Very impressive kit! Not only in terms of size, but the level of detail in it despite a relatively low parts count. The engine alone and all the associated wiring etc. is really outstanding. And those decals are stunning!
I used to be into Drag Racing. When ever I went to a big event like the NHRA summer nationals, I would get a pit pass. This kit is extremely accurate. There have been a number of funny car kits reissued recently that are completely inaccurate. Like the people who created the kit never actually had seen one of these cars with the body up. You mentioned the chrome. There is almost nothing on these cars that is chrome plated. There is lots of polished aluminum but it's not a reflective polish. It's polished enough so that it's easy to clean. Most of the chrome I remember was the front axle and steering linkage. The wheelie bars were usually chrome plated too.
Love this scale. Had no idea Atlantis was releasing this kit. I always address the ride height but modifying the tabs or gussets on the rear end to move the rear end up in the frame thus allowing for a lower stance when assembled. This is no doubt a great kit begging for modification and wiring.
Chris, what I like about your channel is; I got back into modeling in the late '90's and till this day I do not own an airbrush. Spray and hand paint the whole car/truck. And my son, grandson and I love the stories with each build. Cheer's
I like it. Thanks for the informative video. I am so grateful to Atlants for bringing back these awesome kits. I only wish you would have included just one shot of the finished model with the body closed.
I think Mickey Thompson, among other big names back then, all pretty much ran Chrysler hemi's and more than likely a Keith Black engine. That's probably neither here nor there but just figured I'd throw it in anyways.
Great video Chris, keep em coming, I'll keep watching. Cause of you I just bought it. If you go to Atlanis, they tell you that a part is wrong and they are correcting it.
100,000 subs Congratulations very well deserved, well you actually deserve a lot more but still an incredible achievement nonetheless and a very nice build to top it off
I just received a call from my hobby dealer. The Tin work on this kit is wrong. Atlantis put Vega interior parts by mistake, that’s why you had fitment issues. They are sending the correct parts to buyers thru their dealers at no charge. Reach out to where you bought your kits from and they will get you your correct parts.
This is covered in the description here, with a link, and on the Facebook page with this video. They were aware of it after the video went up so I could not edit it in.
I believe this is a 76, 77 Pontiac Can Am body. These were wild cars. Great kit.

I've built several revell 1/16th scale hemis and I always routed the ignition wires under the top blower pulley. 😁
I built this kit back in the day...was my first large scale kit.

Very nice! I’m not usually a race car fan but I love super detailed large scale kits so this is on my wish list.
That is a sweet looking top fuel funny car. The only thing is. The decals say U.S Marines. See, I'm retired Army. So, it should say U.S Army. 😅😅😅
I've been waiting for this kit. Thanks for the review.
Pretty awesome project Chris! 👍
I do the plug wires the other way around. First in the distributor and than in the spark plug holes. Works mutch better for my

Chris...whats that behr blue called? Man i dont think theres a better color right outta a can than that for this kit!
Looks like a great kit to build but I think it's a little bit big for the limited amount of space for display it
