Wrong. The story is a very young runner is beating 16 and 17 year old's and has already set world age group records which surprisingly the commentators did not know about.
Great job Grace Ping, what an awesome race and an at-a-girl for not being intimidated by the older girls! Some great battles at the home stretch! Thanks for the RIDE and "KEEP ON KEEPIN ON"!!
Your not wrong, they always look up to the WR holders that are on the top, but they almost never look at the middle ground (like Mo Farah who ran a time of 12:53 for a 5k, the 5k WR for the men's side is 12:35) definitely kind of a little sad, but I mean we cant really do much except look at the middle ground ourselfs
How was she not on the radar for this race at the beginning she was a world record holder in the 5k for a 10 year old at 18:02. She's something special I hope she has continued success.
I just finished my cross country season, and it is so stressful waiting for the gun to go off! I could only imagine what these girls are going through! It's sort of satisfying for you to be on the other end, and not on the line.

Grace Ping beat everybody. She didn't beat Pendergras. Pendergras was by far the best of the rest. Without her Grace Ping would have been on her own for the whole race! I can't wait to see what Ping will do in the future. She keeps this up, she will be an Olympian and perhaps a gold medalist!
Of course it looks easy....it's running. There's nothing difficult looking about running at all. All of the struggle comes from within which you can't see.
Grace plays this win down as to not as big of a win as people make it out to be. I believe it to be the race that made Grace the star she is. The fact is, it has been watched over 4 million times is a big statement. Watched by every Cross Country Team in the nation, giving the youngest of runners hope and a dream. Giving courage to girls to run and make a difference. This is a big deal to so many. When you see a child so young, do something so big that only a few achieve in a life time, you must become a fan! To put in the effort and make the sacrifices, because you have a dream, is indeed living the dream!

Good race and very impressive run by Grace Ping, but the commentators were ill-prepared. They were almost 12 minutes into the race before the commentators figured out who had been in the lead two the whole time. And a lot of silence during the video could have been used to tell us when they hit the mile markers or Kilometer markers, so we could know their split times.
They said the first 1km time. They said when they hit the 3km. He was giving times the whole time just some were estimates if where they would be by a certain point in the race and he was close a few times.

Grace is going places I’m sure, but second place was not the stiffest competition against a phenom.
She’s still a good runner but she really dropped.. usually when you’re this good at such a young age it tends to take a toll on your body because of how fast you are running and how hard you may be training to run fast

Would've enjoyed more this race without the commentator
Ikr
Just mute the volume
could have done without the map as well
Then turn it on mute,right?
I would have enjoyed it without the diversity
she may be a future champion very nice to watch thanks for sharing
Not to crush her dreams, but the Olympic runners were running around 17 minutes at that time. It is still a great time, just not Olympic worthy.
Clax Yeah but remember she still has another 4 years at least to train if she intends on competing at the Olympics
S Chan 99.9% of girls slow down as they get into HS. She'll slow down to around 18 minutes. you need around 15 minutes to qualify for the Olympic Trials for girls. 14 for guys.
Thomas Paulson That's my 4k time XD
fred wilson she may she will
Wrong. The story is a very young runner is beating 16 and 17 year old's and has already set world age group records which surprisingly the commentators did not know about.
My god, when you were doing your crappy graphics of the course, Grace Ping was taking the lead and you failed to cover it.
Colonel Angus LOL
What's up Macy q
Colonel Angus lmfao. Crappy graphics of the course. So true
Chakram I am currently trying to sell you XD
Miles Ralls lol sameee. Just got one from a trade up. I REALLY want white painted Chakrams lol
Great job Grace Ping, what an awesome race and an at-a-girl for not being intimidated by the older girls! Some great battles at the home stretch! Thanks for the RIDE and "KEEP ON KEEPIN ON"!!
No lie I feel bad for everyone else who basically got completely ignored. They still had great times, jeez
*When people were walking across the course I got a bit of anxiety because I run that distance too and it always toys with my emotions🤣*
Same when I get to the end I’m either pissed or crying 😂
Like why do they feel they need to cross it so much??? So disrespectful to the athletes
my momentum ruined :')
I don't even run and it annoys me.
Yeah some people did that to me and I had to slow down like IK I’m really slow and not important but like I’m trying to do something here 🥲
Commentators keep on saying the same thing "7th grader beating a senior, grace ping beating ...)
Dad; "Can I give you a ride to school?" Grace; "No thanks. I'd rather run!" lol Wow!
How was she not on the radar for this race at the beginning she was a world record holder in the 5k for a 10 year old at 18:02. She's something special I hope she has continued success.
goldsilverandiamonds but she can’t improve lol
I started running at 14 and I can run 16 minute 5k at 15
@@harryspringfield6970 Imao she was 12 at the time of the race, and don't flex yo times without evidence
She was also the record holder as a 12 year old at 16:44. But a long way to go to compete with the Kenyans.
MeBituman bruh she peaked at 12 amirite

