find the milk fast as I wanted to.
I am not an emotional man. I teared up, not letting a drop fall, but I know what you went thru to get there. My father was an All American runner, I know the training, I know the goals, I know the dedication, the obsession, and to see it develop into this is amazing. Katelyn Tuohy, if nothing else you are a GREAT runner and an inspiration to many if not all runners. Keep the obsession, keep the dedication, keep the stride, and always shoot for beating yourself because there is no one else to beat at this point. You go girl!
I sit here in nashville TN but grew up in upstate NY and I was a distance runner into my late 20s having posted some decent times back then . I was one who blossomed well after high school and college, but none the less it just occurred to me she has matched my high school times for 1600 and 3200 . There's no telling how fast she will running 5000m in 10 years, 14min 30 sec maybe.
Wow, this video gave me the chills, she is so determined to break the record, she is running against a ghost, she is running against herself, she is pushing herself to her physical and mental limits, amazing stuff.
Notice how the other runners do not pump their arms nearly as much as Katelyn does. Her fists are chin high throughout the entire race. Pumping your arms faster will cause you to run faster.
The Secretariat of high school milers... Sometimes, it's enough to make a day by taking just five minutes of one's life to appreciate excellence. Whether or not she goes on from here doesn't matter. She will always have this day.
Dinh Le I that is disgusting, why would you ever think that. Being a runner myself, I know the feeling of achieving a major accomplishment such as a PR or but let alone the fact of getting a National Record. And to be automatically given the title “100% Doping” after running faster than you is just a disgrace when clearly she puts in more work then you will get do in a life time. It is purely hard work and effort not substance.
Neal DoubleAA ever heard of Lance Armstrong? This is a good example of why not to dope. He was stripped of seven Tour de France titles because he violated the Anti-Dope code. So in conclusion, you can put in more work but you will not be able to compete fairly with others who do not.
She is so inspiring. I think of her and try to channel her spirit when I'm riding my bike to work. It helps me focus my energy in my body and in the moment. And just to have a good, intentional attitude.
Her form is absolutely amazing. The way she throws he legs in front of her but they remain stride and composed is perfect. And she drives her self with her arms flawlessly.
It's crazy how she beats my mile time by a whole 2min. I consider myself a good runner, but I genuinely don't think that I could ever get within 1 minute of her time. She's insanely talented. Also a shout-out to the girl who was 2nd, because she is a great runner too!
@@brando3465 6:30 for a women is certainly a good runner. Not an elite runner, and not a time that would ever make you competitive. But I would say it's higher than the vast majority of the general population. Which should probably at least qualify as good.
I graduated high school in Texas back in 1978. I wasn't on the track team, I played football. However we were timed on the 40 yard dash, the 440 yard dash and the 1 mile run several times a year. I remember my goal on the 440 yard dash was to break 60 seconds which I did my last year. My goal on the 1 mile run was to break 6 minutes which I never did. She beat me by almost 2 minutes. I 'might' have been able to keep up with her for the 1st 800 yards but I would have dropped right there on the track while she kept going. Her performance was nothing short of outstanding....
Watching this race and trying best I can to get the lap times. They basically were 68.5, 68.5, 69.0 and 68.0 minus the .12. So just think if or when she develops a devastating kick? Crazy!!
crazy for sure but I don't think she'll ever develop a kick. could be wrong but from my experience runners like her rely on even splits because they don't have a strong kick.
No kick coming. People always use their speed if they have it. I ran my races just the same. Pure aerobic capacity and pain. She’d have been breathing down my neck for sure.
She may have a kick but you shouldn't see it in that race. A good runner would run even splits in a race against the clock. Kick is a strategy tactic, it has to do with judging the opponent and your position in the race and trying to win. From a biomechanical perspective, it's not used for the best possible time/distance.
Jacklynn Bowling I relate. I used to be super competitive with all my sports and extracurriculars. I burnt out. It became too much. And now I just run at an easy pace to get some exercise as it’s not that uncomfortable and just enjoyable. I don’t mind if ppl are faster than me

Good info, thanx! :) I look forward to seeing her run in the future.
Me too! :) You're welcome.
I can finish a Big Mac under 4 minutes.
