  • It took many years of training and learning as a coach before I was able to say goodbye to common squatting myths - and I’ve been feeling better ever since.
If you’ve ever heard you shouldn’t squat with your knees past your toes, or that the big mover muscles are on the back of your legs so that’s all that should be trained, you’re missing out on valuable training for sport, physique, and longevity.
In the two years I’ve become friends with Ben Patrick (kneesovertoesguy), his methods have influenced some of my own. Here are 3 foundational lessons to overcome knee pain, and also incorporate into any strength and conditioning program to look good and move well for decades.

When I discovered the kneesovertoesguy, I encorporated his exercises into my routine. Six months later, my legs are super strong improving my balance. I'm 70 years old. Thanks to both of you.

Been working out for 10 years. Nagging shoulders, upper back, knee and a lower back injury that brought me from being able to squat 350lbs to not even being able to squat the bar, made me realize that something had to change. I’ve done ATG program for 6 months now. I feel my joints healing slowly but surely. My physique looks just as muscular as back when I lifted heavy. Don’t be scared of losing muscle on ATG program.

I love what you doing! I did bodybuilding for so many years. I was always learning something new. Then I transitioned to CrossFit. Totally the movements are so different! And that’s my challenge.
And I found your videos! I also found out a group at my gym doing your program!

I needed to hear this. For the past 6 months I’ve been training with high volume for hypertrophy that consisted of mostly “safer” machine movements. I put on tons of muscle, but then 2 weeks ago I pinched a nerve in my neck. Realizing how imbalanced my body had become since putting on this much size, I looked up knees over toes. I was excited about the possibility of better mobility and less pain, but I also didn’t want to give up my muscle mass. This video put into perspective the long term game, and I feel more at ease about embracing this new direction prioritizing movement health above all.

I really like how you give credit to kneesovertoesguy. I've been doing your persist programme for a few weeks now and have been feeling strong enough in my knees to go back to gymnastics, after stopping for four years after tearing my ACL. I am so happy for this and grateful for discovering Persist. Thanks man

A great story & explanation, I'm now into something like my 65th year of physical culture training & coaching & I have a similar take on Ben Patrick's methods, discoveries & advice. I never met Ben but I did get a book explaining his thinking & I have benefited greatly from the input. I commend you for putting all this into this video with your explanation. Not sure about the head band but agree with all the rest, best wishes - 👍

Somewhat new to your channel and just invested in your programs. 55. Rotator tear and two torn meniscus later, I’m wrestling with crap right shoulder range of movement and post surgical fluid like buildup that’s been I my knee since post-op a decade ago. Found ATG through you. The content and tone is superb. Thank you.

Not to take anything away from the kneesovertoesguy but I feel like this concept of knees over toes being something innovative only applies to the western mindset of physical fitness. If you look at eastern modalities of physical fitness and strength this concept is not new at all and in fact very old. Hindu squats, yoga, Tai chi, even eastern European/Russian athletics have concepts that are much more functional when it comes to physical fitness and building full body strength, mobility, and flexibility. It's a similar case with the wim hof method; it was something old in the eastern world but because a westerner did it, it seemed innovative to the western world

Thanks for responding to my comments.
I was looking for how did you incorporate “knnesovertoesguy”s theory to your training.
And also, I personally suffer from bad knee myself, I was looking for some critical opinions from professional athlete. Which I didn’t get. Maybe I misunderstood the title of the video.
Since it didn’t have the information or tips I wanted, I just fast forward(?) the video.
I am not looking for quick fix, but I certainly don’t have time to carefully watch through the irrelevant video, rather watch the video have much more relevant one.
