Outstanding tutorial in usage of a tool. A low cost tool used properly it can be a great asset to a mechanic.
Great post sir. It's nice to see a tool in action and a job in action
Thank you Bryan, the directions for this kit label the adapters for vehicles other than my Chevy Blazer, I was getting frustrated on how to use it until I saw your video. Thank you.
I’ve been debating getting this for a while now and I need it for my silverado to find a leak so I think I’m finally going to pull the trigger on it today, nice video!
Good review and demo. used mine to find a leak in a cummins isx15 cm871. The number 22 fit the coolant tank. Took 1,001,789 pumps to get the pressure up. Thats because I thought the coolant was at almost full level but it wasn't. I used your video as instruction manual. Thanks again
Worked on my Rigmaster APU on my semi truck today and this came in very handy. Truth is I shouldn't of been working on it with out this.
Replaced radiator and coolant line.
Added coolant but did not bleed system properly.
The rigmaster is mounted on the frame of the semi truck.
The HVAC box is mounted INSIDE and ABOVE the APU.
Thus I was supposed to use this coolant pressure tester to add pressure to the coolant system, then bleed the hvac box to purge air out and also bleed the block to purge air out of that also while under pressure.
The system holds 3 liters of coolant. BUT when the hoses are dry and the hvac box is empty also it is an additional 4 liters!
I installed the radiator aand kept added coolant it couldn't find where it was going. LOL
Glad I found this.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Bryan going to pick up one up at Harbor Freight. I wasnt sure if it was good but I'm convinced it works just fine. GOOD VIDEO.
The light with the magnet, cool , I must get one
Nice Radiator kit my oldest son has had it for about five years and no problems yet, and I love the five drawer Roll Cart you got there got one of my son's one for his Garage but we haven't put it together yet to Cold out I going to get the 7 drawer cabinet and mount it on the side of it.great video.
great video thumbs up would like to see more videos like this one
I'm a tech in a Chevrolet dealer, had that tester kit for a few years, only used it a handful of times but it's helped me diag plenty of cars
Thanks for the demo
Another great job sir!
Thanks for your review.
Good review... just spotted a drip on my f150 so will pick this up.
Very nice great advice. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Thanks John
excellent video
Good video man
Man I love these tool reviews you do. I've got many of the same HF tools you do (including this one) and am very pleased with their performance.
I thought you were in California, I figured they chased all the diesel trucks outta there a long time ago.
jhitt79 no there is allot of them out here actually
Epic Garage that truck would be a rust bucket here in Michigan.
In California; my 96 dodge ram does not have to be smogged. they started smogging them a few year models after that.
Good video.
Thats awesome. I'm not a big fan of HF but like you said they have gems. And sometimes they are the only ones that have it today. I was just there today picking up some panel clip pliers. I know one will work out but I'm not feeling good about the other one. I'll find out tomorrow.
I too bought this kit and it's worth the money.
good vid
Nice video. You can buy larger kits on Amazon and Ebay for about the same price.
Hey Bryan, I just saw another video about using this kit. What he did instead of pinching off the overflow hose was to use a smaller adapter (# 10 or # 11) instead of the big # 9. The smaller adapter fits down INSIDE the filler neck which bypasses the overflow hose. That method might come in handy if you can't get access to the overflow hose very easily.
Yeah that make sense, thank you I'll have to remember that!
I went to my local HF yesterday and bought this same kit upon reading all of the positive reviews. My 2005 ext. cab long bed Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 has a coolant leak I have to trace.
Hey Kayla good to see a comment from you!
@@Bryan916 Good to speak with you Sir..I hope you and your family are all well and will have a prosperous New Year! 🙂
SWEEEET VID 🚹, THANK YOU
yep, few good buys to be had at HF . I don't have that tester, I got a no brand kit which has a few more twist lock cap adaptors in it, like you was intended be get me by kit and upgrade later date but it works perfectly good and done me good few years and won't upgrade unless breaks .
I got a no brand bush removal/install threaded bar and sleeves kit for 100bucks and that been real useful and big time saver, branded kit would of been 2 to 3 times cost for not any better .
Cheaper stuff don't always work out so got buy bit wise on cheap/expensive ...
