- In this video we go together on a project I've had in my mind for a lot of time: The Fear & Hunger iceberg explained! It was made by me as currently I wasn't able to find an iceberg exclusively of the first game, and it may be a little bit small! Which means... there is still material to do more icebergs!

On "Le'garde's soul is uonbtainable", I actually asked Miro on twitter about this, "what Soul Type is Le'garde?", expecting him to either just clarify it or avoid answering it like he does with a lot of lore questions. Instead, what he said was, and I quote,
"Did you try taking Le'garde's soul? Yeah, that's the answer."
Judging by hm liking the tweet under him in that post that theorized this, yeah. It seems Le'garde has no soul.
You can extract the Soul of even the Gods, even The Girl's which is comparable to an Older God in power when she transforms. It is very deliberate. I posted these findings on the Reddit too and it blew up. I can't link the post here of course (previous comment got blocked) but if you google "fear and hunger So... uh... Le'garde has no soul" and you'll find it. It's insane.
Oh it's you! Allow me to copy paste the thing I answered to another person who asked about this same thing!
I did read that! He never confirms or denies it! He just said that if you do it in the game you have your answer, and in the game the soul stone just says "Doesn't react", never says something along the lines of "Doesn't have a soul"! Miro never wants to give a clear answer intentionally!
(PS: I'm aware he often avoids giving concrete answers to these sort of questions because he wants people to theorize and create headcanons, because he does not want to answer everything, but this is very different. He could have just said his usual "the answer should be in the game, i dont want to confirm headcanons and theories" but he chose to answer THAT. I just think it's a very interesting lore bit, really. I wonder what it implies at large.)

Imo he has no soul, that's why it just doesn't react. A magnet will react to a huge ball of iron but won't be able to take it with it, but it won't react to no-iron iykwim
honestly I love how you put "Boss souls give buffs" after your encounter with CDawgVA who went through most of the entire game without any boss souls lol

I think its hilarious that fear and hunger has some of the darkest lore of any videogame ever and the community is extremely wholesome and friendly for the most part

I find that is an interesting thing that happens with really dark and macabre games! There's this game called "the price of flesh" that's about you getting sold to one of these awful serial killer-esque people, with you trying to get away or just survive, and the community for this game and the other games by this person is super wholesome.

I'll think about it! Making this required more than 10 hours, so if I wanted to go for a 1 hour episode it'd probably require 2 weeks to be realised!

I think the most intriguing thing about fear & hunger and why I love it so much is the cosmic horror aspect of it. The unknown nature of everything is done so well and the fact that the dev doesnt answer anything concretely adds to the atmosphere.
Of course we want more! Fear and Hunger is a knowledge based game, so it is perfect for the iceberg format! Thank you for putting this together for us. Can't wait for part two or a similar video! The more obscure the facts and theories you put in it, the better! :)

One purpose I found for the Human Hydra is using Pinecone Pig and continuously running from the battle. Takes a long time, but you can gather so much stuff that way.
Yeah the problem is you can achieve the same result with cave dwellers for example, and a lot of other enemies that don't talk! So the process is even faster!

Liked and subscribed for part 2. One thing I would like to see is you showing more text that the characters say, as I for one have never played the game myself so you showing more text would provide more context which I feel is very important. Reading that text aloud would be even better, as right now I'm pausing at every piece of info you're showing which doesn't really make for that good of an experience. Also, a lot of people including myself love falling asleep to these types of videos, which unfortunately cannot be done with yours as the pacing is just sooo fast... I feel like if start thinking about something you said you already move through 2 other topics on the iceberg... I can see that you're an Undertale/Deltarune enjoyer as well, so you may be familiar with JaruJaruJ, his style of making videos and talking speed would be perfect for something like this imho

Penance armor is literally the Beserker armor from Beserk
Tbh i like how a lot of Low tier enemies have the most brutal death animations, almost like the game punishes you for fumbling so hard by seeing your character "forced upon", lose all their limbs and wake up in a pit of corpses(which isn't really a death but would you continue like that?) Or fed to the pigs
Also the low tier enemies are those you'll see sooner usually! So I think the dev made this to leave an impact in the player immediately!

I think that the penance armor is a reference to speed ball the hero after his (incident) and became penance. In the comic his armor has spike that stab into his skin so i think on its a reference maybe

I have heard of this game since last year and I haven't played it... but I have watched a lot of videos about this game already. I loved Berserk and for a game to capture and even enhance the world of berserk even if it is just in a RPG maker game style is actually pretty epic. :)

Honestly, I haven't played Fear & Hunger. However, during the past couple of days the game keeps appearing on my UA-cam recommended and I've seen it pop up recommended on Steam a few times as well. The moment you mentioned the creator's name, I had to look it up and like I thought, he's Finnish! It's always a pleasant surprise to see that a fellow Finn is behind a project that intrigues me. Most interesting to me, however, was that I found a thesis he had made called "Thematics of horror in video games". I haven't read it fully myself, but it looks very interesting and I definitely want to read more about the parts with Fear & Hunger, considering the thesis was made before the game came out. Unfortunately, it's in Finnish but I'm sure it'll be readable enough through Google Translator lol

I think it might be because Nilvan took his soul to make the Girl. Also explains why he was trying to emulate other souls because he was directionless without one
I initially searched for a Fear & Hunger iceberg on youtube a few weeks back when I got into this game, I did come across one actually, but it was in Russian and didn't have subtitles, sadly I only know English so it was a shame to not be able to watch the video. Seeing this now is super cool, iceberg videos are always so fun to watch and finally getting to see one for this game is amazing, I'd love to see more added onto it in the future

As a finn, thank you for genuinely going so deep into a game from my country. Our country tends to make a lot of games with the focus on mentality, a lot of finns struggle with mental health and some make a game when they are feeling at their worst and stuff like this is born. It was the same with cruelty squad and ultrakill.
The games always challenging and unforgiving... uncomfortable even. Also when I saw when Connor played and I saw the Miasma. All I could think was SoulCalibur

@@frapollo94 Well I wouldnt really call mental health issues culture xD, but yeah. Lots of finns struggle with mental health and tend to turn to the bottle, which is a little bit saddening. There is a saying as to why we are one of the happiest countries on earth and that is "Because all the sad ones end themselves" ofcourse changed to be a bit more comment friendly. So because i never played any SC games but did play DMC i always thought Miasma's appearance was a reference to DMC.

I actually didn't know about the merchant. I wonder if you can throw those 'healing potions' at the enemy. If so 8 silver for a poison potion is not bad.
