I believe that part of the problem is brain activity.
The western society is programed to retire from all work at a certain age.
I have been self employed most of my working life as an engineer.

I think maintaining the function of being needed and working in some way keeps your body and brain functioning as we were designed to do.

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and I found it very interesting so I have subscribed to your channel. A little over 3 years ago I watched a video by Dr Eric Berg about the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. I started healthy keto eating 2 meals a day, one at midday and the other at 5pm. Within 3 months I lost 17kg (37lbs) and over time I've noticed many other benefits including the ones you highlighted in this video. I occasionally do longer fasting. I'm 76 and my brain is sharper now than it's been for a long time. I play hard Sudoku every day and I can solve most Freecell games in 1-2 minutes. My memory is very good and I feel great. My eyesight and hearing have improved and my hair, skin and nails are amazing. I hope this will encourage others to apply your advice.

@@singamajigy I think it will vary for everyone, honestly, so don't go by results. I got tested about 3 weeks after I started doing keto/int fasting and my fasting blood sugar went from 100 to 77 and my A1C from 5.7 to 5.1. But keep at it. I found I had to really look at labels, which shocked me..... I never had any idea how many carbs I was actually eating. I also do 1 TBSP of apple cider vinegar in water prior to each meal to drop my blood sugar spike (check out the glucose goddess for her blood sugar hacks). I also cut out all seed oils and now use REAL olive oil (don't be fooled by crap in the stores). And I binge watched Dr Eckberg's videos as well as the Glucose Goddess. Education was the key!

16-18 is easily doable, as is 22-23. But you don't do it all at once. Don't slam the body with sudden, jarring changes. Work up to it over 3-6 months. Once you're in it, it's fine. Helps GI be more regular. Can only eat so much in one meal, so your food intake is gated. Fats leave you feeling satiated longer. Carbs leave stomach feeling like it's eating itself.

I dont know about any dementia stage but MOST people say over 60 or even a bit younger do not want to change. They most often bring up "is in the genes anyway". Of course I bring up epigenetic control of genes and how the control of the expression of genes is clearly affected by your lifestyle and likely often more of a determinant than the specific genotype.
Amazingly an older gentleman was hiking to Mills lake in Rocky mountains yesterday and I had noticed his very hesitant steps. He told me he had Parkinson's disease and as I asked what he was doing to fight it he said it is incurable. Yet at least someone managed to get him to hike alone 5 miles in the mountains and he also demonstrated to me a number of exercizes he was doing routinely. Hence this is helping a great deal against the progression of the disease. I hope he also looks at the dietary aspect.
Obviously, whatever your genetic makeup you have to put your "best foot forward". A suboptimal lifestyle is sure to sabotage the expression of a number of genes no matter how neutral their sequence is. I know I would have had a very hard time to ever become an olympic level sprinter. But I can at least run slowly at 8k feet. And something has made me a better hiker this year than I was last year.
