I'm using LRP kid's sunscreen. I thought it was great, but the alcohol smell and the low key burning (not stinging) around the eyes is too much. I use neutrogena sheer zinc (not so sheer) around the eyes and it's perfect except for the white cast on my pasty skin. I really want to find a good chemical sunscreen but have yet to find one I can use on the eye and neck area without irritation/contact dermatitis 😩
@@CassandraBankson 😇
Biossance squalene spf 30 zinc mineral sunscreen and la roche poday anterior mineral lotion spf 50 are the only 2 I have found not to give me a rash.
it blends smooth and easily, it lives no white cast and feels lightweight on my skin. better yet, it doesn’t break me out!
Thank you so much for featuring us in your video ! We here at Black Girl Sunscreen aim to educate melanin beauties all over on the importance of Sun Safety✨ Thank you again and don’t forget to Stay Moisturized and Protect your SKIN!
Make a non-greasy sunscreen :/
@@onthedre have you tried their newer ‘make it matte’ version? That might be better for you
@@jodziebear665 I tried the matte one and ironically it was even MORE greasy than the others. It's a shame because if they didn't add so many oils to the formula it wouldn't be great and it would be the perfect sunscreen
@@ashley1872 thats strange. It goes on silky and if you leave it to soak in for 10/15 mins it works amazingly under makeup. I have oily skin and it actually made my make up too matte, so i add a dewy primer on top of it. Hope you find something that works!
@@ashley1872 Face Theory do a great one, spf 30 though. It has niacinamide in it which is great for controlling oil. And the plus side is if you dont like it, they’ll give you a full refund, they have an amazing policy. 😀
Came here because I saw my favorite sunscreen in the thumbnail.....Blackgirlsunscreen is my FAVORITE I'm in love.
Doesnt break me out. Doesnt leave me oily. No white cast. Just a nice glowy look.
i’m obsessed with it and it makes me want to wear sunscreen 24/7 which is amazing
I’m going to try it! I have oily skin and acne prone skin so I’m scared!
I can’t find it anywhere near me. I want to get it for my brother who is a deep skin tone than me. He never wears sunscreen.
@@junkoe119 it's available at Ulta Beauty!
@@junkoe119 I know you can find it online, and that's so sweet that you want to get something for your brother to use. Mine doesn't even put on moisturizer half the time. 😊

Hahahaha! Me too! I was so ready to go off. I STAN black owned companies!!!
Same!! As someone with dry/ dehydrated skin from an illness, this sunscreen has been a life saver
I am about to get some next time I am in target 🎯!
Sameeeeeee!!! Ive been using it for months and i love it 🥰
The Blackgirl Sunscreen, they actually make a kids version and its almost the same ingredients and its an spf 50. And its costs less than the spf 30 😍
Is it on their website?
Thank you for mentioning !
This! I’ve been using the kids one for months!

I've been desperately looking for a new sunscreen, as mine are close to expiring. I'm having so much trouble finding one that doesn't pill up over my skincare! 😭 The white cast doesn't bother me so much (as I'm basically Casper), but her description of this one sounds so good. And isn't stupid expensive, omg.
I love a glow, I love a hydrating sunscreen, and I love ones that actually do absorb, somewhat. Gotta try this!
LOL my parents used to use the whitecast from sunscreens to tell where they had & hadn't applied sunscreen on the kids. But I was so pale, it didn't make a difference. So they ended up getting sunscreen with that purple cast to make sure they could still tell 🙃 I just remember thinking purple was super cool. Also it smelled like grape
at least your parents take care of you . my parents didn‘t care at all. if we had a sun burn, mama was smearing a ton of yoghurt on our back and said this will heal soon and then you get a nice tanned skin. 😂🙈
Yeah, sun protection wasn’t as popular back in the 60’s, when my mom would take her 2 pale blond babies to the beach for a day...🥵
not purple omg lol but good for you and your parents!!
sounds like a fun story :D in my case my mom made me wear a hat but not much sunscreen. she did focus a lot on after sun care though. aloe cucumber hyaluronic acid XD
That is very good parents!!

I have been watching your youtube videos since you stared and I used to have sever acne myself! I am so impressed with all the knowledge you have gained over the years. Keep up the great work you inspire me. Your skin looks great!
Phew thought you were gonna say the Black Girl Sunscreen was a “no”!