The "instructions" that come with the kit are just four pages. Basically, they tell you to be careful and then attach the proper adapter. Then, refer to the vehicles service manual for specific instructions. Oh yeah, great. Everyone has the service manual for their vehicle, right? Bryan, if it wasn't for you I would never have figured out how to combine those two pieces to fit over that radiator filler. Thanks a bunch.
Thank you for the info you sent me as well!
Gus job Bryan
Yoo you sold me with universal adapter. I’ve worked with many radiators with all different types of caps so the variety is nice but that universal is ganna be even nicer
Have you tried it on a non-leaking car? Mine cannot hold pressure. Some of the reviews and youtube videos mentioned that is drawback of the product. After watching your video, I was wondering if I got a defective one. What is the item # on yours?
Question Sir
I have a pusher motor home. That has a leak
The liquid fill tank pressure tank is a remote tank
Accessible from behind the motor home
To get at/ see the cummims
The bed is raised...
My question
The hose from the pump to the cap adaptor. Is is replaceable. So I can put a longer hose on it so I can get it inside so I can see the pressure and pump up until I find what's leaking...
thank you for your time Sir
Is it necessary to pinch that overflow tank hose. And is normal for that assembly with the quick connector to holds pressure even it’s not connected to anything?
Yes, because he is sealing the OUTER rim of the radiator neck using the universal adapter, so his pressurized area is normally open towards the overflow tank. He solved that problem by pinching the overflow tank hose. If the correct specialized adapter for this radiator type existed in this kit and if it were used, it would be sealing the INNER rim, which means pressure would go only to the radiator and the rest of the cooling system, excluding the overflow tank. In that case it wouldn't be necessary to pinch the hose.
Bronx Gr thank you!
So what to those other adapters fit? And isn't it odd that it doesn't have one that fits that radiator isn't the a really common size? I'm truly asking , I have a 06 Scion Xb it has a smaller cap but it doesn't screw on it go's just like yours, when you say screw on do you mean threaded say like a bottle cap?
This is not a common radiator size this is a Dodge diesel with a rather large radiator. There's an adapter for your 06 Scion xB. No need to use the universal adapter like I use.
@@Bryan916 Ok I understand now thanks for getting back to me
Also will, this test beyond the thermostat as this would normally be shut when cold?
Works the same as any other pressure tester
Would this kit be good for leak down test on Yamaha yz125 . Would the adapter fit a 38mm
no
That torch is amazing what brand is it?

Bryan916 thanks
Do the Harbor Freight kit come with an adaptor for testing the cap?
No
Do we have to block of the overflow tube? Because when I use it, it just blows air I to the reservoir and gurgles the water.
Yeah don't let air escape out the overflow!
@@Bryan916 excuse my message. Haha. I was in a rush. So, you do block the tube? Or do you just let it sit in the overflow reservoir?
@@vincentxiong16 sorry I meant to say do not let air Escape into the reservoir!
@@Bryan916 cool, thanks man. I got my coolant problem fixed.. for now at least ,😅
Hmmm, either this one or the other one they sell made by Maddox.
what if the coolant is totally leaked out of system can i still use this or i have to put some water in there
Add more water!!!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!
Where can I find that awesome flashlight?
x2
harbor freight. their brand is braun. it's magnetic and the light adjusts to different angles. rechargeable with USB.
@@mikerodick4278 Thank you very much!

I wish I would get the tester out the way so I can see the fuckin connection
Great kit snap on and the tool trucks are living off their name they are upper over priced harbor freight in 2023 has more then enough tools u can use as pro and get the same result but not waste ur money obviously don’t get the cheapest stuff they have but like even some of their cheap sockets “pro” wrench line etc are well worth it a lot of my specialty tools are from them and their maddox line made 135k last year and only spent maybe 4k in tools from them Lowe’s and Amazon pawn shop etc. tool trucks are a major major rip off any guy who says his tool box that’s 20k cause it’s better metal which it’s really not u can get the same box for 4-9k full set up like an epic or master series and be way better off the days of snap on and tool trucks being the only quality tool is long over even back in the day I could get other tool brand for cheaper and get the same quality but the truck had most of the industry believing their bs
I can't see wat da fuck he doin
