2019 was an absolutely killer year for DCI drumlines. 2020 would have been too.
I have a feeling 2021 will be even better
Brandon Olander 2021 won’t be that grand without you in the Blue Devils, too bad you aged out
I often look at super good drum lines and I just can’t believe this is humanly possible.
Brandon Olander 2021 will be insane if everyone keeps their contracts. imagine the blue devils having two years to rehearse a show. insane.
@@willheeres5618and every other corps that is keeping their show.
lilrookie yeah, 2021 was supposed to be my first year in drum corps. it’s gonna be tough to find a spot.
Even bottom score was clean af, batteries were hella good this year
Avery Bondeson false.. very average year
@@alexwilson2268 "Drum Corps hasn't been good since '76. Bring back the G Bugles and no more bass splits!" You sound like you're fun at parties
Don W “haha hey guys look at me, my names Don W and I suck the fun out of fucking everything even though I’m not as talented as any of the performers”
Korporal I like how Don W says his opinion on the level of these groups and everyone has to make fun on him when his comment had nothing to do with what you guys are making fun of him for. I love that.
@@EmoPandaGaming calling out how much shit theses guys talk to the performers just because it's not how they want it. He said what he wanted, we said what we wanted. I kind of see what you're saying, but at the same time, no one appreciates those people on comments sections who say things like "dirt" on Cavs videos just because it's not Vanguard. DCI (specifically drumline) has an extremely toxic community for something that requires so much passion from the performers
i made a promise to myself when i was younger that i would march one of these top 12 drum lines, and now it’s time for me to actually do it. in the 2021 season i plan to march one indoor group and one top 12 drumline. i will be back in one year to let everyone know if i made it or not
Logan Knight best of luck to you!
Logan Knight what groups are you auditioning for?
Ben Kessler troopers and scv
@@loganknight6454 Bet let's march indoor together, I play brass lmao
Reply to my comment so I know if you made it
No matter what older drum corps fans dismissing modern drum corps, we all have to agree this decade was the best one for drum lines. You just can’t compete
Go back and look at Muchachos, Bridgemen, ol Skool BD and Clara.....you might want to think twice about that statement!!!..lines today are more mechanical.....Not as soulful!!!
Byron Greene wdym “not as soulful” bro all of them are performing their hearts out, even those of us in lower and open class corps
I only dismiss the Halloween costumes. Bring uniforms and shakos back. Hard to take them serious dressed as lumberjacks or in spandex.
@@WTurner859 i dont see it as them having to be taken seriously, theyre supposed to entertain and if the costumes add to the theme, the shoe fits. thats just my take tho, think what you want
As an older band and Corp member (late 70s early 80s) I enjoy any and all performances. Back in my day, we aged out at 18/19 yrs old. Is that still the case? If so, I’m glad to see these kids having fun appreciating the discipline and comradery only corps can bring.
I cannot wait to see what everyone brings to the table for 2021. it's going to be incredible.
This aged well
bout as well as milk
Sadly it won’t as 3 of the top 12 aren’t even going to indy. Maybe that will help phantom place higher this year hopefully, they’ve been gradually dropping further and further down the list for what feels like almost an entire decade
I still get whiplash watching the switch from Blue Knights to Boston, their styles are just so different
infinite sky that’s so true lol. Blue knights is very laid back and chill while Boston is all in your face just melting your face off. It’s honestly fun listening to both tho lol
fun fact: the bk staff from 2019 was gonna be at Boston for 2020. Both groups have the same philosophy behind drumming, but different execution.
@@maxalvarado726 yeah bk center from 19 went to mandies also sup max it's erik
I was in the matrix for half an hour while watching this. A lot of these lines I just watched for the first time. So many good things happened this Summer.
10:23 “KEEP GOING!!!!” 😂😂😂
pmillergroove1 Best lot crowd we’ve encountered, even to the point that we had UA-cam comments on the original claiming the reactions were edited in 😂😂😂
6AM Films Allentown goes HARD for The Cadets it’s amazing I love it
That was a magical night, you had to be there! You could literally feel the energy in the crowd
God I loved that drumline year so much!!!!
I was in the Austin Lancers in the 60's and the music, drum lines, and color guards never get old.
Without looking at who they are, you can tell when SCV is playing because their sound is so unique
I will never get tired of BD's snare break this year. So damn good.