You are so motivational and educational! Thank you so much for introducing me into so many different aspects of skin care from only the screen of my phone!
SO glad you did a review of Black Girl Sunscreen because I purchased it recently and I’m OBSESSED!!!! Obsessed with the mission, the formula, the affordability, I LOVE IT!
That Australian Gold one (comes in a few tints as well though not comprehensive) is really really great for oily skin with less melanin. It can be a beast to remove though. Oil cleanser is the way to go. The Black Girl is another absolute favorite! (I just wish it were a higher spf.) Great video. I want to try the powder now too.
Thank you!!! The Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen is amazing. I can’t tell you how many I tried plus they have a few shades. I wore it all day Friday and I was so happy with it
Thank you so much for talking about the importance of sunscreen the black community and shedding light on supporting black owned businesses! I appreciate you! Just subscribed! 🥰😊
YES I LOVE THE AUSTRALIAN GOLD ONE!! I'm so happy you included it - using it right now 😁
Your segment about BGS was beautiful, Cassandra. :)
Hey guys just so you know DERMA E has a powder sunscreen as well that’s half the price of the ones she showed! An I know it works!! I use it, and I live in NC right by the beach. An I’ve never gotten a sunburn reapplying with that on makeup days!❤️ Also hands down Coola and Tula have the best sunscreens I’ve ever used. They go on sheer, leave you hydrated but not greasy!
I found this very helpful thank you. I struggle knowing what drugstore skincare is good. I was wondering if you’d ever do a Walmart one? If not that’s fine. I still really enjoy this one and really appreciate you taking the time to help us find good skincare 🥰
I now have so many sunscreen options in my stash that I actually use thanks to you and dr dray. Just added 2 more to my cart from this vid. 👏 I really like the Elta MD UV elements spf 44 tinted sunscreen. I mix it with Paula’s choice super light daily wrinkle defense spf 30 to get a lighter shade.
WOOOWW I’m early!

Since I have been taking care of my skin for the past year and a half I have given up my foundation 100% and just been using australian dream. It helps my skin feel so much!
My favorite sunscreen has been sold out on Sephora's website for some time now so I'll be switching to BlackGirl Sunscreen. Cant wait to try it!!
BGS IS AMAZING!!! They have a matte version too if your skin is oily
Great Video Cassandra. I would adore it if you did a video like this on anti-aging peptide products.
Peptides is one of the few ‘classes’ of skincare ingredients I’m extremely undereducated about. I’m interested in using them when I’m a bit older but I have no idea what products to choose or what to look for in a formula
You are one of the best things during quarantine 💚🐞
i loveeeeeee the black girl suncreen .. i reach for this every morning over my others .. id like to try the kids one in this range as its spf 50 x
Your videos started coming up on my Facebook had to come here check out your channel. Love your attitude and how much information you have in your videos! I am really bad at buying things on a whim without looking into the ingredients. Looking forward to learning more! 💜
The sunscreen market in Canada is lacklustre to say the least but I managed to find the Australian Gold after you and Liah Yoo recommended it, and I. Am. Obsessed. I’ve recommended it to so many people.
I'm living for this upload schedule. I'm finally on timeeeee
Your videos have helped & informed me soooo much, thank you for this!
Thank goodness for this 😭 I never know what’s best! I’m using up my neutregena clear skin sunscreen cause I don’t wanna waste product but I had no idea what to get after
I *JUST* bought the “value” size Supergoop. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but the first you recommended sounds lovely. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Thank you for this video! I'm still looking for my favourite sunscreen ever and I'm gonna try out the Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen! Thank you for the recommendations :)
Tysm Cassandra you are great! Always go to your channel for the best advice on skincare . I love that you do cruelty free products and whats best for the environment. I thought buying mineral was the best but I’m glad you debunked that there’s no real proof that it affects the reef . Every mineral one I try always leaves a cast and it gets annoying to reapply. I’m going to buy the black girl sunscreen ! Can you also please do a video about chemical sunscreen. I’ve been hearing people say that it’s bad for hormones and that mineral is better
Black Girl Sunscreen for the WIN!!! Been using it for years and love it! I'm looking forward to trying the matte formula. I use Banana Boat Sport on my body and it doesn't leave a white cast.
I’m going to try the matte formula as well. I was going to get Supergoop for my body. Oh and if you have an HSA or FSA, you can use it to buy sunscreen.
