Waited for this reissue for ages. Let down by the price. Now I can't shake off the thought that it looks like a Citizen Series 8 watch... which itself is also a anti-magneticism powerhouse.
How much do they want?
@@jchong416 $11,000
@@jchong416 13,5k Euro 🥶
@@SuReZ lol seriously? That's more than a Gmt at retail prices. It's an iwc with a modified eta most likely. Who do they think they are?
@@jchong416 Panerai!? 😂
Already complained about it at Theo and Harris but €13000 nearly double than the mark xx, no way
Do complain about alpine eagle nautilus royal oak

@@currentaf8455Yeah and those watches aren't using eta 2892s. Horrible pricing no matter how hard you try to spin it.
Anyone else getting Halfords after market floor mats from that dial?

It looks lovely, but where is the on-the-fly adjustment for the bracelet? How is it that my JLC Gran Sport from the 1990s manages to have micro adjustment on its butterfly clasp, while IWC still can't manage it thirty years later on a watch costing three times as much?
It's too bad that they thought they could get $12K and $15K for a watch without a true in house movement. Just because Genta designed the original, that doesn't mean you have the same value proposition as the others. Maybe people will buy it but I'll wait till they hit grey market for 2/3 the price.
The most expensive standard AP RO’s use a JLC movement, any complaint there?
@@Seconds84 nope because thats JLC
@@Emach76 huh? You said it’s not a “true in-house movement”? The movement that’s in the watch has been highly customized over 2 generations, it’s also refined to IWC’s specifications. JLC movements were the old “eta’s”, they were widely distributed and used by multiple watch brands. They had nothing to do with AP at the time. You’re playing semantics here.
@Joseph Norcott you might be right and my logic is flawed, yet in my opinion...the value proposition is not there (for me) and when I can get it for 2/3 to 1/2 price, I'll consider it.
@@Emach76 trust me, I wish the watch was about 3k less retail. I think most watches are highly overpriced at this point. I want it myself but fear that you may be right and a year from now I can buy it new for 8-9k on grey.
If that happens, I would certainly be aggravated.
For me an amateur with limited budget, I may choose to buy 1 piece of Baume & Mercier Riviera 39mm with Baumatic 120 hours USD5500 (inc VAT) or a new Tudor Black Bay GMT Polar white (newest 2023) dial USD4500. If I am not mistaken, both IWC & Baume are using the same caliber (as sister's company of Richemont) IWC Ingenieur 40mm 32111 caliber 120 hours USD11,700. Am I right?
I actually think it's a gorgeous watch, the aqua color looks like a fun color dial
Whenever I see a company sits on a design for many years It typically comes down to royalty payments due for the first years of the design. I do hope Genta got his money up front instead of waiting for his royalty period to expire. Kind of gives new meaning to IWC. (I want cash)
Well Genta's widow is promoting the release so I'd imagine they reached an agreement for this new release.
You know there are gonna be alot of people saying this is Royal Oak or Nautilus copy without actually knowing who Gerald Genta is. Great job on the brief history before examining these beautiful pieces
Baume et Mercier Riviera, same style, even same movement, a fifth of the price
FINALLY!!! I owned a 3227-01 Ingenieur in the 90's. It's the one watch I truly regretted selling. It was, however, quite a chubby bunny. It had the 12 and 6 with the rest of the hour markers as sticks. This watch looks gorgeous and I think I need one. Any idea what movement is in it? In House?
ETA
I also had the 3227 and I could barely make it a day with it on. Zero clasp adjust was rough yet the new one has the same issue …
32111 in house but it is an IWC upgraded ETA which means it's not an unreliable new movement at least.
Calling it now...these are not going to sell well at all. ADs will be discounting heavily to move them, later this year.
This is the Same price as the new Zenith Pilot big date flyback chronograph. The case and dial are nice, but it's still just a modified ETA movement inside. Why isn't this watch around the 8K mark?
actually Zenith launched a package of awesome watches. IMO.
Love the new zenith big date
I think the Titanium Ingenieur would make a fantastic one-watch collection.
LOVE IT!
Gorgeous! Love it… at 1/3rd the price of the cheapest Royal Oak, this is like buying an omega for the co-axial tech… the cheapest way to get a Genta trinity watch… not even the vintage ones are under $30k… so while it’s expensive in one sense it’s a steel in another…
Hey thanks for watching and commenting I have a give away package for you hit me up on telegram for your package 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
This is completely unrelated, but I think it would be really cool if you looked at a watch from RGM in Pennsylvania. They’re doing really incredible, traditional watchmaking in the US (in house movements, glass enamel dials, tourbillons, and proper guilloche with a rose engine).
It’s just gorgeous, but for the money there are so many fantastic pieces in the $2000-4000 range that I would add to my collection, instead. Saying. Then again, it’s safe to say that I am not IWC’s target demographic. *lol*
Hey thanks for watching and commenting I have a give away package for you hit me up on telegram for your package 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
a remake of a steel sports watch is not really a surprise these days. we could expect this one.
but this is way cooler than any nauti or royal oak cause iwc doesn’t need any bling factor.
And Tom says, “Hoorah!”😂
What is probably going to be the most popular color? Also are people actually going to spend 14k on the Titanium version?
Too expensive. Can you imagine the boardroom today sifting through the feedback on social media, must be crushing. ALL comments, nice design too expensive.

