You hit it right on the head! Feels good is the key. I bought an American Strat, 40 years ago. I have an Epiphone 335 as a back up. Sold my vintage Super Reverb. Got a Boss Gt100 with a powered speaker...with an excellent speaker. Sounds amazing , to my old ears. My old body cant move heavy amps. If my Fender breaks, im buying an expensive guitar. The reason being the wood is usually well aged. I respect that you play a Mexican Strat, but the neck profile is not to my liking. To each his own. The main thing is to practice your ass off. Im rambling, without my reading glasses. Great video.
My '89 Fender "Precision Lyte" is a MIJ. That was what I could afford at the time, and it held the #1 spot for over 30 years. Didnt seem to matter how much $ I threw at new basses, old faithful just played better. It sure helped cure any desire to throw money at new guitars. I did eventually land an American Jazz that took the #1 spot, and it was a complete accident. Work paid us peak season bonuses in on-line gift cards and Guitar Center was on the list. The 75th anniversary bourbon burst finish is freaking gorgeous. Used my gift cards to grab one and flipped my previous Jazz. Literally intended the move to squeeze cash out of those gift cards and have a pretty back up. That bass stealing the #1 spot was unexpected and I consider myself lucky to have finally found a good one. I had come to assume a dead spot from about G sharp on the E to almost the E on the A string was just how Fender Jazz basses worked. Fast forward to pops passing. Most of the cash went into an IRA, but I DID splurge on two new basses from my wish list; a Rickenbacker and a Dingwall. The made in America Rickenbacker came to me unplayable. Angry hornet buzz on the G string and the bridge pickup is so high I'm bouncing strings on it every note. Into the shop it went. The made in China Dingwall came to me perfect and is now my #1. I haven't given up on the Rick, just wild it took me 3 American Fenders before I found one I liked more than an ancient MIJ and now a MIC kicked the QC of a MIA to the curb in an apples to apples shoot out. How it plays > where it was made. MIA QC is not what it used to be.
The affordable market has certainly gotten better, I don't think they ship over the pond but I recently did a review of a guitar that costs $144 U.S. and it plays just as good as a Mexico made strat. I would never knock either side of the camp. I think though when you have to put a considerable amount of money to make something sound good then thats where you have to start to ask would I have been better off buying a higher end. Great video though.
I found my holy grail guitar and amp combo. No more interest in chasing gear. Don't ask me how much they cost though, ROFL! Wish it could have come cheaper, but it is what it is.
Try as many different things as you can, figure out your preferences and then find the best deal you can on a guitar that has all of those! It’s really that simple guys. I like V necks with maple boards on Strats and teles so I play the American vintage ii guitars. If they made a Mexican Strat with a V neck, I’d buy it.
The Japanese, Chinese & Koreans have been making stringed instruments for hundreds of years so a quality made guitar from Asia will sound as good as a quality guitar from the U.S.
Back in my younger days, I was that guy it had to be PRS core models and only Marshall tube amps and Taylor acoustics. These days, the quality of the import guitars is insane. The Squier brand does stuff that the Fender brand can't do because of the old school mentality from loyal players. I have a Squier contemporary Tele that guitar is badass, esp from my hard rock and metal playing. Im running several PRS SEs that I love. I also just bought a CORT Core Series soild blackwood acoustic that is amazing. Im a firm believer that you can tour or play with any gear.
@davidfaustino4476 In a way, yes. I don't think that $3000+ guitars can be competed with by low-cost. Still, I have three guitars that cost less than 250€ that I am totally satisfied with. Yes, I had to work on neck, string height, and intonation, which would hopefully not have been necessary with the high-class guitars. But only little skill is needed for that, and compared to the alternatives, I'll stick with the "cheapos".
I went into my local guitar shops today, to do some legit ‘research’ (😂) played a USA custom shop ‘relic’ tele and OMG 😍. I’m no gear or guitar snob, and in general if I buy a new guitar I want it to look new, but this thing, around £4k, was on another level than anything I’ve ever played before, including my Rick 😵💫
Yeah I dont care about the headstock name or where its made either. But I DO care about not having cheap frets and trash hardware made of soft metals. You dont care about that stuff at all??? 👍🤡🤡🤡
People who spent alot want validation, people who didn't spend alot want validation...in this social media age, it seems like alot of people have a hard time convincing themself that they made the right move without an echo chamber agreeing with them
Play gigs until stuff starts breaking. Snobbery cured.

I know the cure - avoid internet guitar forums. Done.
If it sounds good, if it plays good, it is.
Expensive doesnt always mean great. Sure. But inexpensive means not great significantly more often. You all get that right?

You must buy it then. That's the law. Tell Matt you need it!
I'm by no means a snob but give me Japanese over USA any day
Im way to poor to be a gear snob 😂but owell i enjoy what i have✌😎👍
And that's what's important
the first ten seconds perfectly describe the Biden ad before the video haha!
Hahahaha we don't get those here.