I actually laughed so loud just now! Great comment 😂😂
@@bethannprather1462 I'll tell her😃😃 Took me a second to get it, then I cracked up, too.
😂😂😂😂
Or if Ping was her middle name and Pong her last.
That’s hilarious! I would never have thought of it. Thanks. I laughed out loud.
I just finished my cross country season, and it is so stressful waiting for the gun to go off! I could only imagine what these girls are going through! It's sort of satisfying for you to be on the other end, and not on the line.
Luke Humphrey it's only stressful when it's a big meet with 500 kids on the line, smaller meets are way better
TriangleTrees it's only stressful when it is a race do you not get nervous or something
UnafraidSafeGaming - same
I can relate, I'm awful at the line at a big race 😂
Luke Humphrey ikr
Fantastic race!! Nice effort. Looking forward to seeing Grace Ping, Pendergast and the rest in the future. Could be seeing Ms. Ping in the Olympics!!! What a beautiful and powerful running style she has. Amazing talent.
That's what I've been thinking, I hope to see her in the Olympics as well.
She will burnout before she's old enough
She won't even make trials. I ran a 17:41 as a 7th grader, and I never got any attention, besides at nationals. Olympic runners were running low 17's at this age.
I hate racing but I love running :( My fastest 5k is 18:27 and im and 11th grader, and everytime I finish running i feel like barfing my heart out but the feeling you get when you know you accomplished or finished a race feels great
DsD_Savage that’s really good this is my first year ever running and im 14 and I run 21s I’m hoping by next year I can run sub 20s what do you think?
@@justinthekid8042 I believe in u!💪. Running a 21 is really good in my opinion and yes if u put in the hard work I believe u can get sub 20s. This is my first year of cross country and Im 11th grade. I have asthma tho😥. So far my fastest 5k time is 20:41. My goal is to get sub 20s or 19s before season ends. But keep uo the great work and keep training hard. Hard work pays off in the end👌
Just don't make the mistake of skipping long runs, do one once every week, don't worry about distance just focus on a long time and go at a easy to moderate pace
i’m 12 and my 5k is 22:04 any tips
DsD_Savage Once I was running a 10 km but on the 8th km I had stomach pains you get from a cold... you know what comes out of that. It felt nice relieving myself at the end from... that. Still I proceeded to eat ice cream.
I have had the fortune of watching her run for the past couple of years and it’s been astounding, she is an insanely good runner!!!
Your comment makes no sense. She finished ahead of Pendergras which means she did beat her.
What in the fuck are you trying to say?
It looks so easy I swear, but Ik how hard it is😂😂
Horse Lover Gamer, that's just my opinion, and in my eyes it does look easy because of the way the cameras are moving.
Of course it looks easy....it's running. There's nothing difficult looking about running at all. All of the struggle comes from within which you can't see.
They made it look easy.
Kaylah1. Fym looking at them run makes me burst into an asma ataack
Kaylah Rose lol same
Grace plays this win down as to not as big of a win as people make it out to be.
7th graders mostly haven’t started vaping yet , perfect conditions for a nice run
You'd be suprised the generation below me are a different breed😂😂 Im only 22 and Im appalled by a lot of these little kids
Ha ok sure maybe where you live
@Accidental Genius ha , well I have to admit , but not endorse “mmmm wish anyone to do “ smoking in the boy’s room , just like the Motley Crue song , look it up kid , it’s real music , but tobacco products are MOSTLY bad , there are specific times , uses , both medically, socially and ceremonially...but YOU must be wise to decide , so study with a keen interest and attention, then proceed at YOUR own educated perils, good luck
@@makesmartTROYces yeah, I know a few 7th graders that vape and Im just sitting here like, when I was in 7th grade I didn't even know what a vape was

