I’ve had my chukka boots for about 10-12 yrs. A fantastic shoe. Just got a pair of 1907s, no problem breaking in, in fact they were very comfy straight of the bat. You get what you pay for and are diligent enough to look at reviews. I’ll stick with red wing for the foreseeable future and probably into the next decade.
Yes, they definitely need to be re-soled. You can do Cristy soles, or vibram gumlites if you want a heel, or just do cream Cristy’s again. It’s well worth having them done.
These are the BEST everyday do anything shoe. I have trouble calling them boots just because they are so versatile. My 3141's were bought in 2014, they've marched half way around the world and still kick ass. All Red Wing chukka models fit so nice out of the box but the Briars just have a beautiful burgundy color that looks really really nice after years of use. Get yourself a pair of 3141's and a can of Pecard's leather Dressing for waterproofing. (mink oil makes them too dark)
@@CameronO do they run larger in size or not.? I wear 13 D Clark's sandal so what you suggest. There is no outlet of redwing in my country so have to blind buy it
Have the RW weekender chelsea, the classic work chelsea, and just picked up this 3141 today. Very nice boots. If you are like me, and love boots, I would say that these chukkas are among the most amazing boots out there for a quality casual chukka. Ive got 20 plus pairs of various chukkas and chelseas, and I can already tell that they will be one of my top 3
Are these RW Heritage 3141 chukka are wide enough or not.? And should i go true to size or full size down.? I wear 13 E Clark’s sandals and there is no Redwing store in my country so have to buy it online
I've been wearing 875s for about 8 years and altho they've held up *phenomenally* well, the crepe sole ends up looking like yours after max 6 months or so. The chukka and 875 use different type of crepe, so this looks really good to me, coming from the moc toe. I'm a bit sick of multiple resoles at this point. I wouldn't resole yet if these were mine tbh :)
I have these in the Oro-Iginal 3140 and they are the most comfortable pair of boots that are indeed very versatile. I had previously owned the Moc Toe and the Iron Rangers, but the comfort that you get from these are unmatched. By the way, your's look so dark that on some frames they look almost black.
Just snagged a pair for $249CAD. So excited! Edit: Just got ‘em. SO comfy right out of the box, the cushioning is unreal. I went with a 7D, same as my weekenders, and they feel a bit tight in the toe box, but my weekenders were the same during the break in and came with a few blisters, I think these will stretch a bit and will wear in much easier!
@@leonardorangel1742 Dude, I'm a sneaker size 8.5C and the fit initially was comfy, but snug, but as they were worn and my foot swelled up from just walking they became unbearable. I oiled them and probably gave them about 12 hours of wear but in the end I had to get rid of them. It's a very narrow last. They maaaaybe would've stretched out eventually, but the pain wasn't worth it. I tried on 8s and they were snug too, but would probably wear in perfectly. 8.5s were comfy right out of the box for me, but again would probably feel a tad large upon breaking in, especially with a thin sock. I'd recommend sneaker size for a foot of average width and half a size down from for a narrower foot if you want a snug fit, if not sneaker size all around is probably a good bet.
Hi Cameron, mink oil will give you a “mat” look to your boot. To get a high shine you need to polish them. There are lots of videos on UA-cam that will show you how to get a high gloss shine. Great review on this boot. Chukka boots are comfortable, and it looks like Red Wing makes a pretty strong one if they are lasting more than eight years.
I use saphir renovateur on my 3141 chukkas and it gives them a slight shine with brushing. Absolutely great boots, goes with everything for every occasion. The boot equivalent to your Explorer
Thanks Mads, I have or had Saphir somewhere when i used to wear proper shoes to work. I'll give it a go again. Though will chat ti RW when i get them re-soled. thanks for the comments ;)

Would like a update if you still wear these boots since this video is 2 years old. I seen someone get these resole with the vibram mini lug like whats on the iron ranger and many other boots. They looked super awesome. But i guess it depends on what u want these for.
I re-soled mine with Vibram gumlites. My 595’s got brown gumlites. Just picked up a pair of ten year old 3139’s resoled with black cristy’s. I prefer a dark sole…just personal preference.
Hi,not sure how long you had this on UA-cam but,,,my chukkas had a crape sole like the moc toe boots on after 11 years of wear. One of the reasons for this was it was very slippy on a tiled floor. I now have a pair of boot that should last another 11 years.
Hey Gary, yeah since i posted this i've since resoled them with a Vibram Christy cut sole. Bit controversial but does the job for now. Boot is still going strong
Good review, solid boots. I have the oro original version of these. Great for summer. Also, you could check when the boots were made on the tag on the bottom right. Also also, if you want to remove the stains from the soles you can rub them with saddle soap, usually gets the dirt out. Id probably get them resoled. If you want comfort but want to change up the look, as for the neoprene cushion sole.
