I know that nobody cares, but when I was about 14-15, I was ranked in the top 100 on red alert 2, played Iraq, and did the dog tank rushes. Created a few maps as well with rock walls at either base with one inlet and a nuclear reactor and oil refineries in the middle to control. As far as I know, people played them for quite a while. I truly miss this game. Played France a lot due to the cannons.

My first time watching a PRO game! its so amazing and the commentary is outstanding, I'm slow player and usually like to play just singleplayer so seeing how fast and how multidimensional they play make me awe so much, this game is huge part of my childhood and had a lots of fun playing it, the sense of control and great sense of freedom made my ape child brain go high, I did return to it recently and its better then I remember, our little corner in the internet is lovely.
@@renzzodeguzman it's hard. You would need to download a program to run Windows on your laptop and then in theory it should work but a lot of MacBooks just can't handle it and lag
red alert 2 was the 2nd or 3rd RTS game I ever played. The others were starcraft, warcraft, and of course age of empires (3) - so happy to see that this game still has a community

Red Alert (2/Yuri Revenge) is one of my all-time favorite games, but it's only now that I'm curious to research championships. I figured it would be interesting since I've always played with bots. And who knew that even today, there are people who post content from the franchise ♡
Wow, so glad to see this game is not forgotten. I remember trying to find a way to get it and play it several years ago and couldn't find it anywhere (as in legally, not pirating it, I'm sure that way I would've found it) Coming from Starcraft: Broodwar, you can see that RA2 was made for fun, not for balance. The number of units and strategies seem to be very, VERY limited. A bit sad. In regards to other comments, while I can't wait to see if I can play RA2 again (if it even works on Linux), this game is NOT the greatest RTS or game ever made. Still it's a very nice, fun one. But the multiplayer seems to be its weak point if this is how typical high level matches look like. Also, for some reason, I don't remember drones. And seeing them here, they look very OP and un-fun. waay too gimmicky. I mean, the dogs and desolators are gimmicky too, but the drone seems to be an entire level above, way too fast and good vs everything on ground.

It's a game with a small amount of units and endless tactics. Once you learn the game it makes more sense, but also this is RA2, Yuri's Revenge has a lot more units used.
Dogs act as shields to absorb enemy tank fire. It's really dumb, they should be infantry, but they're too slow. Oddly enough it was the original intention by the game designers for dogs to be used in this way.
so I have a theory. I found QIEN's youtube channel and saw some of his videos. I noticed that he plays Chinese version of RA2 (like all text in the right hand side is in Chinese). I doubt that a Russian guy would use Chinese version of RA2. secondly, his name sounds Chinese, especially if you break it to Qi-En. really don't know why would he lie about nationality.

@Iver yes I have been playing it for 22 years. I was confused because I tried generals and all the rest back then and did not like them. My son plays Red Alert 3, but again, I just don't like it. I'm with a small group that still plays this on the CD version. I like yuri because it lets you pick your starting position, which is great for teaching and covering a new player. And the new units. We never play yuri. And no prism tanks. What version do you play, steam? And what mods do you play. I bought the base game on Steam But I missed yuri. I just found out they have it!

just out of curiosity, why do they just make dogs and these tanks? as a non c&c player it really looks weird and kinda pointless in not using other units. maybe thats how its supposed to be played
Enemy tanks will auto target the dogs and in the process make your tanks get shot less. It's really stupid but a bonefied aspect of the game and actually seems to have been the developers original intentions, in the early guides they talk about using dogs in this way.
In the first game, why did he build desolators vs rhinos. Wouldn't it be better to make Tesla Troopers instead + Sentry Guns for the dogs while making more Rhinos on the back.
Meta at the top level does not allow for any infantry beyond deso or dogs as soviet. Desos are the most powerful unit in the game, even undeployed they take like 9 tank shots to kill them so shield your tanks nicely. Deployed of course they are capable of doing unlimited damage to unlimited units. They are very strong.
Qien played great, but Marko played absolutely terrible in this match. As commentators we always want close games. If Qien had been playing terrible we would have been cheering for him.
Rubber shoes in motion. I remember playing this game well just red alert 2 online for the 1st time after school back in the 2000s. I built like a shit ton of terror drones nd the dude sends a big army at me so i made 3 groups of drones one on each side of him and the last would hit him from the front. So the ones in the front starts getting destroyed so at the same time the ones from the side hit him hard dude wasn't pissed off at getting his butt kicked by a 15 year old was just surprised that no one he fight ever thought about doing that. We would play against each amd exchange battle tactics with each other ahhhh good times

There's two ways to play online. Cncnet is what me and most of the world use. Rambo is what China uses. Qien plays a lot on Rambo.

just out of curiosity, why do they just make dogs and these tanks? as a non c&c player it really looks weird and kinda pointless in not using other units. maybe thats how its supposed to be played
Enemy tanks will auto target the dogs and in the process make your tanks get shot less. It's really stupid but a bonefied aspect of the game and actually seems to have been the developers original intentions, in the early guides they talk about using dogs in this way.

In the first game, why did he build desolators vs rhinos.
Wouldn't it be better to make Tesla Troopers instead + Sentry Guns for the dogs while making more Rhinos on the back.
Meta at the top level does not allow for any infantry beyond deso or dogs as soviet. Desos are the most powerful unit in the game, even undeployed they take like 9 tank shots to kill them so shield your tanks nicely. Deployed of course they are capable of doing unlimited damage to unlimited units. They are very strong.

Rubber shoes in motion. I remember playing this game well just red alert 2 online for the 1st time after school back in the 2000s. I built like a shit ton of terror drones nd the dude sends a big army at me so i made 3 groups of drones one on each side of him and the last would hit him from the front. So the ones in the front starts getting destroyed so at the same time the ones from the side hit him hard dude wasn't pissed off at getting his butt kicked by a 15 year old was just surprised that no one he fight ever thought about doing that. We would play against each amd exchange battle tactics with each other ahhhh good times
