The amazing U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D from the hit TV show Star Trek - The Next Generation is now available to build from the folks over at Fanhome. This model is a 27.5 inch die-cast replica of the Galaxy-class starship. It is completed in 120 stages which is roughly 30 packs.

I'm guessing those springs were intended to be switches but the idea was later scrapped and the design was left in. You could probably skip putting them in and save some extra work. Like a lot of things with this kit, the designer must have had an entire bottle of scotch when he had this on the drafting table.
It wasn’t Scotch. It was… green.

Wenn ich an das Kabelwirrwarr denke, reicht eine Flasche Scotch als entschuldigung nicht aus! Da muss er schon mehrere intus gehabt haben.
When I think about the clutter of cables, a bottle of scotch isn't enough of an excuse! He must have had several of them.
Is it possible that the springs come into play when the saucer section is attached? Pushing the spring-loaded phaser banks down so the saucer can be attached to the engineering hull in a more flush manner?
@Mel-md6cb No, in fact it's still a mystery how the saucer actually attaches to the neck. There's no way those little pieces on the top of the neck are going to hold up that incredibly heavy saucer.

I'm still waiting for pack 1, i just decided to get into it a couple of weeks ago. Apparently though, it seems that a lot of other people have as well since there is a delsy due to lots of demand and they need to restock. I blame you Wayne 😅

I’m going to be getting pack 24 within next week or 2 I don’t think I’ve had more than a few spare parts in that box never had to use it for screws. I wish the cobra next was hardwired into the lower decks instead of a battery if anything that would be a great mod option

I notice you’re not doing anything about lightbleed from the black windows (yet?). One other build I’m following on YT has each black window insert being backed with black insulation tape cut to size! Though that said, it didn’t look like there was ANY lightbleed from the two sections of windows you just did - have they improved the design?

HI World of Wayne is it safe to use a dap glue to hold in the led lights?
You cannusenglue but it shouldn't be needed . You don't want it flowing through the windows and either going on the Hull plate or window itself. I have used any glue for the windows
While I am really interested in this model (its what got me into partworks), I want to see how you handle light bleed issues and how the saucer mounts before I try it.
I've seen some people use electric tape, which seemed to work really well.
As far as how the saucer attaches to the stardrive, section... No one really knows yet, there as been some speculation, but nothing definative yet since no one is that far along yet.
How much does it cost for subscription
Are those frame connectors different to the last version? I thought they used to be a lot thinner, but my memory isnt good these days lol.

If anyone wants to buy a semi-assembled start to the original kit, I’m willing. I think I got up to kit 25 before they went under and I couldn’t afford to keep up with the relaunch.

Has ANYONE figured out why the phaser banks are spring-loaded yet?
Nope
Perhaps they'll be buttons to make pew pew noises? seems a bit odd to have them spring loaded for no reason
Maybe a way to have them pushed out more without needing to screw them in super tight and wrecking them.
According to eaglemoss it is "a structural design that makes the fitting of the part more malleable".
Nope they don’t do anything except seem like a bit of playability but it’s a model. I think that’s what they originally had in mind though supposed to be buttons and someone changed it while it was still a prototype
Remember, if you don't want to put and make mods, don't instal the lights or atlest don't turn them on. You will cry.