Yey! Someone talking about the Australian Gold tinted SPF again! I've been using this for a couple of years now and it leaves a nice finish on the face. I feel like not a lot of people talk about it. It's also a good makeup base. 😄
I’m an Aussie and I’ve never heard of this brand...where is it made? (I suspect not from down under).
Have a great summer, US butterflies!
It’s a US brand. They sell it in the UK so I’m hoping it has to pass the UK sunscreen standards which are considered more rigorous than the US ones.
Having said that it’s a great sunscreen regardless. It’s zinc based and the formula has a lovely feel!
People look at me like I'm crazy when I use it. I even had my esti look at the body one. It's way bigger, so it lasts longer. She approved. The only downside is the white cast
@@MoonPie44 I think it does pass the UK sunscreen standard.. at least I hope it does as well since I messaged them before asking for the PA/PPD rating that usually US sunscreens don't have and they gave me a rating
@@meganjustice9606 Yea, the white cast is always the problem with mineral sunscreens that's why I use their tinted face sunscreen and it works fine for me 🙂
That Australian Gold is amazing. I have super oily skin and it doesn’t budge, doesn’t burn my eyes and makes foundation obsolete
Yes ! I use the SLMD brush on for touch ups through out the day. Just turn over tap it to make sure you get powered to come out 👍
I needed to find a replacement for my non-cruelty-free sunscreen and this white girl 110% going for the Black Girl Sunscreen. I usually rock the dewy look so it'll do me fine, and it's super affordable. Thanks for the recommendation!
Your channel charmed me, Cassandra, I loved her very much 🖤🖤🖤
Yesss i needed this! Im also glad u got oily skin so you can recommend something thatll work for me :D
I'm so glad to see that the Australian Gold sunscreen is approved by you because it's been my favourite one for like two years. I'm Canadian, and I can get it for $20, so it actually is double the price for me and it's still so worth it. I also used to love the ThinkSport tinted one, and from a skin feel stand point, I still would. However, I'm super sensitive with scents - not in a reactive way, but in a 'I get nasty headaches and feel nauseous' way if they're too strong/linger. I didn't even fully get through the tube before I had to stop using it, which sucked.
I can not tell how many times I have repurchased the Australian tinted sunscreen and I'm so happy they have made even darker tints. It is an auto ship MUST for me!
Thank you so much for your sunscreen recs!!
i’m so happy! yesterday i was looking for a video like this lollll
Hey butterflies 🦋 I found a tinted australian gold spf 50 for $7 at big lots and cvs has cerave tinted spf 30 on sale too!
Bliss Block Star Invisible SPF 30 has become one of my favorites!
Hi!! First off - I adore all your videos. My goodness, your science based approach and the way you present it is just the best and I've recommended you to so many people. I was wondering though, if you might consider looking at some sunscreen products that are in non-plastic packaging. (low or zero waste, if you will) I've noticed there are several brands out there these days and that makes me super happy, but I can't figure out which are the best out of the bunch from a skin science perspective, and I really trust your judgment on all things skincare. So anyway it's just a suggestion for if you have the time and think it might be a worth wile topic, but I think a lot of people would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks again for all your amazing videos!
Thank you for another great video! I use the Australian Gold Botanical Tinted face sunscreen a lot. :-) Could you do some more videos on affordable tinted face suncreens that are SPF 50 that will work for oily and acne prone skin?
Cassandra!!!! Black girl sunscreen makes a kids spf 50 sunscreen and it's $10 for 3 oz. I love it so much, it's so moisturizing on my dry skin and doesn't burn my eyes which usually happens with american chemical sunscreens. I tested it on my boyfriend and he said it didn't burn so I had to give it a go and loved it. Saving it for winter when my skin is dryer
Thanks cassandra , I ordered the Australian gold for my body not the face when I play in the sun. The other zinc moisturizers are white and sticky. I get a a bunch of bugs stuck to me on my 50 mile bike rides. Plus the bottle is a nice size to stick in my back pocket so I can reapply.
Australian Gold tinted, my secret weapon, just love it and haven't found anything that compares and the price is just right!
Truee sunscreen is ridiculously expensive! Thank you for the recommendations! 🐼❤️
I've been interested in BlackGirl sunscreen and the Australian Gold spf. Now that they've got a thumbs-up from you, I'm ready to try them in the future!
