    This is awesome. One thing worth mentioning is that some blue fire boost pads give different levels of blue fire, too. For example, the first USF pad on Twilight tour gives a significantly slower USF than the one on top of the stall after taking the wooden ramp near the end.
    Same applies to Deep Sea Driving, where the USF pad immediately before the open cavern with the jumps is far slower than the one before the tentacles and saw blade. So if you get hit by the tentacles or blade, you’re much slower overall for the rest of the lap than if you hadn’t gotten hit.

    I don’t get 100% right. Can‘t you just hold down and break button at the same time after a blue fire to have the blue fire all she time since down+break doesnt deplete any reserve?

  • @sonicfangamer101
    @sonicfangamer101 Місяць тому

    Maintaining and building up your reserves to keep your red and blue fire is absolutely crucial in order to beat the game's time trial ghosts especially for the Emperor Velo time trials, which is absolutely mandatory for you to master the game's reserve system. Basically you're required to constantly maintain and keep your red or sacred blue fire by constantly drift boosting, jumping off ramps and hitting as many turbo and super turbo pads as you can. If you don't do this, you're never going to beat Emperor Velo's ghost times in the time trial mode.

    I always have trouble keeping blue fire, mainly in tiny temple, for some reason every time I land before the split track my fire turns off. any helpful advice?

    • @btastic2
      @btastic2 4 роки тому +8

      Use the first lap just to build up reserves. Try not to hit the walls and keep the momentum. Go for 3x perfect boosting. At the end of the first lap, you should have enough reserves to have it until after landing. Then start drifting immediately. Another tip on tiny temple: first lap hit thx "?" box. Going around left might seem to be longer, but it is a more natural curve and opens opportunity to drift boost there as well. Then it is basically just 3x perfect boost the whole lap, wherever you feel comfortable. Also you can try using an acceleration character. It did it for me atleast. One more tip: you can always drift up the boost/jump pad which gives blue flame, makes it easier to keep it after landing. good luck! Took me a solid 2 hours to beat oxide.

    • @TheViperian
      @TheViperian  4 роки тому +4

      best tip I can give you is to build up reserves by drift boosting non-stop as soon as the race starts (Reserves are mentioned in the video). YOu lose your blue fire most probably because you dont have sufficient reserve left to keep the blue fire. You can take a look at this run and copy what I do

    Question: does blue fire deplete your reserves? Or are your reserves constantly being built up from start to finish, ie you always have more reserves at the end of the race than the start? if that is so then blue fire must give your reserves a huge boost? Ive also noticed that the big jump on electron avenue is the only track Ive seen the reserves bar go right up to the top in the red. Can you comment on that effect also please?

    • @TheViperian
      @TheViperian  4 роки тому

      Hi Josh, I think you got the reserve system wrong. Let me explain.
      The bar you see on the right side is NOT the reserve bar. It is actually the "Jump Height Bar". The higher 'air time' you have, the higher the bar goes up. So it's just an indicator to show how high up you are, that's why in electron avenue it goes up SUPER high.
      Now, Reserves. You can imagine Reserves as your "Fuel" in a fuel tank. It doesn't matter which fire you have (Sacred Fire, Blue Fire), as long as you have reserves, that fire will last until reserves are fully depleted.
      Whenever you do a boost or receive a fire, your reserve will go up, and then slowly deplete down. Having blue fire doesn't increase your reserve, It just means that for the remaining of your reserves, it is blue fire.
      Now, to make your RESERVES LAST LONGER is where the skill part comes in. I mentioned before, everytime you boost or touch a turbo pad, you will build up reserves... Which means, in order to have blue fire last for a long time, you will need to constantly drift boost to build that reserve up because it continuously depletes. I hope that answers your question :)
      P.S. Yeah I'm planning to do an updated guide!

      @@TheViperian Ah Ha ok, thanks heaps man! Lol I actually bought this game for my kids, I played the original a lot back in the early 2000s, but now Ive become re-addicted to it! Its a bit different this time although as I am determined to master it now. I love how there are so many levels to this game, from beginner to world record holder there is something for everyone and I am loving it more than my COD collection haha. Its cool too because back when I was playing the original version you couldn't just go to You tube to get some tips or advice for a hard spot. So Thanks again for the help and advice!

    You can also save your reserves by hopping. So blue fire will stay while you're in the air. So, if you hop, you spend less time on the ground. Hence, more speed.

  • @JakeLondonRivers
    @JakeLondonRivers Місяць тому +1

    Ngl I’ve platted this game before but returning to do time trials and this mechanic pisses me off. It seems I randomly lose flames sometimes when I shouldn’t be - and also the blue meter makes no sense? Is that supposed to be how much reserves? It never correlates how I think it should

    • @pan1884
      @pan1884 22 дні тому

      I'm pretty much a noob so I have no answers or tips for anything else, but I noticed from my own play testing that - if this is the one you're talking about - the vertical blue meter above your boost meter is how long you were in the air during your last jump! It corresponds to how long your boost will be when you land.

    This video was very well made. I was going to point out that Retro Stadium also has super turbo pads, but I think that track is a PS4 exclusive.
    Also, just a technicality - USF isn’t in CTR:NF. Blue Fire/Blue Flame is simply the new USF. USF worked differently in CTR.
    Other than that, well crafted! And thank you for the video shoutout at the end! 😎
