  • Watch 12-year-old Grace Ping tear up the high school girl's 5K gold race in a winning time of 18:12. The Cotter standout beat high school senior Judy Pendergast for the individual win by four seconds. The impressive performance was just one of many for Ping, who holds six world records for her age group, including an 18:02 5K on the track which she ran last year at the St. Mary's University meet.

    Some things you might have missed if u weren’t paying attention
    1. Grace Ping is in Seventh Grade
    2. From the time she starts to the time she finishes she is in Seventh Grade the whole time
    3. The girl who won the race was in seventh grade
    4. She beat girls who are older than 7th graders
    5. And last BUT NOT least the announcer makes gReaT ciRCleS(oh and Grace Ping is in seventh grade)
    You are welcome

      Caroline Cushing also Grace Ping is a “future stud” (ie 7th grader) who is beating straight up “studs” (12th graders)!

    • @Darr247
      @Darr247 4 роки тому +40

      You apparently missed that her and Pendergast are studs, too... and the software is circularizing his points, when he manages to connect the end to the beginning... when he doesn't, it leaves them as he drew them. Oh, and 7th grader Grace Ping is likely a junior or senior by now.

    Since this was 2016, here's the update:
    By 2019, her family had moved to Arizona, and she and her younger sister Lauren, as a high school freshman, were regularly placing 1st and 2nd in high school races in Arizona, at ages 16 and 14. They were students at Desert Vista High School
    Having an injury during the 2019 season, she placed 30th in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship race in San Diego in December 2019.
    According to MileSplitUSA, she has committed to attend Oklahoma State University after she will graduate from high school in 2021.

      And Lauren Ping was a second off of the record for the mile at 4:44. They both used to live in Minnesota and went to Cottor high school. Two years after she moved the team she used to be on in Minnesota, won sections and went to an alternate state meet.

So I see why it’s upsetting, but if you actually understand how crazy what Grace Ping did is it makes sense why he is so hyped up about it. Also, it’s his first time seeing her run so that makes it even crazier for him.

    I first saw this video when I was in 10th grade, and it's a big reason why I joined my high school's cross country team. I thought, "a 7th grade girl can run an 18:12 for a 5k, how hard can that be?"... and boy I was in for a real tough time. I finished cross country that year with a PR of 23:40... Then I realized how much work it took to achieve that 18:12. By the end of my 11th grade cross country season, I was down to a 20:42. And by the time I graduated high school, my 5k PR dropped to an 18:48. I am still dumbfounded to this day by how a 7th grade girl ran a 5k in 18:12. One thing I do understand now is that some people, like Grace Ping, were born with genetic gifts for this kind of athleticism... I was not.

      @@justinthekid8042 I believe in u!💪. Running a 21 is really good in my opinion and yes if u put in the hard work I believe u can get sub 20s. This is my first year of cross country and Im 11th grade. I have asthma tho😥. So far my fastest 5k time is 20:41. My goal is to get sub 20s or 19s before season ends. But keep uo the great work and keep training hard. Hard work pays off in the end👌