Nice. But far too expensive considering the movement.
Hey thanks for watching and commenting I have a give away package for you hit me up on telegram for your package 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
Very expensive - nice watch, but think about what a collection you may get for the same money. How about a Reverso + a Doxa 300m + a Heuer Monaco and a new Seiko Turtle, Willard-style + a nice watchpouch. But it sure is a nice watch........yeah!
and then again compare it to the other two Gerald Genta Watches out there :)
@@julbor9002 Just because it’s the same designer doesn’t mean it’s on the same level as VC, AP and Patek.
@@CFC.NobarR that is true. but its significantly less expensive still (i agree its abit overpriced, but people act as if its priced just like the APs and Pateks)
A new Reverse is also rather expensive these days...also not everybody wants to own a lot of watches. I now have two watches and for me personally three is perfect and more is overkill (same as with the cars in my garage ;) )
Favorite release so far
when iwc released previous version of ingenuer, I thought they would prepare the return of the genta original(w massive price up). however, it sort of feels like it’s bit too late. world is now in the downturn of economy and integrated lug watches flooded so that people would not care anymore for originality, rather accept those as just one category of watch style…
This watch is hardly original

IWC killed it with the Ingenier! Gorgeous timepiece & I hope this sells well
I hope it doesn't. It's 6-8k watch shamelessly priced at almost double that. Hublot gets bashed for selling overpriced ETA watches, I don't get why IWC gets praise for doing the same shit.
@@Ozmeister666 it isn’t ETA powered but still heavily overpriced, sadly.
@@SuReZ The IWC 32111 is an upgraded ETA 2892-A2 movement.
@@Ozmeister666 its not an upgrade. That type of comment is pointless. Its manufactured and belongs to Richemont group.
A new ETA-based IWC Ingenieur for only 12'000€. Thank you IWC, we love you.
Not ETA, but overpriced.
@@SuReZ On what I read, it is a ETA-based Richmond caliber. Do your research.
@@BobGolob But You have already done the research for me, thx 😉
@@SuReZ In fact I am so disappointed... I was really expecting an in-house caliber for the new Ingenieur. Thanks to the community to have pointed that out.
@@BobGolob I’m also disappoited, but the reason is the price. Imho around 5k would be a realistic and affordable price. That is a really good looking timepiece, inside a reliable 4hz caliber with anti-magnetic properties and 120 hour power reserve. However not worth 13k…
This looks amazing 🎉🎉🎉
I waited years for this and the design is perfect. However, it is too expensive. Price should have been 6-7000 Euros, currently the list price is 2 times that

