  • Which one is for you?! ⤵️
    👉 TMJ Orthotic - prescribed for TMJ/TMD
👉 Sleep Apnea Appliance - prescribed for Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Well, what if you have both TMJ/TMD & OSA?! This is what I recommend to my patients:
    1) Use a custom TMJ Orthotic with CPAP at night. If CPAP cannot be worn, then transition into a Sleep Apnea Appliance that includes their unique TMJ prescription AFTER the TMJ issues have resolved!
    2) Stay with custom TMJ Orthotic and CPAP indefinitely!

Can someone wear splint at night for the rest of their life? Sometimes I think getting surgery because one dentist ruined my tmj and teeth...she dislocated my jaw one month ago and now I m trying to find solutions because my bite is modified and the pain is excruciating..but in Romania we are so behind with de information and doctors dont really know how to treat these tmjd 😢

I don’t use the word “splint” because it can mean nightguard or it can mean TMJ orthotic. It’s too confusing. In this video I’ve explained the difference between a nightguard and an orthotic:
