The problem with Wolves is good defense but stagnant/unreliable offense. No defense can really stop a good offense, best they can do is slow the offense down. So the biggest part the Wolves are missing is when they are able to slow down the Nuggets they do not have the offense to take advantage.

Who. The last time the Spurs actually gave Wemby some real minutes (+30) he blocked JOKIC 7 times and the other game he held JOKIC to 22 points in a upset win Spurs over Nuggets. The first two time they played Wemby played 23 and 25.minutes.

Jokic have a shooting averages of 55%.
If you are DPOY... And a 4x DPOY at that, you should be able to hold Jokic to below 55% shooting average.
Sure Jokic might get his 40 pts... But the goal is to make it less efficient for him to do that.
Golbert held Jokic to 88% shooting averages.
Sure it was only 9 shots total, and Jokic passed the ball a lot, but Jokic also had 0 turnovers and 13 assists.
So Rudy allowed Jokic to shoot stupidly high %, and didn't force him to make any turnovers.
This is why Rudy isn't deserving of the DPOY this year. Because how much of it was Rudy and how much of it was the wolves? The rest of the wolves held Jokic to a lower % shooting...
FYI: When primarily guarded by Gobert, Jokic shot 23/44 from the field. And if you were to exclude the ONE historic game that Jokic had in game 6 going 8/9 on Gobert, he shot 15/35 from the field against Gobert 🤷🏾♂️

Not really AD just hasn't been as healthy as Gobert. Like last year AD shoulda won DPOY but he missed 26 games. And this year the Lakers were 17th in def rating. Which is a flawed stat but if you gave AD the DPOY this year there would've been an outrage especially after they got swept
@BigBroKuma Davis played 75 games in 2017-18 season, while Gpbert played 56 games and Gobert still won DPOY. Davis deserved the award.

The problem with rudy is hes not physical. Against forwards who use athleticism to score, he can easily challenge their shots. But against a physical player like jokic or embiid, hes not as effective. Thats why pj tucker, dwight howard and deandre ayton had more success against jokic than rudy ever had.
Ppl forget rudy just actually play physical because of how they are officiated so its a 2 way argument cause he would be great in early 2000s but not that he plays in this era he simply gone look different

I’m sure I’ve seen like 2 shots he’s contested on Jokic where it’s was great defense just a ridiculous tough shot, vast majority of the shots Gobert has barely even got a hand up nor jumped vertically for Jokic to have to shoot directly over him. I’ve seen Jokic more contested against Kat and Naz as his primary defender this series.

I don’t think Rudy is overrated but this is exactly why I e long held of all the awards, this one is the weakest and we shouldn’t have it. They only give it to the guy who usually leads in rebound or shot blocking average. Not even totals, lol. Rudy should provide at least some resistance but Joker is smart, uses an obviously bigger body and can get whatever shot he wants. Stoppers, stop people close to half the possessions.

We have nostalgia for 1 on 1 defense. In the 3pt era 1 on 1 defense is less important than help defense which rudy is elite at. With that said rudy is a liability and its not because of his defense. He is a terrible offensive player he cant even take advantage of smaller players which hurts them

I can’t value Rudy 4 time DPOY nowhere near as much as Mutombo or Ben Wallace. Dwight Howard won 3 DPOYs consecutively. As a 4 time DPOY you gotta be able to somewhat slow Jokic down and he failed miserably. Usually when Jokic has 40 points he loses but this was straight domination. Also Rudy was not AWESOME in 2018. That’s rookie D Mitch putting the Jazz team on his back averaging 29,7,3 against OKC that first round. No one expected the Jazz to win that series
This is why i don't care for analytics. Only analytics can make Rudy look elite. Anyone with eyes can see that he looks like a baby giraffe out there on defense. AD and Wemby can literally guard all 5 positions and they make players think twice. Players avoid AD and Wemby but ask for screens to go at Rudy. It's a travesty that he has 4 DPOY awards
