I use a pool noodle for driving....take a pool noodle, the thin one, cut in quarters...then take 1 part and put on the seat crease, take another part and put behind your back. The thicker pool noodles might be better for larger curves. I also use a garden kneeler to put behind my back (in front of the pool noodle on the seat crease) then the 2nd noodle right in the small of my back. Totally solved my driving pain for under $5. I save the extra pool noodle pieces to put in the other car or for when I lose a piece. (it happens). The towel always gets crushed after several days but the pool noodle stays springy. Dr. McGill is amazing. His book Back Mechanic makes so much sense and helped me understand my lower back pain as I treated it. McKenzie's exercises didn't work for me at all. No pain is the same for everybody and one has to find what works. Glad you guys are explaining McGill's methods. And yes, walking helps me a lot. My PT encouraged me to walk for short distances even when I was in major pain, and I'm glad he did.
Thank you so much - May here from Glasgow Scotland- seriously bad sciatica - I’ve got into the rolling on the tennis ball exercise , but it often hurts so much. I see a lovely physiotherapist, but only once a month. I’ve had 2 previous spinal surgeries and want zero surgeries for the rest of my life. The pain travels from mid buttock to my foot- and I’ve occasionally fallen over. I’m sitting here with a back support as directed by you - and have just looked out the only chair I have where I can swing my leg through- I’d love to give you a huge 🤗 hug - needs to be virtual though Re COVID-19. I stumbled on a video of McGill on UA-cam and then learnt of his book, Back Mechanic. 6 weeks ago I was experiencing tremendous, debilitating sciatic pain (in my back) and it was a complete nightmare. It's how I learnt of you guys while searching for remedies online. I tried McKenzie Press-Ups, but they made it worse. The info in Back Mechanic really helped my recovery. I'm still recovering, but much better than I was 6 weeks ago. Keep up the good work Bob & Brad!

This is perfect timing! I've been having symptoms of sciatica this last couple months and just got x-rays yesturday that show moderate L5/S1 DDD and facet hypertrophy. I know somethings been going on there for a decade but 10 years ago nothing was showing in scans/x-rays so couldn't get PT. Very glad to have found you all.

I have been fighting mine since knee replacements three weeks ago. I have been doing slight stretching to try and help, but it is making sleeping a tough road. Thanks, guys! I have been for 2 weeks now. I went to emergency and gave me steroids, ibuprofen and flexeril. I’m against poison pills but the pain is too much. I carried heavy boxes on a move snd that is how it happened. Also the nerves under my arms hurt. I will try.

Otay I hav highten my adjust medi seat bout 14"..dishes left foot up on seat then other..rite slides on pretty good left I hav to get up on rite toes..doing three days tightness isn't as intense but still there but progress .open up groin ,back hips..lay on BAC both hips good left wouldn't line up painful ...also a pray my heart is very sad for Gabby ,life sucks at times..now get back to work .

Should I floss on both sides as well because When I floss on the right side I feel the same symptoms nerves on the left side too…You guys are great . Bob and Brad, guys I need your help I have so much pain when I am sitting for one year all the pain in my sacrum I try to use a towel it decreases my pain but not a lot, and when I sit more the pain increase I fell so sad 😔 the pain never go away I try McKenzie but that did nothing I have l5 -s1 disc herniation please tell me what I need to do. “Heal” isn’t exactly the correct terminology but yes as PT I’ve helped many people with disc issues get back to normal with no symptoms. Definitely consider PT or look up videos by Bob and Brad on the topic
Well now I’m not able to sit for longer than 30 min I feel something hard on my bottom I have a severe herniated disc on my L5 that’s what they told me looking at my MRI scan should I consider getting surgery? since it has been going on for 8 months.. im 21 suffering from this pain
I have a problem when I fly home to the Philippines, and the flight will take more than 15 hours. How can I sit for that long? I've had a herniated disc for two months and am grateful that the pain in my right buttocks area is now tolerable. I am doing stretching 20 minutes twice a day. I do that to stop my pain and I also learned to lean over my counter and stretch my back out,it works every time. Sometimes I'm almost an hour at the stove,it's hard for me to stand that long. If my back hurts to bad though where nothing helps,then i get someone else to cook.

That was the same for me and apparently my core strength was rubbish. Try 3 months of core strengthening and see how you feel. It's amazing!

Can PT sessions heal herniated disc ?
Yes! I just went to see a sports medicine doctor for this - they will not consider anything else before a full round of PT.

U no what's real painful sciatica lap dance pain..then the body massage don't come cheap but I love her little toes on my back.
