I went to school with jake and Josh and man I knew in high school drinking Busch lite listening to them jam in their garage that they were going places
Man they are SO under appreciated because of the stigma of "sounding like Led Zeppelin", but I think people's opinions are changing. And their last album sounds way different as well, they are really finding their own sound
I'm a big fan of GVF and I completely agree. Some people will never look past the comparison to Led Zep and give them a fair chance, but that's their loss. That being said, it is unfortunate that opening riff in this song happens to sound pretty similar to the one on Led Zep's 'Black Dog' lol
@@rossyoung8892 Also huge GVF huge fan and Led Zeppelin fan too .....but we all know that dear ol' Led Zeppelin ripped a lot...... in this case they 'drew inspiration" for Black Dog from the Fleetwood Mac song , 'Oh Well' hehhe
To be fair, lets not pretend that it's some accident. Nobody of GVF's talent and label makes Led Zepp music and doesn't realize it. That said, it's original music put to a great sound, so fuck it. Great band.
IMO, this band ranks right up there with the best rock bands in music history. Their sound is just so unique and satisfying. This 61-year-old hippie loves them! ☮️💜💟🎶
Oh my little hippie children! I adore them! I saw them a few yrs ago when they were brand new and was blown away. Bare feet, fringe, feathers in their hair😍. I got such a sense of Freddy Mercury flowing thru him. He is AMAZING on stage.
They are very under appreciated and hope they continue with the backing of their label through out. They are getting new fans daily. Heat Above really got them a new segment of fans. It is funny that people that complain about them sounding like Zep pick out their 3-4 most sounding zep songs without going over their whole discography.
They're the first new band I've liked in 20 years, and they're my favorite. Bands like them just don't come along that often. I'd suggest Heat Above, Lover Leaver Taker Believer, Edge Of Darkness, all the songs in the Candlelight Sessions series, and if you like epic guitar solos, try The Weight Of Dreams. Happy listening!
Yes yes yes and yes oh did I say yes. Josh is one of the most amazing vocalist I don't even think I can articulate my thoughts on it, every member of this band it's an exceptional musician
Your reaction just BLEW ME AWAY! That you can hear Josh and feel exactly like I do about his voice, gives me chills! His chorus in Stardust Chords is stellar! I hope you give it a listen and react to it. These guys are all 22 and 25 and sound awesome - can you imagine them in another 5 years? I've been waiting to see them live for 3 years now - and will finally get the chance in March, 2022!! Have a great day and TY again for getting so excited about these guys! 😎
I love GVF! They are keeping the Rock and Roll music I grew up with alive and well. "BROKEN BELLS" from their Candlelight Sessions is a must to react to, if you already haven't.
Fantastic reaction man. I really appreciate the enthusiasm you bring to your show. I saw them play live and I was absolutely blown away. He really does hit all those notes!
People, I need some serious help. I binged so hard on their first two albums...like listening to them endlessly. Now...I just CAN'T stop listening to this album and watching You Rube reaction videos to songs from this album. November can't get here soon enough, when I'll see them for a 4th time.
They're so great! I'm so glad you appreciate the whole experience. Live at red rocks is amazing, I agree with the many age of man requests. You'll be blown away!
Saw them in concert this past summer and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Just got tickets to see them again in October! Great reaction! You have a new subscriber!
I looooooove these guys Yeeeeeeeeeees hypnotic voice, just phenomenal, He takes you to places you never been before, I discovered them by accident somewhere around November or December it was a short on UA-cam for the song age of the machine, I'm telling you I fell in love from that moment and when I listened to the new single the other day i was mindblown Totally lost my shit!!! I was like Yeeeeeeeeeees Josh take us on that magical ride thank you 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤I hope they keep on this journey and more and more will discover them 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Please do the entire album. It is as cinematic and epic a rock album as you will ever hear. Excellent analysis with this track from the album, “The Battle At Garden’s Gate.”
When you get to do another I would love you to discuss The Weight of Dreams. Thank you for recognising the whole four are fabulously gifted and love what they do. And you nailed it saying it wasn't about grandiosity. Josh just clearly loves to sing which is a blessing given what he bestows on us.
Found you because I was looking for people reacting to Dirty Honey. Then saw this video and I had to click on it because I love GVF. Love the channel. You’re hilarious, and a great musician I might add 😉
Love, Love, Love GVF so much!!! Saw them live in Chicago in September. They killed it! Please react to more GVF! Also, please listen to a newer Canadian band, Crown Lands. Influenced by Rush. Incredibly full, layered prog rock sound coming from just TWO musicians! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
I'm convinced Josh came out of the womb wailing. He's got one helluva set of lungs on him for such a little guy (5'5"). Can you imagine if he hadn't been willing to support twin brother Jake in his dream of having a rock band and followed his dream of being a filmmaker instead? Think what the world would've missed out on!
