The AMG news on the sunset of Armada happend between filming and editing of this video. Hence my intro. But I think this video can now be even more relevant when we will have to fall back on 3d-printed third party products. If you have any questions, just let me know in the comment and I'll try to answer them all.
This close to what I have in mind for my republic fleet when it is finished. At the moment i’m working on learning to get the 3D prints perfect and learning how to airbush, mainly mixing paints correctly atm. This does excite me for the end product.
Great tutorial. I’ve always wanted to paint my ships a bit, but was always a bit unsure on the methods to do so. This helped clear up some questions I have. Thank you!
You are welcome, thank you for your nice feedback. Those pigments are awesome, my mind is already spinning about what else I can do with them. They are so easy to use.
Amazing! Welldone, these look awesome. Thank you for uploading this, really appreciate the detailed guide too with paints! I had been waiiting ever since you posted your acclamator in the subreddit.
Gotta say, I never heard of that way of using fluorescent paints before. But from the top of my head: Everytime I tried any different way of using fluo paints, except for the pigments, they were a letdown when it comes to light reflectiveness. Only the pigments brought the desired effect for me. Also they are incredibly easy to blend and apply. Last point: Painting semi translucent colours over metallics always achieved an odd feel for me. I tried making coloured metallics before but it always looked plastic-y and wrong. Hard to describe it. But as I said, I never tried it, this is just me talking out of my a§§. Thanks for your comment though, I will be looking into this.
@@arthyficial maybe the powders over the chrome rather than the white, IDK I'm not an expert with any of the florescent products and exactly how "hot" they look over the internet tends to vary wildly based on peoples lighting and video setups. Or maybe something like a blue ink over the white fluorescent powder, or the white powder over a regular blue?
@@TheMichaellathrop I will def try it out next time. One might get more light reflection out of it. But due to how light and wavelenghts work, the blue one will always be second fiddle to the orange, red or yellow fluo paints, sadly. But blue fluo paints will always be more intense than normal blue paints. But there is a reason why we have orange, or yellow warning vests and not blue ones 😅
Looking sweet dude. Personnaly I would switch the powder for a white ink and contrast applied with an airbrush. Do you know any good 3Dmodeler for Armada since the game has been axed ?
Thanks. Unfortunately not yet. The best ones are from Mel Miniatures but he refuses to offer the STL's. But I found a handful of good models here: resinengine.com/page/1/?s=stl haven't tried them yet though.
I bought the orange one over 10 years ago from a painter and modeller called Forged Monkey. They do not offer them anymore since then. (Speaks for the longevity of those pigments though, still as strong as the first day). So I got all the others from Green Stuff World. So I'd say also orange and red are good from their range.

I'll be using this extremely informative video hopefully in the next few weeks. I cannot thank you enough!
@@chilescross9205 Glad I could help. Have fun painting
This helped me sooooo much as i jaut ordered counterfeit star wars armada ships, and didn't know how to go about painting them.

@@ghostapi874 Sounds great. Wish you good luck with your project.
Amazing job!

Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
Great painting and highlighting tips! I didn't know about fluorescent pigments. I'll have to give them a try!

Thanks for sticking around, your patience and happy painting.
This is a fantastic video tutorial for up and coming painters. Thank you so much for the specific paint colors!
Thank you for your very nice comment
Very nice work. :) Feel free to do as much Armada/ X-wing ceontent as you like! I think many of us would appreciate it atm.
Thanks for the nice feedback. I will keep it in mind. Maybe a Venator...
I love the editing of this video but the best part of it in my opinion is the intro👍🏻.
Happy it didn't go unnoticed.
Cool 😊
Glad you like it.
That looks awesome! I wonder if this would also work on 3D-printed ships?
It should. Unless the layers are too aggressiv and visible. Then you'll unintentionally highlight those. Resin prints with 2 microns should be fine.
What about painting the engines with a chrome paint instead of a white and then going for a florescent ink over it?

Still going strong with another one I see.
I try to keep my "one vid every second week"-streak going.
Really nice! Makes me want to dust off my Armada collection
Thank you, giving inspiration is one of the highest praises for a video in my books.
But that's only halfway done 😂
