In Colorado, the young master Tristan stalks fish in a two-foot wide rivulet that is his favorite sort of venue and comes up with another impossible jackpot. He is indeed becoming the "trout whisperer." This is about as good as it gets for this kind of fishing.
What you called a weird looking sluice box is actually a Parshall Flume used for measuring streamflow in cfs (cubic feet /second). Have never seen anyone fish in one. Never too old to see something new. You truly are the fish whisper! Lots of fun watching your enthusiasm.
This is by far my favorite Tenkara fishing and also is where Tenkara gear really shines:. Tight Creek and channels... I have some 2 feet deep/wide mangrove channels here you'd be amazed with the size of the baby tarpons hid into it. Congrats 🙏
Just ordered the same rod in the last minutes of the Kickstarter campaign. It will be my first ever tenkara rod and I think it will be tons of fun. Just perfect for the little creek I fish at here in southern Germany. Thank you for your videos and introducing me to this wonderful style of fishing. Much love and tight lines❤️
Thank you very much for all your posts on all your programs. I follow each one and also tie with all the colors of your yarn. Love the U V yarn ... I did the kickstarter on the FOX FIRE zx280 and it is on its way. Keep up all your great videos.
You were right when you said "stressful," but it's eustress (positive) which is the beneficial form, versus distress. Of course with fishing, one form can turn into the other in a flash. You're ramping up my own stress a bit with this video as I await the eventual shipping of my FoxFIRE! Next spring should bring some similar outings for me on little northern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula streams.
Awesome video and thanks for sharing your good times. And techniques lol! My second time out was on an overnight camp on a similar stream 2 days ago. I had a lot of fun catching brookies!! So thank you for the entertaining videos and teaching me how to enjoy being new to tenkara. 🤙🏻
A small beetle or ant would work well for the time of the year or a letort hopper. Lots of such places just get overlooked. I use my old Orvis 7'9" 2 wt ( first two-weight rod 1982) for such little streams.
After fishing a major trout stream main body, I discovered a very small, grown over stream( tributary). I have a 6.5 ,3/4 w. I had to use the tip half to fish this water. However it was full of 5-7 inch cut throat. What a ball.
I love it! You can tell you're having so much fun. It's so cool catching trout where you wouldn't normally expect them. Most don't realize how much skill it takes to catch fish in a stream like that. You really have get creative with how you cast and land fish in such tight quarters. Also, did I spy some new footwear? If I'm correct, I believe I have the same Korkers. How do you like yours?
Hey Tristan, what’s your current line setup these days? ~10’ 3.0 lvl line + 3-4’ of tippet? My lvl line has been getting real tough to see as I fish into the evenings now. Considering adding some sighter tippet above my actual tippet.
Your channel has really inspired me to want to get into tenkara but I'm on a serious budget are there any budget friendly rods 50$ or less that are worth using
Species specific taking precedence over size For me, a meat eater, it's a rather novel idea I appreciate the idea that you and others promote releasing the fish Good conservation Do you ever keep any for the skillet? I do think it's appropriate to keep them if they are hatchery loosed From what I hear a good number of those don't survive Natives should stay in their watery home

Lol I had a great time, that's for sure!
It’s a Parshall flume used to measure flows. Fished inside one on Boiling Springs in PA.
Interesting! Thanks.

Thanks for the info, and I'm glad you liked it!
the “head hang of shame” at 2:45 is all of us. raw emotion.
I know it well, unfortunately.

Congrats 🙏
Catching baby tarpons sounds like a lot of fun!
Interesting fishing a tiny creek. I do this a lot since I got a Tenkara rod. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon. 👍
Sure is!
Never gets old, love seeing some quality tenkara fishing in the morning
Thanks Marc!
Wonderful. That little corner where you saw the fish hiding and you got him. You are definitely a Tenkara master. Thanks
I'm amazed he didn't see me there. Or maybe he did but was just hungry!
What a neat little stream! And, yes, those fish were of impressive size for that small a water. Another great adventure - thank you for sharing!
Thanks Michael!

I think the rod will work well for you!

This video is so awesome! You’ve got us fired up for our Foxfire’s, they should be shipping very soon! 👍🏻🇺🇸
It's a great little rod!
your creeks keep getting smaller but I still enjoy and look forward to your videos on Saturday.
Nah, they've always been small! Thanks for watching.
I love blue lining. Thanks for the great video.
Such a pretty little stream. The fish are a bonus.
Agreed!

You ARE the fish whisperer!
Always nice to be surprised when fishing small water
Agreed! Thanks for watching.

I don't really fish terrestrials. Almost all of my fishing is done with kebari.
Great video man. You're making me want to get a Tenkara setup and go find little creeks.
Little creeks like this are a blast!

Sounds like my kind of stream!
Tiny gem!
Yep, great little creek!
Spot nya kecil tapi ikan 🐟 nya melimpah 👍
That wouldn't happen to be overland res would it?
New , got to know what hooks you are using ,your release how you doing that looks easy ???
They're all barbless. Releasing is easy.
those are the size of creeks i fish regularly, i dont catch alot out of any one creek but at the end of the day i have my limit
Micro creek? lol Maybe a rille, runnel or rivulet?
Suprise! Looks like an old mining town..
you are WAY smarter than me young Mr. Tristan (thats my youngest grandsons name too) go south for October avoid the SNOW I wound up in here....

They're new boots, but they're Redington Benchmarks. They're good enough for the price ($90ish, I think), but they aren't especially sticky on rocks.
@@TenkaraAddict Got ya. From the top, they looked like the Korker Terror Ridge that I have. I love mine. Hopefully the Redingtons work out for you!
Wow! Good Challenge!
Sure was!

I list the line I use in the description of each video. Here it was a 7 ft #3.5 level line with maybe 2 feet of tippet.
Another great video sir. All in all is the Foxfire worth investing in?
Depends on the type of waters you fish. I've gotten a lot of use out of it. If you fish open rivers, no, it's not worth investing in.
@@TenkaraAddict thanks for the reply. Most of the water i fish is small stream, overgrown, technical.... The best kind in my opinion.😀
Your channel has really inspired me to want to get into tenkara but I'm on a serious budget are there any budget friendly rods 50$ or less that are worth using
Nope
It looks like the Tripple Zoom FoxFire rod is growing on you.
It's a great little rod, especially in the smallest two lengths.
Bluelining...never know!!
👍🏻

This looks like fun..or a massive headache..😖
Ha! Basically, fishing then…
You're not wrong!
Beauty
Surprise creek
Looks like the Grand Mesa
Bingo!
@@TenkaraAddict epic! I have fished the same creek. I live in Delta so the Mesa is a common place for me to fish. So beautiful
