I can agree there! It felt the exact same because we're obviously not used to pushing a manual, tough button anymore! All buttons now are simple, light and electric!
The Tyne and Wear Metro is a light rail transport system like a tram that has its own separated track system like the London underground. But the metro runs a service to Sunderland where the Tyne and wear metro system does not run to so because of this, the light rail Metrocars actually have to leave the system and run 11 miles down to Sunderland, and run on mainline infrastructure owned by network rail and shared by express trains and freight trains. In order for any train to run on the main UK rail network that train must be assigned a TOPS number, for instance, a class 66 or class 158. So to run on the 11-mile-long shared track, the metro trains must also have a TOPs number which is class 994, formerly 599. The full TOPs number of Metrocar 4001 is 994001 but the 99 is taken off the train leaving 4001 displayed; hence Metrocar 4001 or a class 994001.
I myself like Tyne and Wear PTE livery at the end but I with they could've continued the livery on the front as well but due to today's standards, in order for this Metrocar to run to Sunderland and South Hylton, it has to have the front yellow warning panel which, in my opinion, spoils it in so many ways along with the blue livery having to have a full yellow door with the triangle inside of a blue door with triangle, like they used to. They can't do this as it wouldn't meet the disability regulations and requirements which would result in it not being permitted to run. I can agree with you on how the green livery wasn't added but this is probably/just because of lack of space.
I love how they combined all of the different colour and pattern schemes from 1980 to now
I know!
I love riding on it every time I get the chance!
0:49 woah thats cool
It really is!
I was really happy to capture that part!
Great video. What the hell is wrong with people vandalising property?
I have no idea but it's really annoying when it happens...
they did it again on the 27th! the state of 4001 is horrible, i hope its fixed before it goes to stephenson railway museum!
I loved the journey!
Brilliant, it was great to meet you!
Thanks! You to
Hiya great videos
Thank you!
Your lucky to even drive it!
I suppose you are!
Where did the damage take place? Such a discrase
Indeed it is. It took place in the reversing siding at Monkseaton.
Fun story: I’ve nearly broken my thumb on the door buttons on this Metrocar. Also I am pleased that 4001 got some of its original livery back
I can agree there!

@@PublicTransport4U aye.
I hate it when people vandalise things
I know, I thought it was terrible how they vandalised it yesterday!

Indeed...!
That’s gt transport at the red part of the train
Where in the video?
At 2.34 in the video wearing the red huddie
@@actransport5226 oh yes I know
@@actransport5226 Yep thats me :)
Can you do a video on Metrocar 4040 next time you see it? It's almost as smooth as 4001. 4083 and 4002 are to rattly for my liking
If I see it, then I may do a video on it.
Who would even do that?? Who in their right mind would vandalize 4001???
Just local misfits who have nothing better to do.
Why are the sets numbered in the 4000's, there's not that many of them....

The 1990 livery bit is what 4001 used to look like before it got turned black
yeah
@@HMPeterHearty7818 thats right, I believe then it wasn't actually called the Tyne and Wear Metro...
Great video
Thank you very much!
I replied to your comment on my previous upload of you want to take a look! 👍
Public Transport 4U I clicked on it when it said I had a notification but nothing was there.
What did you say in reply to the comment on the previous video? As nothing is there for me now
@@Rb_2103 I can't remember now but I believe I might've said that I saw you on the metro!
@@PublicTransport4U Ah yeah, that was when we met on 4001
disgrace how it was only 5 minutes for them idiots to do that. If they go over the door buttons it must be taken out of service
There*
I suppose they are!
