Going back to my comment last week on the other pump....now this definitely beats the widget pump because it has that deflate mode....the price is a bit up there but hey that's just normal for us hikers these days....I'm a bit worried about the attachments but if it fits normal hiking pads that's fine...esp my Nemo alpine one....I'll have to invest in one of these.... definitely a good product can't wait to test it out.....onya Benny

This is a great all-rounder, tons of air volume for a small pump and loads of features. ~ Ben

@@SnowysOutdoors yes I think this beats the widget pump, but the widget pump is what I've been using for hiking and it's been great so far...they both have exactly the same amount of air per litre a.min, same battery size and battery amps, light is different and because it deflates and weighs lighter and it's water proof....do the fittings for Nemo hiking pads though that's my question ?

Will this inflate the exped mats?

You can us it to inflate an Exped mat, but the deflate valve is too big for any of the adapters so you won't be able to deflate with it. ~ Ben

Nice review, but is it a bit late? The newer model - FLEXTAIL Max Pump 3 has started shipping out this week. Mine will be here next week.

These still form part of the FLEXTAIL range, and they are a little cheaper that the Max Pump 3. ~ Ben

What's the advantage of the 3? I looked at it but its got smaller battery capacity, no powerbank function and not water-resistant. Lighter and a bit higher powered though, so guess it is horses for courses!

@@OscarTahr Yes the 2 version is better in some ways and has a power bank feature. The 3 version has more speed and power from the lighter pump because the battery voltage is 3X higher with 3 smaller capacity cells wired in series instead of a single large cell. (I'm sure the three small cells wired in series would be a poor choice for a Reserve Battery Bank configuration so that feature was removed.) I pre-ordered mine (v3) sight unseen almost two months ago, so in a day or two mine will be arriving and then maybe I will know if it is any good or not. Who knows? 🙂

@@ajseusa1488 Cheers, that makes sense. I don't intend to pack the 2 version so not worried about the weight, its just for boat/4WD/helicopter trips. Can see from the stats the lower weight and increased power of the 3, looks pretty cool as well.
      I'm a sucker for the multi-use features

P.S. I was actually online getting ready to buy the Max Pump 2, but then the Max Pump 3 announcement popped up as a discounted pre-order, so I fell for the "newer must be better" ad and I ordered it. 😮

Comparing this to the widget it's basically the same but has the extra features, deflate and a higher lumen light....but flextail has so many pumps now is this the king or what?

Check out the Zero pump, video has just been published. Doesn't have the same power, but it't tiny. ~ Ben

@@SnowysOutdoors I wouldn't want the flextail zero pump hasn't got features like the flextail max pump or exped widget pump have, I've just done a prod and cons for all 3 and looks like the max pump and widget pump are pretty much bang on close and the same ! Exped widget doesn't deflate where the max pump does with all.the same.features as the widget pump !

Looks great, but as someone who’s recently invested in a Zempire Monstamat, it’s such a shame that this doesn’t support that style of valves!
Thanks for another good product overview regardless.

Yeah, it would be good if it was compatible with the big valves, maybe they will release an adaptor, the larger reversible valves are becoming common nowadays. ~ Ben
