We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

I'm sorry i have not been around for a couple weeks. "helene!" Need i say more. I'm sure you heard about the North Carolina mountains wiping out towns! Well i'm 70 miles east of that. And man did we get tore up here in the foot hills. 10 days no power and no water. But I had a home to get power back on. Alot of those poor people have no homes or businesses any longer. Pray for those people please. Great video. Really enjoyed. Thanks for taking me along. From Shelby N.C. thanks!
I got a new Ram in 2014. It's only got 52,000 miles on it. 👍😜
Love what you are doing with the farm❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, Evan and Rebekah! New sheep. I am very excited for you!
Evan, your farm has really grown this year since you retired to full time farming. Your new ram and ewes are very healthy looking and integrated themselves very well with your current flock. Thanks for sharing, y'all have a Blessed day.
Really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing 😊
Love the names.
I think you guys will really like freeze drying the fruit from you trees for snacks! Also the veggies and garlic for powders.
Great video. Your farm looks great! Thank for sharing ❤
Moe is the boss there, Curly is just a swooner not a fighter. Good luck with the sheep, it looks like they are adapting well. Have a good evening!
The way you two look at each other is priceless. Just saying. Keep it going.
na its not Even !!
Oh, I miss Mom's last of the garden vegetable soup ! Sounds so good ! Thank You Evan ! GOD BLESS !!!
The freeze dryer will be a great addition for you. My wife has used ours for a couple of years now. Highly recommend them!
Great video, hanks for the information. Enjoyed it a lot.
Two things I have heard said. 1 The ram on home ground has an advantage and 2 There is always a chance that the smaller ram because of the height difference and the fact the smaller will hit on the larger ones nose, the largest may end up with a broken neck. Anyone else heard that? Great vid as always 👍
That kitten Spaz is a pistol! Love him❤
Enjoyed your video as always
Great Video, it's really enjoyable to watch and see things go smoothly, Even I got a headache watching heads butt, but it all smoothed out...till next time..Continued Success
I know that firewood shed has been waiting for you for a looong time. lol
Love watching ❤.
Thx
Hi guys!
I used a pair of vice grips to shut off the flow on my spray rig,,,really didn't know they had those you got, I keep saying I'm gonna put ball values so I can shut off either side, anyways another great video
Yes. They are available
Home court advantage also some temperment difference. Always glad to have your posts come up!
Great video Evan.👏👏👏👏
Thanks for posting Evan
Spaz is my new favorite animal. He's a daredevil!
You need to watch Becky @ Acres Homestead she does freeze drying or Living Traditions also good luck 👍
Came here to say the same thing! I love the Acre Homestead channel.
Waving a hand from texas
👋
Great info and video,,,,,we so enjoy all your videos....Your farm looks great! Jim and Sandy in Iowa
My wife is looking forward to the freeze drying videos!!
It's not the size of the ram in fight, it's the size of the fight in the ram!
True mo is stocky while the other one is a bit on the heavy side plus mo look aggressive, too 😆 🤣
Awesome video Evan and Rebecca, got to use the loading chute and it worked like clock work for you. Glad you got some more animals and they settled in over night. Stay safe around there and keep up the great videos. Looking forward to see how you both like the Freeze Dryer after you process some of the veggies. Fred.
Add a couple of gate valves on your spray boom line, it would make it simple to cut off the valves you don’t want to use.
Glad to see you making progress to be more self sufficient. Pray for America and Israel. God is still in control and prayer changes things!
Congratulations on the new sheep.
You can complicate a two card shuffle!
But you can't say, I am not having fun doing it.
We are expecting frost/ freeze tomorrow morning at the golf course I work at. I am getting ready to mow a handful of fairways in order to get ahead for tomorrow morning. ⛳️
Cut wrap off bale before you pick it up, pick bale up and put it over feeder and then cut string, everything falls in the feeder and you dont have to deal with pulling wrap out.
Followed by your favorite girls....because your a good source of carrots and apples.
Wondering if you could go into details about you sheep, rams and goats. What are your plans with growing the herd? Also, are you planning on milking the dairy cows? I just don't remember you guys taking about any of them. 🤷 Thx Evan!!
I forgot to mention about the young bull you can purchase him in the early spring get the use for the spring, summer and early fall by fatten him up on the extra grass then sell him in the fall.
Evan, I don’t recall the breed of sheep you’ve chosen, but if ever you are looking for another source you might check out Walker Club Lambs in Clinton, IN. I know the owner and I think you’ll find him to be a stand up fellow.
That's how Moe from Three Stooges acted: like he was in charge!
Put dielectric grease on your electrical plugs
Great video, I know nothing about sheep or how to introduce them to each other. I can tell you're not a cat person, Spaz is actually a cat you could pick up under the front leg chest area instead of the nape of the neck area. Barnyard cats keeping down the mice population can be a good thing. I suspect Rebecca is behind you guys having cats, they can be useful.
Now you have to find a way to dispose of all that plastic wrap. Does it make enough difference for the extra waste that can't be recycled. If all the homestead people used hay wrap we would need extra landfill. Plastic wrap is like disposing a tire at the dump.
👍👍👍👍👍
Is the new fence line feeder going to be like Farmer Tyler Ranch feeder? Livestock can feed from 3-sides?
Driving a Ford, hauling a Ram.
Moe had home advantage
I would like to see what your pigs dug up.
It has been so dry, the pigs can't really dig. The pig pasture doesn't look disturbed at all, except the spots they lay down.
You want to learn about that freeze dryer go over to cog Hill farms 2:36
I had a feeling you had some animals moving in or out I passed you yesterday afternoon in town with the livestock trailer
Don't turn your back to them, they will hurt you!
Freeze drier jerky time
Yes, I have thought about doing that.
Try some Delectric grease
Go moe
Sheep is a flook cows are heard
11:26 Hey want to ask, that screw with is not to long to be there? Will a cow hurt it self on it??
Why don't you import the Black Belly Sheep?
So why can’t the animals graze on the Sorghum Sudan after the frost?
When Sorghum is affected by frost it starts producing an acid that is toxic to most livestock.
HOPE THOSE CHICKENS DONT PECK WHERE YOU SPRAYED
also the cats that roam
I've never heard someone explain why they keep sheep. Why not just get another cow or two. Do you eat mutton?? Having Sheep seem comparable to having pockets with holes in them?? Could you explain why people have a few sheep on the homestead?
What are you using to kill your grass
The three stooges
curious why sheep 🐑🐏 $ you basically do raised large number for wool production
wool sheep not nessarlly good meat because of lanolin
pets ???
Are the other lambs for meat.
yes, lambs are for meat
Why don’t your rams have horns
@@WyoWellTester katahdin sheep don't have horns.
@@CountryViewAcresdidn’t know that thanks
Katahdins are also known as Hair sheep- they have a coat more similar to a goats, it doesn’t need to be sheared.
