just one comment-- this young lady is the definition of amazing- what an overused word these days, but I've watched her highlights the last few years and am looking forward to watching her in the future.
And yes, it's all in her form, as Katelyn says. She has the most fluid running style that I have ever seen. Ever. Dad and Mom deserve some credit for that.
Probably the most credit goes to her coach Brian Diglio at North Rockland High School. He has mentored her since the 7th grade and has taken great pains to maintain strict discipline on the tract through her advanced training program. He says that he has to hold her back as she always wants to push herself beyond her current capacity.
SuperBradC I'm far from an expert however I do notice that she runs like a boy would run and I think that it helps her achieve dominance over other girl runners who run like girls typically run. I actually believe that she has perfected this style, probably through the coach that is training her. The next time you watch one of her races just concentrate closely upon her running style and I think you will see what I see.
@@livvygilder that's silly imo. 4.0 should be max. you prove you're smart with SATs. AP classes are a waste of time. Clubs are mostly worthless as they don't show leadership like elected student gov't or team captain.
20 will be a stretch, . but 24 for sure. She has not yet even ran the Qual time for the 20 Olympics. She has time to improve but is off by about 13 seconds in the 5k. and almost 30 behind the US leader, it seems the 5k would be her best shot but she is a bit of but she is a great runner for sure.
This young woman can run like a deer. It is just a joy to watch her glide around the track as her compitition chase after her. I wish her great success.
Someone who brakes records means there has never been anyone like her before. The future for her will be full of amazement and human achievement on a whole new level. I can only wish Katelyn success and to having a great time doing it. Stay humble Katelyn, that will be the hardest part being such an amazing athlete. The most amazing athlete ever!
As a sophomore, she ran a faster mile than all but one boy, a senior on my high school team when I was in high school and that boy went to the state championships in high school. mindboggling !
Hi, I'm from the UK 🇬🇧, been following katelyn for a while now and i find her mesmerising, she's like the beauty and the beast, she is phenomenal at the race's but looks like she should be a princess in a Disney movie. Just love her humility and talent.
This young girl reminds me of Mary Slaney (nee Decker) who came to my attention when as a 16 year old girl she was beating quality international athletes. Mary was a driven girl and trained *exceptionally* hard. She was of the opinion that the more she ran the faster she'd get. An example of her driven nature was highlighted when at age 12 she completed a marathon and four middle- and long-distance races in one week, ending the week with an appendectomy operation. Mary should have won the gold medal for the 3,000 metre, and possibly the 1,500 metre, at both the Moscow and Atlanta Olympics. Unfortunately the USA boycotted the Moscow Olympics and she tripped up in the Atlanta games. Because she was so used to running from the front, even in 800 metre races, she never got to grips with the tactics of running in the pack. As she got older the training regime she followed from her early career caused a series of quite severe stress fractures from which she never fully recovered. Katelyn has every attribute to become a great athlete with the right guidance which I'm sure she's getting.
Most beautiful athlete I ever seen AND smart on top of being a nationally ranked athletic talent. Could be modeling instead of running and so many options open to her. Looks like a life full of unlimited options for her. Not many are this lucky and work this hard..
husband speaking age 80, today is April 28m 2023 - looking back on this video from today - she has not changed at all, sweet, humble, and such a great runner. She is always a team player, but will still go for the win herself. What a lady.
Here we are on June 6, 2023 on the eve of the NCAA D1 champs. KT owns the NCAA records for the indoor 1500, mile and 3000 (breaking the old record by six seconds) and the outdoor 5000 which she set a few weeks ago (15:03.12), breaking Jenny Simpson's 14 year old record by three and a half seconds. The big question for the NCAAs is will she go for Simpson's also-14-year old 1500 record of 3:59.9; or at least the world champs standard of 4:03.5? Katelyn also has won individual NCAA championships in cross country, outdoor 5000, and indoor 3000 and 5000, and is the heavy favorite to double in the 1500 and the 5000 this week. If she does collect two more individual titles and set another record she will be for sure a legitimate candidate for The Bowerman and many will consider her to be the greatest collegiate distance runner of all time. What an amazing career which began over eight years ago when she was an uncanny pixie, a forest sprite in 7 th grade, who also proved to be tough as nails.
Es lo mad grande que he visto ssle corriendo y llega corriendo en mis 70 años nunca vi nada igual dios la bendiga siempre y siga cosechando exitos Ender Vargas Vzla.
She is all legs and short torso. Her legs are pretty muscular so her power to weight ratio is good. If she gets much bigger, so could run into problems.
Only for sprints is stride length an advantage. Distance running it's usually an advantage to be smaller as less weight to carry around. But in any case, a long stride with bad form is going to be worse than a short stride with good form.
I didn't like the "little pettit girl" comment, or the first video on redoing the interview. He's clearly not a runner, he was the wrong guy to do the interview.

This guy is so sexist and rude. This woman is not petite and gentle - she is an incredibly strong woman and athlete!
I didn't realize she was so tiny. Everyone on that stage is a full head taller than her. When does stride length become a factor in racing?
It matters more in the sprints than the distance event!
Don't know. Ask Shelley-Anne Fraser-Price...!! 😂

Only for sprints is stride length an advantage. Distance running it's usually an advantage to be smaller as less weight to carry around. But in any case, a long stride with bad form is going to be worse than a short stride with good form.
