We have lots of barrier islands that help buffer hurricane impact and they've been eroding for years, with lots of dredging projects and attempts to replenish the sand on the islands. However, a larger study found the natural process is erosion and movement of land and sediments from the Louisiana marsh and MS barrier islands towards Florida, replenishing the peninsula. Likewise, the MS River replenishing Louisiana marshes and MS. Also, as a MS special education teacher were under staffed due to a lack of salary. Our recent "pay raise" was the first sin e the 70's when the state made it illegal for teachers to protest. It was so small and insignificant the union referred to it as "a slap in the face." It's one of of the top professions for required education and expectations but lowest pay. They're opening the new Bucee's here and teachers are leaving schools to work there because the benefits are better.
