value systems are funny...what people will pay for a set of new tires for the truck would cost more than an Inspired by Gibson 58 ES 335 epiphone.....the tires will wear out in a few years as well. I've got two epiphones...the 335 and the Casino...love them both....put bone nuts on them and upgraded the output jack on the 335....both cheaper together than a Gibson standard LP..I also take the thick finish off the necks with a scrub pad and make them satin finished..more comfortable. What you pay for in high end guitars is usually resale value or autographs.
One of my bandmates bought the new $1300 Dave Grohl model. I would give it a mixed review. It had a badly cut nut that needed immediate replacement (they weren’t straight so we couldn’t just use a file) and the frets were scratchy and unpolished like you would expect from a $150 squier. The pickups sounded dull imo but could just be the height. Once he paid to have a pro tech fix these issues and give it a good setup it’s unquestionably a nice guitar. I consider them overpriced by at least $300-$400. Compared to two Reverends I bought which live in the same new price range, the Reverends were significantly better.
Epiphone never said they were affordable. Economics has changed all that. Now, if you find a guitar that's labeled "budget" or "affordable," then expect that. Epi has been stepping up their game when it comes to certain things. Don't buy an Epi Joe Bonamassa model and think you're going to pay $400 for it - you're out of your mind. As far as quality complaints I've seen in the comments, maybe it's where you buy them. I bought 2 epi's from Guitar Center, and they were junk (Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me). Guitar Center is known for selling "Factory Seconds," and after knowing that, I never bought another one there again - and never will. And I highly recommend nobody else do the same.
im lucky enough to own a Gibson LP Standard and an Epiphone LP BB3 and to put a cat amongst the pigeons my go to play all the time guitar is a Gretsch LP Junior style Projet,,,Not saying the others are not as good, just my preference.New to your channel,,,,,cheers from Australia ✌😎🤘
Epiphone was competitor to Gibson back in the day. They were premium instruments. Maybe it's a good thing Epiphone are getting better. Respect to their heritage!
YES. Epiphones in 2024 ARE WAY OVERPRICED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doesnt matter if its hard to hear the difference... ones made in China and other USA,,,, The new Epip 59' Les Paul is almost as much as a Gibson Tribute and Studio.....
My rules for buying guitars. (1) Does it make me want to play it? (2) Is it up to snuff hardware wise? (3) Can I justify the price? See how price comes in last?
Those who think all branded guitars are too expensive raise your ✋️. Here is a solution, STOP BUYING THEM. Maybe then the companies will realize the consumer has some power. Nobody will stop buying so guitar players are their own worst enemy. Same thing as people complaining about concert ticket prices or professional sports ticket prices...they keep paying it.
Epiphone is going to be Gibson’s players-line & the Gibson brand will continue to make wall-hangers for blues-lawyers. A pro musician can justify $1,400-$1,900 for a quality instrument that will pay for itself after a few-months of shows.
Epiphones are WAY TO EXPENCIVE! $1699 US for a Firebird made in China that doesn't even have a rosewood fretboard? I've played 7 of these now. The fretwork is terrible. What a freaking Rip Off! I've played multiple $600 Les Pauls that have the same sub standard workmanship but I expect that on a $600 guitar. Gibson has lost their way and their not fully out of the woods with consumers from the Henry Juszkiewicz debacle. I see no future for the Epiphone brand with any longevity if the Management doesn't change course. They can open Gibson garages all over the planet and it's not going to make a difference if they're ripping off consumers with unreasonable profit margins. How much does it really cost to manufacture that $1699 firebird right now in cheap labor China? I'll bet my last dollar that it's less than 500 bucks! Gibson has become greedy greedy greedy and I've washed my hands of them.
Thanks for watching and sorry bout the clickbait again........

I've heard really good things about the Reverends, will have to try one out

It is all about preference man. Like I said, I would rather play my Hagstrom than a Gibson so each to their own. Cheers for the comment!

Back in the 60s they were a sought after guitar. John Lennon couldn't be wrong
No Epiphone should be 13-1500$ like the most recent releases, but i have a Korean made les paul custom and its definitely worth what i paid for it.

Yeah, that’s not hot enough to be clickbait!
Don't be mean.....

The only price consideration for me is "do I have the money?"

Well said
epiphones are harder to make than fenders but are still cheaper

Hahahaha "blues lawyers" - Can I use that???
@@guitarstuffstudio Absolutely! 😂
they cost too much and they have dead frets!
You can buy an Epiphone from $200 on up.
You can. I think some of the newer LP models are coming out pretty expensive now tho
you can get sush good korean and even japanese (vola fgn)guitars for 1200.
I have a few Japanese guitars and they are a cut above a lot of others
@@guitarstuffstudio yeah same. Found a bstock fgn expert flame for 1200€ by far my best guitar (their take on an lp with their own twist)
I got a Hagstrom Super Swede off marketplace and it plays better than any LP I've tried
They should never cost more than 1000.00....at 1500.00 why not buy a gibson
Totally agree. I think in the near future epiphone will become a completely separate brand
