That's your call to adventure. Get on it. Start running. Follow the couch to 5k. Maybe you are one of the greats, but still don't know it

Yeah, this is the opposite of my sport, being 6'6 and 110kg I am just not built for this, but you've got to respect these guys. I think I'd be happy if I did 1 loop. One of the toughest competitions out there, that's from a heavyweight boxer

That's what I did too, then slowly started running myself, form a couch to 5k to 10k, then half marathons to a full marathon. It is a great journey, you will love it.

"Youre way too good a runner, to not have finished a fun run.." Lazarus line from the movie, came to mind. But just being at it for 40 hours is way beyond anything i could imagine. Great job, amazing footage.

I just discovered this marathon from my local news the weekend it was happening. I got curious and googled it. Next thing you know I'm watching the documentary on Netflix and watched via twitter the race results. That is how I find your channel. I'm hour north of the race in Scott county, TN. Good job man, that race is brutal. Keep at it. Proud of your accomplishment.

I have followed this race for 2 years now and I just have so much respect for you and anyone who tries this. At my best health, before breaking my back, I was going to try this marathon. Like you said, things happen and you learn new ideas. I have become a well know photographer for my landscape photography now. Wish you all the best and keep following your dreams no matter what!

Wow. Thank you Jamil for continually posting such great content. That was not only an amazing physical and mental effort on your part but also a really fantastic piece of film making. I found myself almost yelling at my computer screen around 14.25 hoping you wouldn't take a 15min power nap. Laughed/cried watching you leaving the road at 17.40 straight into the forest without a trail in sight.
    Keep up the great work.

Jamil, brilliant effort on the Barkley! Can't imagine running for 12+ hours, much less close to 40hrs - especially as the Barkley isn't only about the trail running, there's the whole orienteering aspect which when you're exhausted can only become a massive challenge to overcome!
Thanks so much for creating your channel and sharing your experiences - that's probably the coolest thing: you really are sharing your experiences: the good and the bad, the joy and the disappointment at times... As a newbie to trail running, I both learn and get inspiration from your films, so thanks again and please continue!!!!!! I look forward to your next race posting with much anticipation and wish you all the best!

Your videos are such an inspiration man. You're the embodiment of everything that makes me so happy I discovered trail running.
I'm 28 and took up running 6 months ago after not being active for several years but I am hooked like I couldn't believe is possible. I have five 20ks in the next few months and one 35 K and I plan to aim for the Tarawera 100k next year or the year after.
In defeat you teach almost more than when you are successful, and you show a attitude that I hope I can bring to not just my running but to every area of my life.
    Thank You from NZ.

I can only imagine that feeling at 19:00. Your (any pretty much most others) body language looks like you are standing in front of the head master, caught after doing something wrong, "you got me sir, but I had fun until I was caught" Every one that stands there seems to have a similar vibe of being somewhat apologetic. Is that how it feels in the moment?

How do you do it? Run for 10 hours and rest for 2 or 1.5 hrs(of course you break into pieces)? A runner has a maximum of
of 12 hours to complete each loop of 20 miles... each runner take from 9 to 10 hours to complete each loop... you have to be great at resting time management, to win this race... not to mention that in the nights it can reach -10 C and complete darkness...
