    Hey there,
In this "Animal Cottage Part 7” video, I remade the front door. The reason for this was so I could make a Dutch door. This will allow the top portion to swing open to cool off the inside and allow fresh air in. I really didn’t need the door until the warmer summer months, but since I’ve been working on insulating the inside, I figured I should do it now so I can get it insulated as well before moving on to the dormer window and ceiling. The door’s frame was made from 2x3 construction lumber. I used lap joints on the four corners and angled supports within the frame to help prevent sagging over time. The outside was wrapped in tar paper and then finished with reclaimed fence pickets. Now it’s ready for insulation.

There are many ways to build and many different methods and tools to use. This video just documents the way I went about this project. I hope this video inspires you to build something and maybe use reclaimed materials as well.
    Take care and stay safe,
