- Shoebills are some amazing birds. Not only can they stand as tall as the average eight year old human, they make clacking sounds with their beaks, eat fish whole, and poop on themselves! These birds look like a cross between a pelican and a stork and are even sometimes referred to as shoebill storks. Also, they have a serious case of sibling rivalry!
Scientific Name: Balaeniceps rex
Range: east central Africa
Size: up to 5 feet (1.5m) tall
Diet: fish like lungfish, rodents, snakes, turtles, birds, and young crocodiles
Lifespan: 30+ years

Imagine a shoebill seeing two brothers playing around then looking at the older one like: "you were weak"
I love the way they shake their heads, and their big awkward clompy beaks.
A lone bird who survived mass extenction

The shoebill's closest living relative is the hamerkop, both birds along with the kagu of New Caledonia and sunbittern of South America are the most basal extant members of the order Pelecaniformes, which also includes pelicans, cormorants, shags, darters, frigatebirds, boobies, gannets, and tropicbirds, surprisingly Pelecaniformes is most closely related to Ciconiiformes (Storks, Herons, Egrets, Bitterns, Ibises, and Spoonbills), together both orders are placed within a clade known as Ciconiopelecanae, additionally the sister group to Ciconiopelecanae is Procellariimorphae, which includes the albatrosses, petrels, shearwaters, fulmars, prions, storm petrels, grebes, loons, flamingos, and penguins, Gruicharadriae (Stem Waterbirds), which includes both the gruiform waterbirds (order Gruiformes) and shorebirds (order Charadriiformes) is considered basal to both Procellariimorphae and Ciconiopelecanae, these three bird lineages are classified within the superorder Aequornithes (True Waterbirds).

In case some of you viewers are wondering where that "Dinosaurs" joke it's from, it's from an awesome movie called "Who Killed Captain Alex". 100000000/10 would definitely recommend.
Wow! They look like a Photoshop experiment gone wrong.
In flight, they look like a pterodactyl.