Said this once and I’ll say it again. Cadets and BK quads were extremely good
The tenor player on the left is doing the rock eyebrow raise at 18:22 😂😂😂
Over animated faces make me so uncomfortable
Cadets quads were amazing this year
Bruh, cadets bass tuning is 🔥
2020 season cancelled :/ it’s going to be a long year especially since we won’t really have much new DCI content
OTOH, this would be a great time for them to bring back Fan Network
i cant wait for the next 30 minute video of drumlines. i listen to this at work before we open. great video
I'm amazed by the body movement of the Crossmen every single time I watch this video!
20:40 the third guy from the right has a majestic beard
technoviking.
yeah, thats Chase in a nutshell
i love watching compilations to see all the familiar faces both in the lines and the staff
It's neat to get all these composition techniques back to back in one video.
I wish we had stuff like this in the UK. It's amazing what you guys do, keep it up 👍🏼
Lazer beams a little after 17:48 :)))))))))
Carolina crown has finally overtaken cadets for most complicated music. There's barely any straight rhythms and they keep marching over /8 signatures.
Blue knights for me are very steady especially coupled with a very clean roll.
Cadets shredded 💯
Diggin that thumbnail
Cadets were slept on
28:30 when coronavirus is gone
LMAO
Quad mans eyebrows at 18:18 😂
Jackson mans straight groovin
Man said 🤨
Whenever I play something fast my jaw moves unintentionally. My friend pointed it out to me and wouldnt stop laugh because I kept doing it when I got to certain part in the music. I couldnt help it lol
Hopping with drums is honestly pretty impressive 😳😂
Why is cadets 3rd bass so MASSIVE
25:35 “DUT DUT DUT”
[Laughter] [Music] [Applause] man I love UA-cam automatic subtitles
The way that the cadets have visible forehead tans from wearing hats throughout the season lmao
I cannot remember his name, but is the Crossmen’s caption head the snare drummer from Bluecoats in tilt and Bluedevils afterward?
that bk feature hits different dog
The tech at 7:06 in the Mandarin drum corp, did he march for a Corp a while back? He looks super familiar, and I don’t believe I saw him teching there before.
He marched with the Bluecoats!
Santa Clara tenors 🤯🤯
my only regret so far in life is not doing DCI
Also: GEezus Blue devils played hella clean
I usually prefer Vanguard's tuning year to year, but Blue Knights was by far the best in 2019 , especially tenors and basses.
I SEE YOU JOEY!!!! GHOST BASS 3!!!
9:13 that bass line tho 😎
You can literally put this comment on any of the bass parts.
Can you do an Open Class version of this?
Phantom bass tuning was unmatched. Dayum, way to go. How come more lines don’t use pearl, they sound the best!
If they have better harnesses I think they would be used more. My school uses them and I hate the harness.
Oml Cadets was so🔥
Hey Bernie
I'm sure the 2021 season will one in the books. But I'll learn from the best and audition for as many corps as possible. I will make a name for myself and become apart of one of these top 12 groups. DCI 2021 I'm coming for you, better be ready.
I know they didn’t do that “well” but Phantoms writing is still my favorite. Surprised by the Mandarins and Boston had some serious Huevos Rancheros! BD, well it’s BD. Bluecoats were a snooze fest for once. Crossmen get the the Shut Up and Dance award! JMHO.
I’m just looking for a drum breaks to rewrite on musescore lol
Nice
I wish i can March in these type of indoor but the music is hard to read
wow its like blue devils just get handed rings god damn
You should order the vids by percussion scores
SCVs Quad tuning😍
💯
4:16 THOSE BUGGADUHS
18:18-18:30 had me laughing
Doesnt it just make you recinsider your career in music?
I cant get over how ungodly clean SCVs quads are jesus christ
Ikr? It's beyond comprehension.
Why is no one noticing that bloo’s bass 5 put a dent in his head at 28:15
Boston’s book had so many frickin notes, literally too many notes😂
Is it just me or are the cavies trying to prove a point that you don't need 2 different sized spocks to have 2 different sounds
I'm a BD guy. And all 12 lines did well. But for some reason, Phantom, Cadets, Blue Knights, Carolina, SCV, and BD (overly technical as usual) were amongst the group that stood out very well. Cavys performance was very short so I can't say. After 2nd review based on the size of each clip, it probably would be SCV [1A] (Best tenors hands down & overall as a line very clean), Carolina [1B], BD [3rd] (has the best-tuned basses).
