--spoiler blocker-- Very cool interaction in r5: consign vs standstill. As long as you are the non active player, consign CAN counter standstill, as long as you replicate once. The additional standstill trigger and the replicate trigger go on the stack at the same time: replicate resolves first and can target the 2nd standstill trigger.
“Maybe I should order some Archon of Cruelties. Maybe they’ll get here before the end of the match” committing a GRV for the bit is the best reason to commit a GRV
"Hopefully you forget before that video comes out." The instant I've put two cards facedown on my library with a brainstorm, i've already forgotten what they are.
I was the R5 player, and I have to say, I’m really impressed that you remembered our previous game! It shows just how sharp and dedicated you are. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to another match xD
That round 2 lands matchup is why I always rock at least 1 PoP in the board. Also just watching opponents be at 3 in my red deck that doesn't have Bolt in it is the saddest thing... I miss bolt
53:00 Bowmaster is not as effective against necro as you thought. They can just go off in response to the triggers same as solidarity, the deck is made to win instant speed.
Shout out 1x Coffin Purge. Own 43 of them because I needed one at some juncture. Card is like 19 cents, shipping was gonna be a buck or two. Dodge the shipping on $5+ order. Found a seller that had 43 of em, figured it would be funnier to buy them out of their entire stock for an extra 2 or 3 bucks. It has yielded much more than $3 of giggles when I look at them
20:00 Yes, you could hold consign. And lose to recruiter tutor slowly xD I love seeing you play delver, so sharp and cold plays. It shows you used the deck a lot!
Loved this league; always good to see good players struggle. Completely agree with the conclusion btw, and I even think this manabase is further removed from good mana than you can fix by adding 1 land (11/11 while wanting red and black on turn 1 is just not good, and I think 12/12 after adding one fetch is there either; though it's a lot closer). I'd be on 19 lands with just 3 Wastelands, then the mana is good enough.
Bowmasters doesn't reduce the number of cards they draw off NecroDom. They can simply go off over top of the triggers - they're winning at instant speed anyway.
@@DracomandriuthusStrix and Barrowgoyf have been a house for me in Grixis control. Leveraging some bigger topend oneoffs like Goyf and JTMS feels pretty good right now, and the longer grind value of having stuff like K Command and Snapcaster feels nice when your games go to later turns
Dunno if you ever think about non-game play content but you going over the deep dive history and development of delver over time would be pretty cool, imo.
This same thing happens to me every time I try to play delverless delver recently (tried actual delver too because I was weak to the ever common graveyard hate). It's a struggle I think UB might just be the way to go.
58:01 I think I recently saw you get bitten in a draft by mixing up Molten Collapse with Mine Collapse, and here you are mixing them up again. They are both targeted removal spells but they hit different targets and have different casting costs and Mine Collapse is an instant.
At 25:08, you brainstormed into Wasteland while opponent had 2 lands in play - Saga and Shifting Woodland. Was there any consideration to the idea of wasting the Woodland, given they led on it which to me suggested it was at the time their only green source, and green (whether for manabond or loam) was their route to get their engine rolling?
Actually this list is exactly my 75 from my 5-0 on 19-9. But thanks for the video! Was nice to see how someone else would sideboard with the exact list. But sadly no UB opponents because that is more interesting than bad matchups. Also, I agree with your conclusion that Tempo is hard work in this format. I bought a Tamiyo with the 5-0 chest tix and try to get the UB list together ^^
How many bolts do you think you could get away with? And what would you swap out? I understand Frog is a must answer threat, but I really love Bolt's ability to close out games fast.
I wonder how much goyf and DRC would drop in utility if Bauble weren't legal. It not drawing the card immediately set it apart from Git Probe initially, and it also provides much less information and doesn't pitch to Force. But if you're immediately getting a surveil trigger off casting it for 0, and immediately getting another card type in the graveyard, getting some information, AND it replaces itself... IDK. Seems like it does way too much for being 0 mana, but maybe that's DRC's fault.
This has been my experience with Delver. It's supposed to be great, it is sometimes, and it takes 100% of your brain to earn a win. But you don't have free wins or good matchups
Round 3, I'm not sure Bowmasters even helps against Necro. Won't they just do their combo with all the triggers on the stack? It only punishes Manamorphose and stops Valakut Awakening
I feel like nethergoyf is conceptually the correct way to go over tamiyo in this deck. Attacking for 0 and spending 2 mana to draw a card is not what delver wants to be doin, very tempo negative
Wh doesn’t anyone play dimir tempo/midrange with a reanimator juke in the sideboard they do the opposite all the time, I’ve been playing it and it’s been really good to me people get absolutely confused
The problem with this list is that it: 1) is too reliant on the graveyard. You want "just enough" reliance that your opponent looks silly trying to disrupt it 2) CMC on threats is too similar 3) Needs planewalkers (Royal Scions or Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver) for midrange/tempo mirrors. Scions would at least make your 0/1 goyf into a 2/1 first strike trample, which ain't nothing. As always, Scions is underplayed. It also has the late-game reach you removed by removing Bolt. 4) Psychic Frog in the list doesn't mean you can stop playing tight. It is as good as Goyf was back in the day.
yeah I've found recently that grixis delver feels pretty shit. running 4 fatal push makes the proactive plan weak, and running 4 bolt makes you too soft to frog. and there doesn't seem to be a way to balance that at the moment. better to just stick to 2c imo.
I think that this deck just wants to be straight Dimir Delver instead of splashing red for DRC. Obviously DRC has the higher upside, and you are losing good sideboard cards this way, but I feel like the combination of bad mana plus both 1-drop threats being soft to graveyard hate in a format full of it pushes the needle into UB being the stronger choice if we are not going to play bolt (which seems correct given the prevalence of frog). Not the only reasons the league went badly (bad luck was a good portion of it) but they were far from insignificant.
have you ever thogught about a mass unbaning of cards that USD tobe two good for legacy, and seeing how it plays out? EI is the same as frog why not have both, then there is a reason to be izzit and a reason to be UB. I feellike this could be applicable line of reasoning for many cards.
The issue with that isn’t build space in delver, it’s decks like Death & Taxes or GW Depths or Red Prison that are cool to exist in the format but get nothing from this exercise then don’t even know which busted engine they’ll have to compete with from the top decks.