GVF state their music has a message of peace, love and unity. Most of their songs deals with some heavy stuff. Climate change, technology, redemption, greed
They have so many amazing live performances from their new album up on their channel! I would LOVE to hear your insights on them!! edit: i wanted to add that their live performance of Age of Man at red rocks gives me CHILLS!! (also on their channel)
Great reaction you totally get it you just know when a band is special I'm 57 and have followed them since 2017 and there growth is amazing a once in a generation band
I saw these guys at the Greek Theater in October (Los Angeles). Amazing show, and the fans were the best I have ever seen! And I do know what I saw....I was at Led Zeppelin, 1977 in San Diego. Greta Van Fleet was the better show.....
This band gives me the frigging chills every time I hear them. People can say what they want about the music of today ...... Yawn !!!! I was raised during the time when musicians composed & put thought into the music they played. Beatles , Stones , Zeppelin , Aerosmith, Styx , Yes etc. Black artist who played the blues , definitely influenced rock in the late 50's through the 70's. Rock music has NEVER been matched since.... FINALLY A BAND THAT GETS IT !!!! The music industry , became an industry , pushing out a product only to make money. I have all of GVF'S music. Their my go to band today.
Cool video, dude! I think you'd like the Broken Bells Candlelight Session they did, if you haven't seen it. Their performance for Age of Man was amazing too.
You are by far One of the Best Critiques [react] videos! Music teachers, vocal coaches get GVF. But You pointed out so much abt the band, Josh's signing and the historical undertones. Please keep doing these! And MORE GVF!!!
Always love your videos. Your comment about not many men sound like him singing got me thinking: You should do a react to St Paul and The Broken Bones. They did a live NPR series that was amazing. Specifically the song "Call Me"
I think it’s fantastic that they’re keeping the zeppelin sound alive! No one should hate in that! As an avid rat pack fan I wish more people would keep that music alive outside of like Michael Buble lol
LFG!!! Greta is so awesome. I highly recommend reacting to their candlelight sessions. They are some of the best live performances you will find. Especially Tears of Rain. That don’t gets me everytime!
I completely agree! I DONT CARE that they sound like Zeppelin! If a new band is gonna sound like anyone, they could do a lot worse than Zeppelin! It bugs me so much when people write them off because of the Zeppelin thing, because how can u be a rock fan or a music fan in general and write off genuinely well written and performed rock music just because it sounds a bit like one of the greatest rock bands of all time. And it also annoys me so much when people are like "if i wanted to listen to Led zeppelin, I'd just listen to actual Led Zeppelin" BUT ZEPPELIN DIDN'T WRITE THIS MUSIC! Its not like GFV are playing Zeppelin songs, they're playing their own, Zeppelin never wrote or performed these songs so why wouldn't u want to just listen to good music coming from artists today! Like ok, go listen to zeppelin but u wont get to hear these songs and that's a damn shame cuz they're pretty damn good. And this is coming from someone who isn't even the biggest GVF fan
Josh's voice is his real voice in his own genetics, he is not trying to sound like anyone else. So critcs have to get over it and enjoy it. GVF grew up on their parents vynal records.
For Christmas there is this epic live version of O holy night by David Phelps you should check out. It’s not rock but has amazing piano and his voice is next level
You should listen to “Backseat Lovers” they also sound amazing live and I listen to their live more than their produced music especially after hearing them in person!
You said it best about not caring about the comparison to Led Zeppelin. I believe their influence towards sounding like Led Zeppelin is purely due to their musicianship rather than by their intention to replicate Zeppelin’s style. It’s an indication to the rarity of this quality of rock music both of the bands have produced.
@@claradahlberg-garde8993 Hah! Even a year ago when that comment was posted they were wearing snazzy stage costumes. It's cool, though. Rock and fashion have always been intertwined. It's showbiz. But they, as all rock bands before them, shed the costumes as the show progresses because it does get hot under those lights.
The more you listen to greta van fleet you can hear how much different josh is from robert plant, josh hits many more pitches than robert and has a much higher range than robert.
@@MusicShed correct, im not saying one is better than the other im just pointing out josh has much more range than robert plant and thats the big difference between the two vocalist
CAN’T STAND THIS BAND! Can’t stand the Lead Singer’s “Screaming” Voice! To compare them to Led Zeppelin, The ICONIC GROUP FROM THE 60’s is such a slap in the face to Led Zeppelin! Next Subject Please?
I went to school with jake and Josh and man I knew in high school drinking Busch lite listening to them jam in their garage that they were going places
That’s really cool. You saw them in the beginning. I bet you wish you had some footage.
That is so cool!
That's awesome :)
Omg really? Are you guys still friends?
@@ela8775 not really!! They moved down to Nashville!! Ill see jake occasionally when he's in town

The zeppelin comparison got their name out there and some traction. Now they can do their thing.
as if sounding like led zeppelin is an insult AHHAHAHAHAHHA
IMO, this band ranks right up there with the best rock bands in music history. Their sound is just so unique and satisfying. This 61-year-old hippie loves them! ☮️💜💟🎶
Unbelievable he sang bass in high school...his range has to be crazy.
Josh sang bass?
He covers 5 octaves I believe