Wtf 😂
You should try a big mac mile.
2 beers
And nobody can take that away from you. Don’t you let them even try
I can do it in under 45 seconds
I've never seen any professional runner - male or female - with such a perfect efficient running style except for Kipchoge
Eluid kipchoge
Mary Decker
Er... right 🤣
Paul Chelimo
@@9Ballr good call
As a former track athlete in my 40s I still feel the adrenaline when I watch these videos. Great run.
I don't get how I look like I just got shot after a hard last lap. Somehow right after they finish these elite people are walking around, hugging, etc. ??
@French Bulldog 1 she is not a cheat. She runs from training and hard work, something you probably don't know
French Bulldog 1 there are good runners out there that don’t do drugs
French Bulldog 1 one of the girl runners on the team at my school could be close to doing that in her sophomore or junior year
French Bulldog 1 bro why the fuck are you typing like you’re writing a goddamn telegram? What’s with all the caps and spaces before punctuation? You that mad a girl can still stand after running?
French Bulldog 1 I think it’s illegal to test a minor.
Had this been a 2000m she would have lapped the pack!
She did in the 5k when she set another record. This girl is **on fire**!!!
watch her HS junior yr "4th in the world age group" 5K run 15:37 time. she honestly lapped the last place runners 4 times and the 2nd place girl a 3rd time w/about 100meters to go.
Tuohy has such incredible control over her body and her emotions. On that last lap her expression was so neutral.
Very focused.
So we'll keep a lookout for her during the Olympics
Saw her run in the NY State X Country championship last fall in upstate. Cold, snowy, crappie day. Wind blowing right off Lake Ontario. She won her race by 44 seconds.....
Her form is so perfect
@Jake - Who you callin' pedophile?
As a Colo. State 2 mile medalist ('68) her displayed diaphragm muscle tone and lung capacity are a beauty to behold! .... Best future wishes for her.
Other runners? Never saw the other runners.
So your saying if she shaved her head off she be faster than usual Bolt lol.
1:23 I'm the girl in the back, behind from the start
(EDIT- NO I WAS NOT LITERALLY THE GIRL THERE I DIDN'T SEE THESE COMMENTS HAHA, i was just making a joke because that would be me running IF I WAS IN THE RACE!!, i'm not the best runner!! but yes she is amazing, she is amazing to be in this race already!!)
Ellite Equine At least you were there and tried your best!
Hi! I just saw this video and your comment. Just the fact that you made it into this elite group of runners says a lot for your capability as a runner. No shame in coming in last out of a group like that. Best of luck with your future endeavors!
Lol, she’s not saying that she was literally the girl in the back. She’s just comparing herself to her as being “behind from the start”
@@o3_o3_28 Thanks, I thought she meant that literally, rather than figuratively. Especially since the comment above me was supportive too & had no response that said differently.
+Jackalski57 It’s an easy mistake to make with no evidence to the contrary! Have a good day
it just got dusty in here, imagining her happiness. well done, Katelyn
Dinh Le How? Complimenting someone's stride is creepy? I have no idea how you came to your conclusion.
Jonah Cuestas Literally not creepy whatsoever but okay. Millions of people watch national records. Olympics are the same way. Simon Biles, etc.
She is such a big inspiration to the running community!
If she keeps getting better she's on pace to win the Olympics someday
You can't say anything nowadays without someone getting offended. He literally said nothing creepy whatsoever.
She's moving like a tremendous machine.
Excellent reference!
Exactly my thought at the wide shot at 5:07
I am almost 72 years old. I read the comment about her head, shoulders and arms. I tried this morning to throw my arms more back behind me and as a result I ran a 5 k on the treadmill as my personal best. It really made a difference. I ran before with no training Thank you for the advice commentators who know running. I hope to do very well in the 5 k runs this year in Florida. I am aiming at 27 or 28 minutes. Wish me luck me luck. This young woman inspires me

This is about the best form I’ve seen in quite a while. She is a very gifted runner indeed. Wish her all the best!