mistic- wolf seroiusly????i ran 2k and im 9
Man... I ran cross country a bit in high school and my best was like a 22:59.. To be able to run a 20 minute 5k is an accomplishment in and of itself. It would have been nice to hear more love for the other runners too, although what Grace did here is indeed incredible.
I’m at a 17:55 as a freshman
That's fantastic! Keep it up man. :)@@carterthompsonruns

i mean the circle was kinda nice
They should get drones for these things
Good race and very impressive run by Grace Ping, but the commentators were ill-prepared. They were almost 12 minutes into the race before the commentators figured out who had been in the lead two the whole time. And a lot of silence during the video could have been used to tell us when they hit the mile markers or Kilometer markers, so we could know their split times.
They said the first 1km time. They said when they hit the 3km. He was giving times the whole time just some were estimates if where they would be by a certain point in the race and he was close a few times.
Wow…second time watching after a while, still amazing. Every one of those runners are great, but Grace Ping stands out. Incredible 🤩Keep it up
Jesus the feeling of stopping after running is amazing and also horrible bc u rly soak in how painful it is

Grace was not even mentioned as one of the favourites to win the race at the start!!
They mentioned that she’s in 7th grade about 18 times
my friend, we're in grade 8, runs 30+ km every day
she's on a track team and she's NEVER missed a practice. if she's away, she gets her coach to tell her a workout and she runs on the treadmill in the hotel
btw watch out for her in the 2020 olympics- Sadie Sigfstead, long distance (2000m)
Highly doubt that but okay
www.iaaf.org/athletes/canada/sadie-sigfstead-359634 there are many people faster than her..
if ur in eighth grade u cant be in the olympics
So your saying an 8th grade girl runs 18 miles each day, and will be in the Olympics in 2020? Okay
Ye OK..

Good on Grace - that is an EXCELLENT time. I know courses are subjective, but they were talking up second place like she was the second coming, but she was was 9th in a mid west state meet the year before. Grace is going places I’m sure, but second place was not the stiffest competition against a phenom.
She’s still a good runner but she really dropped.. usually when you’re this good at such a young age it tends to take a toll on your body because of how fast you are running and how hard you may be training to run fast
these announcers really need to learn who the girls in the field are and what schools they come from.
Jerry Freudenburg we got... uh... two girls in front
*facepalm*
yes because they're gonna memorize the names of 400+ people every year
What is truly amazing is that the girl they initially ID as Emily Covert, the early leader, is blond wearing blue with red piping; they don't even notice as she falls off the pace & a redhead wearing black & orange moves up!
By the way, this girl-who may or may not be Emily Covert-finishes in ~19:07 at the very end of the video 19:40.
Jerry Freudenburg seriously I go to the state meet every year in Arizona to watch and every race I have 10 or so faces I have memorized despite never watching besides that day

Yes, & just an understandable oversight that the early race leader Emily Covert started out as blonde wearing blue with red piping & strangely morphed into a redhead wearing black & Orange!
So where is she now in 2019??