Whose bright idea was it to sell a 5-6k watch for 12k? These will show up in 2 years' time on the grey market for around that price. IWC has really gone downhill since Kern left.
Sorry, at this price point I’d rather get a GP Laureato, which has way better finishing overall and a see through case back.
Agreed..
All very nice, really like them, but and it’s a big but, very expensive😔

When I have the money I will go teal.
The titanium version should have come in a blue dial variant. And that price?? At almost $12,000 I'd rather get a GP Laureatto or any number of Rolex models like a GMT Master II. These will be at grey dealers for $7k before the end of the year.
So; end of year has passed...how many of the Ingenieur did you see so far at the grey dealers for cheap prices? By the way; not everybody likes to wear a Rolex (I would never wear one) and GP Laureatto just looks like a cheap Royal Oak copy (again personal opinion ).
Totally love these... would be even better at less money! And maybe no butterfly clasp? Maybe 38mm? .... oh you can't please some people!!
But secretly I want one some day
On it About Effing Time interview the CEO suggested there will be other versions. So I'm hoping for something a little smaller and hopefully cheaper (dream on. I know)
I feel the same.
Citizen copy?
It looks great!

Basically same as the iw3239 from 2014
These are all exactly what I've wanted from IWC. A great design and their competitor to the Datejust. But a Rolex is like three grand less. No giant power reserve, but still pretty comparable.

My first thought when I saw this a couple of days ago was that it had American flags all over the dial and that's a big turn-off for me. If they rotated the pattern 90° it wouldn't be bothersome.
I love it. But bad price pt. Should be 5k range....

The design is beautiful but the price is ridiculous, even for the titanium. There's no clever bit of engineering or use of precious materials that justifies this pricepoint.
Inspired by Hublot lol
Great video as usual
IWC have done such a great job here, lovely tapered bracelet and finishing. Want it, love it in Aqua dial….just wish it was at a price I could feel good about. £8k could justify it I need it and it’s worth it. £10k is begrudging and pause rather than commit.
Counter view. Are all watch prices going up due to inflation, higher supply chain costs OR because demand for luxury watches has risen and sensitivity to price for certain designs (esp Genta) has reduced
Don’t know…probably a bit of both.
I like iwc, these look like tissots

The movement is mediocre
they all look like maurice lacroix watches
I think IWC as a whole, is pricing themselves out of success.
This should be an $8k watch max imo. But then they charge $8k for a time only big crown pilot...

WAY too expensive for an IWC with essentially a purchased, modified movement. This will probably be as big a seller as the original at this price, the titanium one is about the same as the Rolex Ti Yachtmaster!

Well goodbye IWC. I had targeted an Ingenieur as a potential next watch, but now the one I wanted is no more and the new ones are way over 2 times more. Goodbye.
I have the Mark XX which has the same movement. It runs incredibly accurately when it is fully or near fully wound. Unfortunately, when I leave it in my drawer for a few days and it is in the second half and more towards the end of the 5-day power reserve the movement runs incredibly fast - way too fast. This happened just today when I picked up the watch after not having worn it for a few days and the watch was two/three minutes ahead of the actual time. It's definitely not a good look that IWC is using its customers yet again as beta testers for new movements. The exact same happened with the 5000 series movement some ~20 years ago - only one mainspring barrel with huge power reserve and then running super fast towards the second half of the power reserve. IWC has since fixed that by adding a second mainspring barrel but it certainly left a bad taste at the time. Sad to see the same thing repeat again with this movement now. Please don't view this post as unfriendly criticism or trying to put down IWC as a company. I am into my fifth IWC watch now and I am looking to add the new Portugieser 40 with the salmon dial for which I already put an order in with my authorized retailer.
Want it bad….you just spoiled my saving plan

With the 32000-calibre family, IWC expands its range of automatic in-house movements. For these rugged and reliable movements, and for the first time ever, IWC has used components made of silicon. The escape wheel and pallet lever are made of this incredibly wear-resistant material. A bidirectional pawl-winding system supplies the energy required by the movement. Similarly to a Pellaton automatic winding system, it winds the mainspring when the rotor is moving in either direction. Thanks to advances in movement technology, the 32000-calibre family offers a 72-hour power reserve. In addition, the long service life of the mechanical components has been increased by newly developed lubricants.
The architecture of this movement is based on the ETA 2892 though this movement is manufactured by ValFleurier, the movement manufacturer owned by IWC's parent group.