I cant run to my mailbox. I am getting into shape starting tomorrow!
burymedeep 2093 don't cheat yourself now
burymedeep 2093 - LOL! I feel you! And my mailbox is only 2 flights down! 😂😢
burymedeep 2093 how is it going
GroceryBag Hi there grocerybag its going quite well. I started lifting weights again after 15 years of nothing. Im not actually overweight about 200 at 6ft. But I was a couch potatoe. A gym opened across the street that I had been passing daily for 6 months and finally i signed up no more excuses. The soreness is gone from the first few weeks fortunately I lifted extensively tjroughout the 90s so it isnt too bad getting back in shape. Thank you for asking
So it’s been three months ? How has that body reforming been?
I can't tell if I'm seeing a perfectly tuned machine, or a great work of art. Either way, Katelyn smoking up that track is mesmerizing.
whoa, thats incredible
From the very start the pedal was to the floor and never slowed and the last lap she even found yet another level , how , great lungs, strong heart, amazing determination , all of the above with extraordinary grit. Not what Is usually on my playlist, glad it came up, expect to se her star rise
Its inspiring and motivational as a parent, to see her go straight to her parents makes it emotional for all of us parents that have kids doing sport, what an amazing young lady, just incredible.
68.5, 68.7, 69.0, and finished with a 67.6. I believe the kids would say, “Crushed it.”
"Killed it. She dusted the competition."
my favorite part was her going straight to her mom lol
Actually looks like she went to Dad first, but sure.
lol, she went for her dad.
Almost didn’t make it up those 2 stairs to meet her mom. Looks like a controlled “push” the whole way with no finishing kick needed.
That girl is unbelievably awesome! I don't see a single girl that has her form while running. Pure efficiency!
Ok, I actually chuckled a bit. I'll give you a couple of humor points.
Gregg Powers if she was a long distance runner
She is a distance runner. This is the shortest distance that Katelyn set a High School record in.
Gary Raymond oh ok lol I didn't know thanks for letting me know though
+Noel Chavez She holds the US HS 5K record & the World 5K record for 15 year old females.
She'll be competing in Tokyo in 2020.
No, too young to compete at that level. 2024 will her year !!!
IronClad292 at the rate she’s going she could
She probably won't make it to Tokyo but she probably will Paris and she will almost certainly get gold in Los Angeles.
Man, that girl was front running the whole race! She's on another level, that's some Prefontaine shit.
She will be the best ever. Pure incredible.
She better improve substantially.
Have you watched Grace Ping? She will be right on her heels.
Let's watch our for her internationally!!
Just wait until the PC Democrats have her running against 10 shemales, just so they can posture as progressive and for diversity.
Wow, this video gave me the chills, she is so determined to break the record, she is running against a ghost, she is running against herself, she is pushing herself to her physical and mental limits, amazing stuff.
That’s the pace eliud kipchoge runs at for 2 hours LOL
Daniel Austin why u hatin u can’t run that pace for a minute without getting tired LOL
Itz Zero I wasn’t hating I was highlighting how insane kipchoge’s pace is
@@insulinjunkee Kichoge' s pace is 8 second faster than this.
He’s also a grown adult male with pacers lol
Kipchoges achievement is so unfathomnable tbh
Notice how the other runners do not pump their arms nearly as much as Katelyn does. Her fists are chin high throughout the entire race.
Pumping your arms faster will cause you to run faster.
The Secretariat of high school milers...
Sometimes, it's enough to make a day by taking just five minutes of one's life to appreciate excellence. Whether or not she goes on from here doesn't matter. She will always have this day.
Wow! I literally got tears in my eyes. That's incredible!
And I'd just be happy to be able to run a 6 minute mile again.
And how many 100s of millions of dollars were raised for cancer research because of his "smoke screen"??
She is so inspiring. I think of her and try to channel her spirit when I'm riding my bike to work. It helps me focus my energy in my body and in the moment. And just to have a good, intentional attitude.
Her form is absolutely amazing. The way she throws he legs in front of her but they remain stride and composed is perfect. And she drives her self with her arms flawlessly.
That was amazing! Everyone at that event should have been on there feet and making all kinds of noise.
Thank you for the upload! Hell of a runner and competitor. She would have handed me my ass back in high school lol
Such core strength at such a young age, simply amazing. I look forward to following your long and successful career.
