This (for some reason) reminds me the game mechanich of spyes in Red Alert 2. If you manage no infiltrate one, you gain a new unit or tech depending in wich building and faction the spy entered. A spy as Unic unit would by crazy in AOE2
Yeah, going full Red Alert would be a bit much, but it's fun to think about. Stealth units are also intriguing, as there's a ninja unit in the Scenario Editor, and SWGB had an interesting way for how stealth could work.

It may have been patched out, but I remember there was a time where an Obuch converted by a Sicilian player could build donjons.
Yeah, that was patched out pretty early on but IIRC it worked because Obuchs were copy/pasted and reskinned Serjeants
