  • You know Hearing Greta Van Fleet for the first time is totally awesome. This song is called "Age of the Machine".
This dude had never heard of Greta before, so I introduced him. It is always so fun to introduce someone. I think I have heard 5 of their songs and every single song I have heard I have absolutely loved.
Age of the Machine did not let me down.....it started slow and capped with such energy. I cannot wait for the next one.

i know this was a year ago but i just became aware of them recently. i actually got to see them a couple of weeks ago. i was amazed! they know how to put on a show and i dont even know much about the music. they really impress me. but what i wanted to tell you is that the younger generation does like this band. my 25 year old son introduced me and we saw them together. he loves them, i never heard of them now i get it! so i love watching reactions cuz everyone is always just blown away! they are something else! im so glad my son saw them on saturday night live and he was amazed and the biggest fan since. now i get it! so talented! great reactions! i dont think they try to sound like anyone, they just have that old school vibe. there’s no one like them! you both are smiling during the song and im smiling too! you cant help but smile! so awesome! so talented! im a little late to the game but im in! im a fan!

Guys, guys! The guitarist and singer are identical twins and the bass/keys is the other brother. 8 to 80 are ages of the fans. They named the band after an elder from their hometown. Her name is Gretna VanFleet. They’ve been playing together since 2013 and their first recordings which were packaged as a double EP won Grammy album of the year for the rock category two years ago. You have to go further down the rabbit hole on this new album which solidifies their sound. Check out the candle light series of songs from their new album you will be blown away.

It's nice to hear rock like this again. A lot of bands now days just do cleans in their vocals and it honestly is one of the biggest reasons rock is just meh or dead is some people's opinions because nobody is original anymore. GVF on the other hand just keeps getting better with each record. Don't sleep on this band.

Josh the vocalist and Jake the lead guitarist are twin brothers and are the older. Sammy is bass and keyboards. Danny is the drummer and is the same age as Sammy and were friends at school. They got their name when they heard the name of a woman in the town in Michigan whose name is Gretna Van Fleet. They asked permission to use her name dropping the 'n'.
There was a spate of reaction videos about Highway Tune, their first single when they were still in their teens. I can hear why people may have heard LZ vibes in there. Seriously though - Josh'sd vocals have NEVER reminded me of Robert Plant. Or anyone else. And I am very familiar with music from 70s. As soon as people start comparing you start to look for things to compare to. Elton John suggested they might want to play with their 'look' - which is awesome. Doesn't mean you put someone in a jumpsuit and automatically it is copying Freddie. Age of Machine was filmed like this because it is reflective of the lyrics of the song. What has happened to the planet. They and their fans, and I am so happy to be one, are members of the Peaceful Army - their songs are reflective of that.

Have you seen the Robert Plant interview, where he playfully says he hates GVF? It was totally in jest, and quite complimentary, of what his view of the band is.

I totally agree. I love these guys. But my first reaction to them I had our generation leaving comments of dissent. I think they will get over it though. That was just because of their first song "highway tune". People were just shocked by the similarities.

    @janfitzgerald3615 2 роки тому +1

Some people have compared them to LZ, Guns ‘n Roses, Rush, and Josh to Robert Plant or Geddy Lee. Robert Plant was asked which new bands he liked, he responded Greta Van Fleet. When Elton John heard them for the first time he called them and asked them to perform at a charity concert he was arranging. A couple of pretty good endorsements I’d say. 😉

Just saw your reaction to this one. I love Greta Van Fleet and enjoy when channels react to them. You should also check out "Weight of Dreams", "Lover, Leaver, Taker, Believer", "Edge of Darkness", "Broken Bells" just a few. I am one of the older people, and that is why I love them. They brought the sound I love back. They are not a cover band, all music is original. There are many songs that don't sound like Zeppelin. But as one of their influences you hear it. Even Zeppelin stole from Blues bands. All bands to an extent take from others in the past.

Totally missing Rush! Plus the sound is totally due to the Hammond 8 organ!

I don't hear LZ at all. More like Rush. And it really doesn't matter they are awesome and although there are hints of classic bands. I hear a lot of originality and true talent.

Just stumbled upon this reaction ... great job! Your analysis of this band makes me think you'd enjoy a new video from a different sort of group. Try the song "1987" by Steel Panther. Just as Greta Van Fleet makes you think of the 60's and 70's ... Steel Panther somewhat does the same but for the 80's ... and this new song just nails it.

You said it well. They listened to the music their parents listened to decided to make music that sounds like that. Yeah his voice sounds very much like Plant but who cares. They are only 2 albums in to their career, maybe in 2 albums time they moved more in their own direction while keeping the 70s vibe alive.

I’ve been wondering if the older generation would be digging Greta. Has to be true. I’m 29 and I’m have tickets to them in Fargo, ND in September. Would not fucking miss it for the world. These guys are reviving a great generation of rock before our eyes. Grateful that they’ve been discovered by so many people!!

For a second I thought maybe a reaction would be done without the comparison to Led Zepplin. Not fussing at your friend...the Fandom is just so incredibly tired or hearing it. I liked the first couple lines of the reaction you said though!

Lol well I like them and saw them in Chicago. I just turned 40. So old millennial. Not sure if gen z is into the band. But when I was at the concert there was a lot of 25-50 year olds.

This one kinda reminds me of "Bad company- simple man" (not lynyrd skynyrds song). I Love these guys. Bringing back actual genuine music. Look at the song "simple man- Bad company. (Again, not Lynyrd skynyrd's song). See what you think and tell me.