Can I put my suggestion out there? I would like to see some more open corps stuff too. If not it's cool it would just be really awesome
But keep up the great work man I love the way that you work and shoot video
For sure! We have a decent amount of Open Class content up from 2019 DCA/DCI. The issue is that we ended up losing multiple TB of data between Prelims and Semi-Finals because of faulty hard drives purchased just before, resulting in losing a ton of battery/hornline/front footage from mostly open and some world (was one of our only opportunities to film open class). Otherwise this upload would've been a Top 35 drum features video!
And thank you for the kind words! Hopefully in 2021 we'll get out and be able to capture as much open as we have world throughout the season.
@@brianlandryjr.3575 Fortunately we do have a Stars battery lot from semis (switched drives later in the day): ua-cam.com/video/v9B4ERmt6IM/v-deo.html
@@6AMFilms I thought I saw another camera person in our circle and I completely understand we lost 8 runs on go pros bc of faulty SD cards
The Corps were side by side, but the Mandarins and Cadets drumlines were nothing close. Cadets book was miles ahead of Mandarins.
This is going by overall placement. If I recall correctly, Mandies got last in drums and Cadets got 5th.
30:41 is one of the snares wearing yeezys😂
they look like the ultra boost triple whites to me
@10:50= phantom 05
Crown deserves a win sometime soon
How do you hit rims on drums that literally dont have them...
at what point in the season were these?
Each event title and date is listed at the beginning of each corps' feature in the video (check timestamps in description)
@@6AMFilms hah duh. sorry for being an idiot. :P
Why do the blue knights snares look so big
Joshua Kennedy mah hunky mega white rims

19:10 bruh I had to
Best snare tuning would have to be BD. I hear a lot of bad things about the system blue drums, and I really wouldn't know- I'm just an inexperienced highschooler. They be sounding pretty dope most of the time though. I will admit, the tenors this year weren't the best- (shit ain't been right since Miles has left.) Then again, that's just personal opinion, I already know I wouldn't survive a day in the DCI world. So imma try to strive for my best and hopefully I make it somewhere. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
I respect your opinion. Personally for me, BD had the worst tuning in the whole top 12 cus it was so wet compared to the rest and really covered the dirt. I’m sure I can’t be alone here, I love a crisp sounding snare line and BD’s wasn’t it. Good luck with your goals man!
@@jeremygalsim2484 Yamaha, pearl, and dynasty will always have a superior sound to me but that doesn’t mean i can enjoy some MEATY system blue phatbois on occasion

Mandarins definitely deserved more than a 16.8 in drums
Damnit. video and audio are out of sync. only like a qtr of a second. if that. However when you're watching drumlines it might as well be a whole minute. Irritating (no offense).
But maybe it's just my phone. Anyone else notice it's out of sync?
6:12 LMAO ITS RICHARD RAMOS (bluecoats center snare for 2014 he also marched 2013)
Edit: The dude in the blue shirt
Such a female representation in the Bluestars line!
Is it just me, or were the Cadets just on a COMPLETELY different level in 2019?
Big ups to the young lady's that I saw. I would like to see an all girl line...
Barry Monroy RIGHT?!?!
I just want to see a good line, who cares what gender they are 🤷🏽♀️
Crossmen sounded cleaner than phantom 🤷♂️
Idk man but phantom was WAY more clean than crossmen, crossmens line was beast in 2019 but it was just a little dirty
Damn so many bad attacks lel

Snares are super cleal. I just can't get past the jammies. Such a shame. Phantom always had awesome uniforms. Very distinguishable. now its just crap.
No.
I love how SCV got high percussion WITHOUT DANCING!

Understandable
System blue drums are trash ☕☕☕☕ js
@Wyatt Jones I don’t know that they’re trash, but they’re definitely odd in a bad way. From the overly dry tenors to the wet-sounding snares and muffled basses, they just sound weird compared to the other brands. The tenors, in particular, remind me of the old Premier free-floating models that came out in the mid-90s, which looked awesome but didn’t project at all other than a vague and muddy metallic sound.
that bluestars opening was the cringiest visual sequence ever.
I know I'm old school but I remember the days when the emphasis was on the playing and not dancing around so much, military bearing was impressive, straight lines, now it seems they are asking the drummers not only to drum but to dance around which I find totally distracting. They can play, let them drum and maintain composure and leave the dance moves for the theater.
I think it has to do with judges
What’s up with all the circus costumes ? Instructors are a bunch of clowns for making the players wear that. Extremely talented lines but can’t take them seriously with the Halloween disguises Could’ve been 10/10 badass so close smh. And no I don’t have that old school mentality I’m barely 20
So much bad writing.
(but lots of great playing)
Nah
