Great review, a lot of time and effort went into this. I never seen the point in these pumps until I decided if I get it it will cut back in carrying a lot of different things, now I love it and considering upgrading from the small 1 to the max pump 2. Good luck on the great glen way. ATB Gus
Great review Richard, thanks. I have an Exped 7 and it does take some inflating manually as you point out. Will be adding one of those pumps to my kit list! What a great bit of kit. Cheers Mel
These are the two I've used . Long story short, the smaller one's retaining screws (under fan, and yes I have a screwdriver that fits 😂), came loose. They sent me, even though I fixed the issue, the pump pro x2. IT IS GARBAGE. I.E IT DOESN'T LAST LONG. I have had 2 pump 2x pro.umits that lasted a total of about 6 momths? THAT SHOULD BE THE ONLY REASON NOT TO SHELL OUT SO.MUCH £££ ($$$). It is really hit and miss with flextail. They aren't Samsung or Ferrari...so I went and bought the rectangular one last night (4th unit 'purchased' in a year of daily use. I know they look great. So does the hessian bag for a week until the stitching falls to pieces. So, sadly, very sadly, flextail do not seem interested in longevity.😢
I would say carrying a lamp/light, + the emergency phone boaster the size is reduced in carrying capacity, Yes I do have a power pack but for two or three night's could have you out of trouble.
Too bad the mini isn't designed quite as well as I think the size, weight and capacity of the mini is better suited for most backpackers. Either way, excellent review!
The question to me is how long will the battery life be over time. Let it sit for 9 months and see if it will still take a charge. Will it work in 3 years? Everything is battery powered these days, but how long will these batteries last?
That looks really handy and a great review is there many wild campers actually using inflators like theses as I watch a few UA-camrs and I’ve not seen them being used? 👍👍😁
I tried both, get the pro version. Trust me. With the pro u don’t have to carry any attachment at all. The built on nozzle for the pro will fit the Nemo pad almost perfectly, It will leak a small bit of air but the the sure power of air pumping in will compensate that. I do have the fillo pillow and it will work with that type of connector too. But unsure if it will work great on that style if u have the pad as I don’t own one. Get The mini version one, if u are into light weight backpacker and concern about space, but it takes time to put on the adapter and start pumping.
Does anyone know how long the battery will keep the light on? Unfortunately, the company did not write this information in the product description.. In addition, £38 is too expensive for this product
I wonder how freezing temperatures affect the battery life? The cold is when moisture from your breath can affect sleeping pad “R” ratings. As long as it keeps on during the winter it should be a winner.
Fantastic! I have the smaller pump in my Amazon basket but not bought it yet as I still don't have an air mat. However I do have an inflatable kayak which I HATE pumping up and wondered if that smaller pump would work. But I'm so glad you shared this review as I reckon that mark2 version will do a great job! I like the charger too as my phone died last trip while I was filming. .. I got a bit confused re the link and code thing? How do I purchase one? Couldn't see buy it options or price etc.. 🤔 Thanks for the review Richard! ... Ps, I'm thinking of making a chammock chair like Simons, the ones suspended between two trees. Not sure what material to make it from yet. Any ideas?
Guess my only question is do they suck?......sometimes there is a value to having a portable vacuume for air lock bags for compact packing or food wrapping......you mentioned the deflate mode but didnt say much more than that
Shame about the smaller ones adapter's, maybe they will take note and fix it, hey ho design flaws, maybe a MK II will fix its problem, unfortunately for us at a customers cost.
Tiny Pump X was destroyed after a decent amount of use. Rear button caved in the shell cracked. Button failed. Maybe worth the $20. Turned on by itself all the time. These things need a better button system anxious to see how these buttons work.
A pro for both these pumps are you’re not introducing moisture into the airmat. Moisture can degrade the insulation and cause mould to grow. This stopped that. For wild camping and back packing it has to be the tiny one. For car camps and canoe camps where weight isn’t an issue, neither is space, the big one.
It is a handy item to carry providing you are going to use all the functions. However, for me it would be an inefficient item to carry because I never use a pump but carry a power bank on longer hikes and a petzl head torch with nocturne lantern attachment. So this item would not fit my requirements.
You can get similar without the lantern, which is what I prefer since, like you, I carry an efficient head torch. I consider the deflating action to be really useful, as I can never get my sleeping pads fully deflated, which makes it hard to get them back into the bag!! What if it could also doubled as a camping lantern and power bank? You could charge your phone or any other battery camping gear, all of that by using sustentable solar energy! Just let us know where we can send you one, you won´t regret it. Best regards! EXORUX
I'm a sucker for continuity, Richard.
Great effort for the cause. 😄