It's crazy how she beats my mile time by a whole 2min. I consider myself a good runner, but I genuinely don't think that I could ever get within 1 minute of her time. She's insanely talented. Also a shout-out to the girl who was 2nd, because she is a great runner too!
Your not a good runner if you run a 6:30
@@user-gy5oc3bz2p You're not a good speller. 🙃😀
@@dwe213 doesn't make what they said incorrect tho
@@brando3465 6:30 for a women is certainly a good runner. Not an elite runner, and not a time that would ever make you competitive. But I would say it's higher than the vast majority of the general population. Which should probably at least qualify as good.
@@The_Taken_Names I’m referring to high school runners, not just all runners in general
Wonder woman. That, she is. I am always in awe watching her run.
Nice job tracking the splits and thanks for the post.
I concur but then again I never have seen her need a kick!
She was at my meet today and I was shook
Taryn Patricia omg i met her at a meet once and she ran the race before me
She has amazing form, as she’s running only her legs and arms move the rest of her body stays in place. 🙌
Words just can’t describe just how amazing this young girl is and what she can accomplish is boundless!
One of the best performances I’ve ever seen. There just was no slowing down....incredible. And I’m from New York.
Track gives me so much anxiety I’m glad I only throw now (my event was the 800)
Jacklynn Bowling I relate. I used to be super competitive with all my sports and extracurriculars. I burnt out. It became too much. And now I just run at an easy pace to get some exercise as it’s not that uncomfortable and just enjoyable. I don’t mind if ppl are faster than me
@@NegativeAccelerate i was at 2:03 as a freshman but i never improved lol
Her strides are INSANE! Damn, this girl is what, like, 160cm? Her legs must be so powerful, she is such an inspiration xxx
0:18 omg Grace Connolly goes to my high school, she just graduated but damn, that's amazing
What a superstar.
Literally brought tears to my eyes wtf.
Its beautiful to see such supreme skill
For a while, I thought that I was watching Secreteriat in 1973's Belmont...
Spike Baddachino ..I'm thinking me too. Her.heart must be huge..her cardio is un freekinbelieveable
She was by herself the whole race, WOW!
Pace was amazing. Her splits effectively never changed.
I ran track all through high school (grad 69)....48 second qtr mile (we didnt do meters yet) anchored a mile relay in 3:18.7....but this girl ws as smooth a runner as I have ever seen. I look forward to seeing her in the 2020 Olympics. Wow can she pick em up and put em down.
WOW! She is a great runner, athlete and person. Congratulations on this record.
Wow! congrats! and no one was pushing her. she did it all by herself. Great!
98 F heat. Her time would have been even faster had it been 60-65 F. 2nd best runner ever next to Mary Cain.
Mary Cain has the international female age records for age 14(4:40.1) & age 16(4:28.25); Gunvor Hilde of Norway holds the age 15 record at 4:36.0 .
That’s motivational as hell!
👍
Still awesome to see her run this 4 years later with all of her phenomenal talent, focus, and determination.
Fantastic Katelyn! You are an inspiration to every athlete and every one of us.
SHE'S RUNNING LIKE A TREMDOUS MACHINE
Damn, that girl was running like she thought I was chasing her! Nicely done young lady
You know it's a fast mile when the entire video, with intro and outro included, is 6 minutes and 40 seconds long.
I'm from Russia. And for 4 years now I've been rooting for Katelyn Tuohy as if I were my own. She is a very talented girl. I wish her health and great victories! She reminds me of a very
talented, young Russian skier, Olympic champion, Veronika Stepanova.
She's incredible. I'm a new fan. She's got me watching NCAA track and field....for the first time. I love it. The running, triple jump, pole vault, all of it.
she looked to be in incredible shape, and was in the zone, pushing it strong all the way. breathing wasn't labored, really strong race.
Great run. Katelyn's form is really good. May you continue to improve. Enjoy your running.
This video gave me butterflys just thinking about track.
The whole country loves her. what courage and strength to train to get to that level.
Mary Cain ran a mile in 4:24.11 indoors! She was 17 years old. And 4:04.64 in the 1500, which would translate somewhere in the 4:20-22 range.
