I'm a seasoned fpv flyer and driver. And for a beginner video, you did a great job. You stated the good of everything, and bad of everything. And also did test runs, which I thought was awesome
This is the video I needed because I want to to put cameras in all my 5 scale cars but didn't know what I would need to do it. Thanks kev this video is spot on. Thanks for info
one important thing kevin !! when you buy a video transmitter you have to make sure that it can reach or match the same channels and band or raceband as the receiver (channel range) exemple , immersion rc transmitter (the tramp) does not work with all receivers , be careful with the raceband transmitters (immersion rc and akk )are some of the best and well known fpv transmitters they can go from 24 , 32, 48 and 72 channels and from 25 milliwatts to 1.5 watts , personally i use immersion rc transmitter at 600 milliwatts in my long range planes and my tarot 960mm filming drone and akk transmitter in some rc trucks , and never had an issue ! thanks kevin for the video
Here's the thing I'm going to be most interested in Kevin: when I have FPV'd some RC cars and trucks and then try to drive them fast, racing against my brothers and stuff, the image is always so bouncy and jittery and violent that it's really hard to see where the heck you're going and avoid obstacles and actually enjoy it. So what I've been trying to figure out is the simplest and lowest cost way to create a smooth stable FPV image on RC cars. THAT would be a little project and video I'd love to see you do!
rubber band gimbal/microphone shock mount looking thing inside the car for the fpv camera will make it smoother, you just have to find the right tension in the bands
@@stephendeben1590 That will absorb shock but little damping, which means it really isn't going to help much...still going to be bouncy as heck in the image and really hard to actually enjoy the FPV driving experience.

You can increase the range of those Eachine TX03 and TX05 cameras from 25mw to 50, 100 and 200mw by pressing the button on the transmitter part. I took my drone out to 600 meters and didn't lose signal. Also highly recommend Eachine EV800D box goggles for about 100 dollars. They have "diversity" meaning two recieving antennas, one short range the other long working in tandem to create static free image. You can record footage to sim card with them too. Had mine nine months used daily without issue.
Dude you are freaking awesome I just came from learning how to fly drones in FPV and all that and I recently just got into RC cars and I'm getting a traxis X Max But I've been watching your videos so far and you have covered everything that I like to see. From upgrading your RC cars too now making an FPV RC cars which I didn't know was a thing until I started looking around and I'm surprised to see that some people are kinda into it. I came from drones because they're too hard to fly LOL and RC cars are way cooler but thanks for making all these videos you are freaking awesome love from the United states, Washington state. You are already my favorite RC you tuber, like the FPV drone world I did not know the RC world, let alone the RC FPV world existed I'm glad I'm here and I'm glad I found you. subscribed on all devices.
What a coincidence!!! I was searching for fpv info. this evening and I found nothing, then I remembered in the live stream fpv with pat and as I was searching the livestream, the notification for this vid poped up😁😃. Your the best kev💯 keep it up! Tks for everything
Kev, that Eachine ROTG you use with your phone works even better with a Windows 10 laptop although the better the laptop spec the better it runs. All you need to do is connect it to the laptop with usb cable and then open the camera app that comes with windows 10, once the camera app is open select the second camera and then your ready to go flying/driving.
Love your content Kevin! I want to get into this but I wonder if the tech is any better since this is an older video. Would love to see an update maybe on your second channel? Cheers!
i watched many videos trying to learn how to set up an fpv set up and I must say you nailed it, you made it easy to follow and gave lots of examples thanks for sharing this 👍👍👍
I am getting ready to get a head tracked x-maxx 8s going. I got head tracking working on crossfire and regular spektrum systems. I am going to use a DJI air unit and goggle system with it with a transparent body kit so I can see through the entire body.

Kev is finally going down the FPV Rabbit hole!!! Don't forget about the split cameras like the runcam split mini, caddx turtle v2 and tarsier that also do onboard HD DVR :)
Thanks bro that helped alot. I had an old drone laying around that had a decent camera on it and i just ripped that off the drone and on to my arrma truck and it worked
Great video kev really liked learning your view of FPV. 10 people thumbs down 👎🏻 lol they must suck hahah very funny. By the way I clicked thumbs up 👍🏻. Great video again kev. See you soon for a live. 😊😊😊😊😊
Good video to help the noobs Kevin. Thank you. But I think you missed the best value and most accessible type of display for those who are starting our. "Box goggles" are the way to go. Slam dunk with either of these: Eachine EV800D or Eachine VR D2 Pro. You can get them usually between $75 to $85, sometimes on a special sale as cheap as $50 or $60. Nice big display. Comfortable for most people. That's what I've been flying with for over two and a half years and I still don't feel a strong need to upgrade.
@Kevin Talbot, I am going an odd direction. I need to make a slow moving vehicle (very small... 3" - 8" long), and a LOW LIGHT camera with MACRO capabilities. I'm NOT making a fast drone or vehicle nor am I taking pictures of vast landscapes. Smaller goal - ability to navigate on the ground and to see in low light. Suggestions on the camera side? I think I can figure the rest out.... Thanks!
Love the video. I had to laugh at your reciever (transmitter) mix-up. I laugh because I'm an amateur radio operator and i do it once in awhile. Can't wait to see your new videos with fpv.
I have a question on the camera connection. Most of simple cameras use 3.3-5v source. The author uses 1s battery for that, which is nice. I was just curious, if I connect the battery directly to the camera, it will draw the juice until the battery dies, right? I suppose this approach has no low voltage protection and I have to manually time-measure the camera usage and change batteries before they go low. Is it gonna damage the battery if I forget and leave it on for long? So I decided to hook up to a receiver channel. it gives 6v and I used a step-down circuit to get 5v. So this way it takes current from the main battery, which is protected by ESC.
for all the things in the full fpv kit costs around £70 including postage, (to my area) this is also with 5 battery's but you can buy one and save money
I recommend that stuff for a crawler because for things like short course and truggy it wouldn’t be much use dependent on the frame rate and the speed because ur gonna crash straight away
Will the cameras that come built into the drone and their transmission works on the 5.8 frequency also connect to the monitor? Or do you need another camera to add to the drone for it to work?
I've had a couple of cameras all-in-one connected works fine then pop glow up so much smoke from such a little device so I stopped looked around everything I found was American so hopefully I'll be able to figure this out
Hi Kevin and thanks for an other great vid! I am very interested in fpv and rc's, I think it could be a lot of fun! I will put one into my Summit if I can get all the components here in Sweden, but I belive the Summit is a great truck for fpv. What do you think? All the best / Peter
Hey great video! Quick question, when running the camera off the cars own power and not a separate battery, does the camera just need 5v to work? So long as it's limited to that it should run just fine? Could it be run off the servo motor?
Can you cut off the female jst connector then put a male on and plug it into the same thing you would plug lights or a servo into? You know what I mean? Edit: I have the indoor deadbolt crawler (it’s the exact same as the small yellow car you have) help pls
