Right? Like when I was a kid this would have taken multiple artists months to make and days to render. Now it renders over night on a single machine with 2 gpus. Crazy.
This means a lot to me, this is why I want to avoid button pushing tutorials. It's more valuable to all types of creatives if I teach concepts and rules.
"Here is not proper volume scattering", man, on those computers in late 90s you can not even run one Chrome tab today.... ...it doesn't mean that computers were soooo bad, but $ty Chorme, but anyway :) As well as comparing CG dust storm with the real one and speaking about of physics laws, on flim with alive Mummy and dark magic all around. This was not a documentary :p ... Thanks for the video, very nice content!
I honestly really prefer the "Why instead of How" for me they're really helpful and time saving.... Loved the tutorial... Subbed Edit: Mind telling your PC specs?
Sure. While making this I was running an old i7 128gb ram and dual 3080s. I have a new set up now with a raptor lake i7, 3090ti and 64gb ram. I am working on turning the dual 3080s into a render node.
I'm using a 3090ti. For embergen (and most real time sims) having a lot of GPU Ram is useful. It cannot combine ram from multiple cards unfortunately so one big beefy card is your best bet.
It takes 10 minutes to do this in Unreal engine using Niagara Fluids with Character Creator in 2024> however in past 10 years ago when film was made it took a month to create it
@@RoyalsAndRogues 10 minutes I mean for the professional person who already have presets> they just drag and drop the presets with little tweaks> however, technology has made things much much cheaper and achievable than before> doing GPU stimulations in past (Can u imagine cost of GPU computer 10 years ago and also little technology) > size of computer and GPU required to run such stimulation and Softwares required> too much pain and money> and now itz so easy and education is also available on internet
Make everything by yourself, without the Team, in a one day..... And get paid as one person, for a one day, right? Concept of speeding up, rushing, and cheap'ization is killing industry slowly. Who accepted work in rush concept.... But EmberGen is game changer, no doubt, amazing software.
This took me a couple months to get right (not working every day) and I would never charge a client one day's labor for something like this. I don't think we should rush effects or lower our budgets, but it is crazy how much power smaller teams have now.
@@RoyalsAndRogues the basics idea is to take a video of an individual faking to be on fire,. Then I'll animate a 3d dummy, that dummy would be taken into embergen for the simulation, then I'll bring back the simulation into after effects or nuke for composition,. But my problem is the realism of the fire 🔥
Not to be that guy, but these haboobs are just sand being blown away by the wind on the ground. In the film the idea is that the sand is literally lifted up and an animated by magic, so its behavior would be something like a tidal wave of sand.
True enough. I would still recommend looking at real storms to ground the effect in reality. I address this in the video pointing out that they used waves as a reference but I think it will always look off to make sand attempt to move like liquid. One of the reasons VFX often gets accused of ruining films is the lack of believability, I think this usually occurs when we ignore reality rather than bending it.
"Don't do it all in one Sim" inspiring advice and a fantastic reminder
Thank you for doing Embergen FX! I'm so excited to see creators give us real in-depth tutorials!
Can't wait to see your short film thank you very much for this
I think the logic of the sand moving upward maybe that it is lifted by magic, not by the actual wind, that look to me good enough motivation
This is one of the best tutorials on embergen or face tracking i've ever seen! i'm glad am subscribed! keep up the great work!
Wow,Thank you for showing this.
Fantastic tutorial! Very inspiring stuff!
Woah, I love this. Thank you sir.
Awesome work!!
Absolutely nailed it man. Reckon Nick from JangaFX would love this
Cool dude will do this
Really neat!
That's crazy how Technology has evolved. You can even achieve blockbuster VFX with just a GPU card.

I’ve wanted to make this effect for so long. Thank you!
Even though I'm not a Cinema 4D user or Embergen user I watched the video till the end, a lot of valuable information and I learned a lot thanks.

Im studying to be a movie director so this serves me well
This is really cool!!!
i'm speechless !
good job man
very inspiring
Awesome work man, this was great!
Thanks appreciate it.
thank you for the amazing tutorials on yt, really well explained and so efficient workflow:)
Very cool tutorial man! Although with headphones on, I was thinking my washing machine finished for like 20minutes haha

I live in PHX too :). Cool tutorial (dabbling into VFX myself)! And I know Mike Olbinski :).
Nice! He seems like a cool guy. Good luck on the vfx!
very useful
Outstanding video and super references. Thanks so much for the hard work! Sub'd and Liked!
Thanks it was a lot of work glad it's paying off for people.
great! can i purchase this project file? thanks!
Can you do a full body filled with electric power? His eyes should be filled with electric power and also strong winds swirling
love itttt
you are the best

it's funny to hear it's name haboob as it's an arabic word, and we use it for the same exact incident.
please make a tutorial on how to make lock wood and co ghost vfx (that glowing one)
First time hearing about this show, looks cool.
Do you have a link to a good example of this effect?

Maybe not 10 minutes, I always lose a lot of time tweaking stuff to get it just right.
But it's crazy how far free or affordable tech has come.

hello bro, please can you set a man on fire with embergen, and how to make it realistic.
would really appreciate if you do
Like compositing footage of someone on fire or igniting a 3D model?
@@RoyalsAndRogues exactly, I tried and it doesn't give the look of a realistic burning fire. I hope you do a tutorial on this😊😊

can u send a lind for maxons app?

That VHS tape roll / Glitch on the final effect is terrible. Get rid of it. 😎
