The only way I can see GP being profitable long term and game sales start to actually climb again is for MS to shift the GP strategy. STOP PROVIDING FULL GAMES ON GP. Turn it into what shareware was like in the 90's, back when they had thousands of demos available on yearly CD's. GP would be great as a try before you buy platform (how I've been using it). If a game got my attention for 2 hrs and I'm hosed in without any glaring complaints (i.e. NOT Starfield), it gets a purchase and added to my permanent library. If it doesn't, well... next game please.
Completely agree with this. They should allow there games to make sales and return on investment. If not, at least give them a free pass. I just don’t like that they axe them without giving them the chance to achieve a good sales figure and fight their corner.
Yeah when X-box closed down those studios awhile back I thought to myself what the heck are they doing, and I still have no clue why they did it. I mean with Arkane you can say they messed up with redfall sure, but before that they made Pry which was great. And Tango gameworks was an amazing studio, I don't care much for horror but the evil within was amazing I didn't play it myself but I watch a buddy play and it was so much fun. We can only assume they know what they are doing but to us (or at least to most of us) it makes no sense at all.
Yes it just seems baffling. I think it’s more of the fact that these studios had the ability to make a great selection of games like you said. I think closing them all down makes very little sense financially since they just spent billions to acquire the new studios. They are 100% invested into the game pass and I just felt like games like prey and hifi rush were huge and added diversity in their game library. It’s honestly baffled me and I couldn’t really find the reason even when I made this video lol maybe it’ll come out over time? There must be a plan surely?

Why give a toss about an overpriced, under developed, plastic box filled with lacking hardware and a library of games so non-existence, the vacuum of space has more material to offer??