If you have dry skin the Australian Gold tinted SPF does cling to dry patches. Use an oil and heavy moisturizer before😊
i started using coola sunscreen since i saw your video recommending it, its the only one that hasn't made my break out that I've tried. So worth the price
AHH YESSS!! Elise I am SOO happy, isn't it the BEST!?!?
GREAT SHARE, PRETTY MUCH ALL I TRULY CARE TO SEE BEING PROMOTED RIGHT NOW!!!
Well, congratulations, you got me excited over sunscreen and I'm actually going to wear it.
Thanku luv your video have a healthy blessed life prayers for all😊💕😊💕😊
Good morning from Norway :) I have fallen in love with La Roche-Posay Anthelios Age Correct SPF 50. I currently use it as my moisturiser, because why not? I tan easily, so I had to upgrade from my Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30 (which I've used all winter - yay me) now that we have had a sudden spell of sunshine here on the otherwise very rainy west coast of Norway.
I wish everyone a nice day.
Be careful with using sunscreen as a moisturiser with a high alcohol content directly on your face as it can dry it out your skin over time and give you a rash. That's what happened to me unless you moisturise well underneath. Just wanted to let you know because I didn't and am dealing with a reaction atm x
@@diamondprincess458 Thank you. I will check my sunscreen for alcohol :) my experience is that my sunscreen tends to pill if I use moisturiser underneath.
@@solveigwI know la Roche has alcohol pretty high on its ingredients so be careful :) Yeah I know what you mean with the pilling it's really annoying but I found it depends on the type of moisturiser you use e.g oil/water based x
Thank you soo much! I always wear sunscreen but couldn't stomach the pricetag of brands like supergoop anymore. Will be skipping out to buy some of these today! Just curious, you said the spf 15 was okay if you reapply. I've read Canadian studies on sunscreen that say anything less than 30 might as well be zero. What do you think? Thanks again for the video❤
Your recent videos have been amazing. Thanks! Edit-I love all your videos...I’ve just noticed a difference lately and wanted to say yay.
A while back ( I can't remember exactly how long ago) Dr. Dray did a sunscreen recommendations video where she talked about the Olay Complete UV365 Daily Moisturizer Spf 30, oil free and formulated for sensitive skin. I've never particularly been interested in Olay product. I kind of always viewed them as being targeted toward an older age group. Anyway, I've gone through at least a dozen bottles of this stuff. I've tried several others since, even Korean and higher end ones, but I always go back to this for daily use. If I'm going to be out and about I use something a bit stronger. I'm oily and acne prone, and this gives me no issues in that department. It gives a glow, but also has a high concentration of niacinamide, which helps with oil control so I'm never greasy. It's a mixture of chemical and physical filters, so I feel like it would blend in for most people. I'm super pale, but my mom is medium olive, and my daughter is a light caramel color and we all can use it without a white cast. For $11.12 at Walmart, ya really can't go wrong. Only thing is that it's just 2.5 ounces, so I go through it pretty fast, but at that price point, I'm not really mad about that. Also, I think it's fragrance free. Physician's Formula has an spf 30 powder that I like pretty well, but like most PF products the shade range is abysmal. The Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish (a mouthful of a name) may not be as easily accessible, or fragrance free, but it's affordable at around $8 or $9. It's very lightweight and non-greasy. It literally feels like nothing at all, and it plays well with makeup.
I borrowed the Thinksport Baby from my nephew and did enjoy it 😂 I have yet to find an organic sunscreen that doesn't sting my eyes (sensi bb eyes) but I am def going to try the Black Girl Sunscreen! Looking for that dew!
Thank you so much for this!!!!
Using the Australian gold one during pregnancy (: Black girl sunscreen is what I used before pregnancy! Both are my favs.
I will say I had a similar experience with Versed, but then I figured out what to do to make it work for me; now it's one of my favourites!
Same, I noticed the graininess towards the end of the tube, but still loved the finish it gave me
I think they just pulled the versed sunscreen due to it being grainy, I believe they are going to reformulate it
@@neptune0144 I just picked some up 👀 do you know when they pulled it?