For the work put into this.

Large one is the all rounder I think. Light for tent at night, inflated and top up for the phone 👌🏻

Very relaxed household, you have! 😀
Your pets are awesome !

Snap! It’s a good little pump. I managed 4 mats and a kayak. Impressed.
Ha ha. Yes. Mrs PR seemed insistent on this evening!
The air pump part of that button works the same way as the light. It will slow down the pump for more efficiency.
hi, Richard, is the big one powerful enough for inflating one or two persons PVC Kayak 100% full? Thanks for your answer in advance.
Hi. I very much doubt it.
Good review Richard

It says on the box to recharge the battery every three months if being stored.
triple the capacity, phone charger +, better control lighting. great comparison review. hope the kickstarter goal is reached.
Great review,
thanks Richard.
Peace and Blessing,
Roberta
Wow that is amazing!!!!
I really appreciate the review. Thanks, Richard. 👍👍🙂

Good job Richard nice video and thanks

Thanks. I always carry the adapters as they weigh about a gram!
I have the tiny pump the tiny pump x and the x2. Just ordered the max pump 2pro for the ability to charge. Thanks for the review.

I got the mini after watching this just ordered the max pro

Hi Micky. The link should become live soon. Try some cordura canvas for the chair. Should work ok. 👍
@@RichardOutdoors double thanks Richard! Sewing machine, here I come!
So i have to decide whether to bring the pump or the lemon to make pack weight
I got the mini for size. Pumps up brilliantly; light is now my go to in the tent. Great little inventions.
Man, didn't heard the sound of pumps to see how loud they are
We have the TP X, a very useful gadget. The larger version looks most impressive, should one need such a thing.
Guess my only question is do they suck?......sometimes there is a value to having a portable vacuume for air lock bags for compact packing or food wrapping......you mentioned the deflate mode but didnt say much more than that
Yes, having used it for some time now, the deflation mode is excellent.

How annoying. Mine’s going strong.
Will it operate whilst on charge?
I don’t know sorry.
Hi,
I have one of these but can only get it to deflate!!
Any ideas how to change the direction of air flow?..
Are you joking with me?? 🤣
Side nozzle is inflate. Top nozzle is deflate.
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻😊
My pleasure 😊
Instagrammed you last night! Woohoo!
I replied. 👍
Useful review Richard, how much is each pump?
I’ve left a link to the original.
The new one will hopefully be about the same price.

Too bad it doesn't inflate the kitesurf sails
Have you tried?
How faster does the max pump 2 compare to the smaller one?
About 1/3 again faster. The main advantage is the amount of inflations on a single charge!
My tiny pump x is great but doesn’t hold its charge for long. It’s great though I really rate it. As a tent lantern and pump
Hi, how long does it hold the charge for you?
@@pcman3158 it wasn’t lasting four days or so.
I returned it and the replacement holds it’s charge a lot better.
Link seams to go to a version without a light do you have another link
I’ll look. Give me a few moments.
Thanks
Thanks. Changed.
How can I buy that one?
Hi. Does the link work?

Not necessary. This will do a 2-week camp without need for recharging.
