- The swan goose is the wild variant of the domestic Chinese goose. When standing side by side, there are obvious anatomical differences between the wild and domestic types. This video discusses some of those differences. The swan goose is native to eastern parts of Asia, however, they've been introduced to other parts of the world. These large birds have long necks which can make them easy to confuse for a swan, hence their common name; though swan geese are geese and not swans. Swan geese eat a lot of grass and those may be used to "mow" lawns!
Scientific Name: Anser cygnoides
Range: native to eastern Asia
Size: 7 pounds (3kg) in weight; wingspan averages 5 feet (1.5m) in length - males are only slightly larger than females if at all
Diet: grasses, water plants, invertebrates
Lifespan: up to 20 years

I have a Chinese goose and his name is Chucky
Loved your content. I wanna see sloth bear nextime. I love all animals.
Original(wild) swan geese are the rare ones. Genetically modified(domestic) swan geese populate the world more than do their ancestors.
I'll go for a true Anser Cygnoides thank you, I'd like to repopulate rare ducks and geese. :)
No need to do that with swans as there are only 7 swan breeds and none of them are under threat but some of them are rare, like the Trumpeter and Black Necked swans. They are normally only found in North and South America.
I want a Chinese goose.
I want an original Anser Cygnoides.
That fluffy baby!! The wild swan geese are much prettier. I would have liked to hear their voices! 🙂
We'll try and get bird calls when we can for future episodes, that's a really good idea! It's not always available, but we can definitely try =)
We have swam goose and they sound like someone is having a terrible voice crack

@@EMPEROR_TIGER_13 Great idea. Let's do it!
did the first video get deleted? i remember you making this ages ago, in fact it was how i discovered this channel
No, it's still available just unlisted. The older video didn't fit into our current style and we wanted to update it for accuracy =) Thanks for sticking with us for so long
@@AnimalFactFiles oh, thank you for the update!
So is this what I was seeing at the Nature Park in Rexburg?
That is definitely a possibility!! They're cool birds!
The greylag goose is another species of goose that looks similar and it also has been domesticated
The only difference is about the knob
And the color of the neck (graylags have one color, swan goose have two)
Swan geese can fly? My swan geese can't fly
The domestic variant often does not fly
Mine did. They loved attacking my kids. They'd see the kids in the yard playing and get angry. Then they would back up to one side of their fenced in area to get a run and fly over the house in search of children to kamakazi. Flogging pecking and kicking.
Your video clips are confusing you're showing us african and chinese geese which are a domestic variant of swan geese and look quite different from their wild cousins
to be honest, I like them best served with potato dumplings and savoy, and with mugwort sauce :)
No
Because one of my friends on discord is called potato
Bruh are you weird or something.
Not even funny or edgy
Lol they do not fly either bro get your facts straight!