Thanks for mentioning of oily skin !! I used to love their sunscreen ,the very best on market !!! But,they added my unfavourite preservative phenoxethanol in the one ( only 1 didn't contain it out of all of theirs !! ) ,so stopped buying !! But,now I am thinking of buying this as it's very difficult to find one w/ o phenoxethanol in it !! And this brand is so ~good !! I was worried of this for another reason ...the ingredients look very moisturizing !! But,now you mentioned it ,I am more confident about purchasing it !! Thanks !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
YES to the Australian Gold sunscreen ❤️ The tint is too dark for me but I mix it with some of their kids sunscreen from the same line and it makes the perfect shade for me. (The brand told me to try this when I emailed them requesting more inclusive shades. Don't mix random sunscreens or you can risk them not creating a proper layer on your skin).
Omg I didn’t know I could do that! I been using the Australian gold spf 50 light tinted but it’s too dark for me.
So you’re saying I can mix it with the baby mineral and it’ll be fine since it’s the same brand ?
I'm interested to hear your opinion on sunscreen sprays for the face. Recently I bought La Roche-Posay Anthelios with SPF 50 and it has really good reviews, I'm going to try it today.
The Back Girl Sunscreen Kids is great too! SPF 50 and so moisturizing.
That's the one Dr Dray recommends because of the higher SPF but she's recommended them all.
Love seeing that Australian Gold sunscreen finally get some love from a big UA-camr
Hey fellow butterflies. Love y'all
HEY BOOTYFUL. loves you toooooooo!

LOVE the Australian Gold sunscreen. Often i use that and maybe a bit of concealer for the face (plus blush and mascara). Highly recommended! 👍👍
Hi!! How thick is that sunscreen? I’m interested but I’m worried that it won’t just simply wash off with face wash?
@@religionbritt3908 it is a bit thick but i haven't had problems washing it away (double cleanse)
@@religionbritt3908 I find it goes on nicely but dries quickly so you gotta blend quick. It’s quick thick but offers amazing protection. Taking it off is annoying even for me cause it doesn’t come off the first time.
I asked you the SFP over makeup question on Clubhouse a few months ago 😁 I still can’t believe you answered me 💜
First of all, I absolutely love you ❤️. Love your content, so informative. Can you please suggest some sunscreen that are available in Canada 🇨🇦
I LOVE the Australian Gold sunscreen! So affordable, feels great, doesn't irritate my skin or break me out, and it's available at Ulta too!
Also, quick question about powder sunscreens: I have a few unopened Supergoop powders that have been stored away from sunlight. The package says that they expired in 2020. Would they still be safe to use? I know the minerals may have degraded with time, but since there are no liquid ingredients I thought that might extend the shelf life more. Thanks!
It was recommended to me to always go with what was described as “physical block” sunscreens (zinc oxide/titanium dioxide) vs chemical sunscreens. I was advised that the chemical sunscreens create a false sense of confidence in relation to sun protection. Can you provide some advice on this subject or explain the “false confidence” issue that others have referred to?
Hope your having a great day Cassandra 🥺
Omg, reminds me of the old times. Good to see your face again. I used to watch you almost everyday 😊 like 4 or 5 years ago

You got me good. I thought you was really knocking black girl sunscreen 😂😂😂 I think the stuff is great, but it makes me shine like a diamond, but hey, sometimes I like that.
Could you do a video on how expired makeup is bad (or not) for the skin and when do certain makeup products ACTUALLY expire? And maby a video on noncomedogenic foundations with good ingredients for skin that actually won't cause acnee or clog pores? I think makeup can play a huge role in how your skin looks so I'd love to see some makeup related videos as well 💕💕
Black Girl sunscreen has a spf 50 matte formulation also available in Target. Maybe Ulta as well
Can you use above a gel moisturizer ? Or does it stay matte regardless of the moisturizer in use?
It stays matte. I'd recommend a moisturizer along with the matte spf. The matte formulation isn't a moisturizing as the regular formulation. Which u could use in place of your moisturizer because of the ingredients
I have been using black girl sunscreen for 2 years now. My dark patches have faded out. I put it 3 times a day when I am out and about. I highly recommend especially to mature women❤
I protected the like button with sunscreen and omg it actually applied it!!!
Cassandra.. i would love to know what u think about the derma e scar gel? 🥰
I've been using Bubchen spf50 sunlotion and it's good enough although it does get greasy. Sanosan suncream is cool too.
I plan to try Mustela(the chemical sunscreen available in Europe) and Bebble's sunscreens soon.
Really sanosan is great? Isnt greasy to apply?
