I won't argue whether or not that was a good decision, but I personally wish we could have kept the more feminine look because now the MX-5/Miata just looks like every other convertible on the market. If you put the new one side-by-side with something like a BMW Z4, anyone not into cars probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between the two.

I love both I got to drive both even though I am 14 (shhhhh don't tell anyone) because my neighbor has both and the NA is fun even thought the ND is better in every way. The NA just gives you a smile when driving while in the ND its like driving a new car and its just the same as almost any other car you see on the road. The NA feels like a really big go kart so that's the biggest reason why I love it.

I have owned 2 MX5's a NC and later an NB. I moved overseas and bought a VW Gti mk 7 which is an incredible car ! but at the end of the day, nothing satisfied me more than the the MX's ! all the little quirks make you love them more n more. Can't wait to drive/ own one again !

Great fun! We owned a 1990 NA1 and now have a 2019 ND2 Gt-s. Love, love them both! You cracked me up when you mentioned the ND resembling the styling of BMW Z4, because that is the car we owned in between the NA and the ND. We found that the ND Gt-s has all of the fun of the NA paired with all the power and luxury of the Z4, but - and people are welcome to argue with this - we like the looks of the NA better than the Z4.
I do agree with the NA being a more visceral driving experience. I love the feedback and how fast everything responds, whereas the ND with its electronic everything (especially the throttle, i cant stand electronic throttle in any modern car ive ever driven) just doesnt feel like it responds as well
Now the new MX-5 DOES look pretty beast, it IS sexy as all hell, BUT... The tail lights... The tail lights look like crap. They remind me of some of my old Lego Bionicles more than a cars tail lights.
Excellent collaboration between you both. I love the MX5, never owned one, but because I've owned similar 90's roadsters (S2000) I totally understand this car. I've driven an NA and B, but never an ND before, but I can comment on the NA's raw feel vs. a more refined roadster. It's similar to when people compare the AP1 and AP2 S2000s.
I really don't like the aggressive styling of the ND; it looks like every other car that is trying to appeal to the "basic bro". The MX5 is not a car for the basic bro.

I agree with Alex, after daily driving a 1990 NA and then driving a ND the throttle response is noticeably much better (i.e. the revs respond to inputs faster and rev up quicker) BTW I personally regularly get 30mpg with mixed driving (mostly city) on a 1.6L Miata even though the sheet says its supposed to get like 28 on highway :/