So not “in house” then
@@patrickdaly5988 At sisters house. Almost everyone is doing something like this though. Is a Ford really a Ford. Does Lockheed build the raptor in house? It's purist honestly and is of no practical concern to me. Contract manufacturing built to spec by another division of the same company vs "they bought an ETA and carved IWC in the rotor" like most posters are pretending.
@@hoosiercoinreview6428 Yet IWC do the upmost to obfuscate the origins of their movements. Which is par for the course with Richemont, with panerai being the worst offender. IWC knows the value of in house, hence their marketing guff being as clear as mud in their true origins.
@@patrickdaly5988 I'm not sure it's that important at all price points honestly. Newest AP went to Vaucher mfg. Czapek is basically outsourced down to the last screw and sells out for years with secondary market very strong. FPJ and VC outsource their dials. They should just be forthcoming about it so people don't sneak around whispering that it's an ETA when it's really an ETA architecture with a LOT of upgrades built from scratch down the street at a company they also own.

They look like a mix between Pateck Ap Rolex and Breitling, I like IWC but these watches are failed
This IWC is release of the year, in all watch industry, I dare to say. However, this is massively overpriced. IWC is charging some 5.000 swiss franks on Genta hype. I mean, Aquatimer and Type XX with same calibre are some 5000 franks cheaper each.
Ingineur on titanium is priced 15.000 swiss franks!!!!!??????. There is saying among slavic people in Balkans: tax on fools. No offense, but I would never pay that money for IWC in the JLC, Glasshute Original and Rolex territory.
Other than that, it is stunning watch. IWC has nailed it and they know that this will sell as hot cake.
Doesn’t have the special touch of the original. Not a fan of the design and the ETA movement. Especially for that price.
Great watch but nah never gonna pay that much money for it. So for me it’s a - why bother watch.
Uninspired
way too overpriced for a simple steel watch, and it doesn't even have a movement to be seen. why would anyone think it's more special than a Rolex steel sports watch?
You go and buy your boring Rolex then.
watch out for damn scammers round here…
I hope IWC has more up their sleeve than these overpriced and unremarkable Ingenieurs.
Come on grumpy. They finally woke up and are realizing what they messed up on. All the other séries are great (could say some are still a little big) but after destroying the ingénieur line up they finally came to their senses! It’s expensive for sure and frustrating and I’m guessing they did take in consideration the success of Daddy RO and Mummy N in their calculations. What’s more shocking is the mess up of a gift that was given to them through all those years, where the previous CEO’s were left to do their stuff as the other lines where pulling the brand along.
Shame that it's just a ETA-clone with some modifications, and then they want you to pay 12-15k for it. Garbage
Fully in-house with a 5-day power reserve. Which ETA is this a clone of?
@@complicatedtime It's made by richemont movement subsidiary val fleurier, and you find the same movement in baume and mercier and other richemont brands. It is an ETA 2824 built and modified by val fleurier, and iwc calls it "in house" because it's not bought by eta (patent is gone ofc), but nevertheless it is copied. Improved, but not really special enough to demand such prices imo.
@@thor_86 but you would pay it for a very average Rolex movement I bet.
@@garyboyle695 Yes, probably. But those are also cheaper than this, and the "average" 3230/35 is pretty much the best movement in the industry in terms of reliability and accuracy. But with rolex I pay for more than just the movement and quality, you pay for the brand recognition and the designs. With iwc I'm paying for "iwc" and the eta movement. To be fair I also pay for a genta design here, albeit a less celebrated one. It's a watch I'd want if it was brought down to earth, say around 5000usd. But hey, that's just me.