Holy smokes
This is so sick.
I was like "Damn, this dude knows his shit". And then see the name. Of course it's the pile master.

I was the Lands player in round 2 lol! Thanks for those matches! I fully intend on drawing 4 wastelands next time we meet ;)
Thanks for playing out that lands game. The opponent's win with field of the dead was beautiful

GGs!
A new reason for not scooping early, watching your opponent do a fun new thing that the audience is glad to see on camera (31:00)
It's Monday BoshNRoll-aniacs! Time to crawl out of that weekend BrainFrog and look into Dimir.
Very dimir, very mindful

That round 1 D&T player CAME TO GAME.
"T1 Wooded Foothills.... that's suspicious" Love the commentary.

bolt does make a lot of sense in this deck. good insight at the end, hell yeah

I’ve never seen a random mishra’s bauble look on turn one win a game of magic like that. Incredible!
I've been trying to pick up this deck recently so I'm really looking forward to learning a lot from this video

Round 4 got me yelling grafdiggers cage
Hey bosh hope you have a good week thanks for the video
I agree with the analysis. These days, if you want to be Tempo/Delver, just go Dimir. For Grixis better go the Grixis Control route
Bowman is way down in EV, which means Grixis Control goes way up in EV.
Baleful Strix is a king in current legacy.

Sad day indeed when delver no longer plays delver.
I am unhappy that Horizons sets warp so many formats so much
delver is miles better than nethergoyf if your expecting to play through a bunch of gy hate (like my local meta with 3x black helm players)
boy that pyroblast was blastin hard
Why no grafdiggers cage against the zenith/NO deck?

Great content! Probably the best 0-5 I will ever watch.
absolute chad to play the land after he got double dazed
did the duals always have the tap add blank or blank thing on them or is that a new visual update

Do you think the questing druid tempo version Is still viable?
Druid is way worse than frog. You need a good reason to be outside UB
How well does legacy seem to be adapting to psychic frog ?
It adapts in that every fair and some unfair blue deck plays 4 copies xD. Card is probably too good for the format
Its fine......just as long as every deck plays it 😂
