As a veteran player from the beta days that never got past level 65 due to simply getting distracted by exploration and RP lol i fell in love with dwarves after joining a dwarf RP kinship. And my favorite class has always been captain so seeing this when im about to start playing again makes me very excited
@VoiceoftheRings me and my wife will be starting again soon im from landroval, but a new server with a active community will be a must! See you on crickhollow
The 5% light damage on high elf also pairs well with (I think) a redline warden trait that also adds a percentage bonus to light damage. Not to mention any bonuses you can get from LI traceries. That can stack up pretty quick.
What I went with as a fairly new player: Burglar=Stout Axe, because + to daggers and axes, also dorf. Captain=Man for heal bonuses. Champion=Highelf because they´re OP. Guardian=Dwarf for fitting racials and Zollin is my muse. Hunter=Elf for the Bow damage. Lore Master=Man for healing racial. Runekeeper=Stout Axe for +fire damage, also DORF. Minstrel=Highelf +light damage. . I need more slots to make a Brawler, but I´m thinking Hobbit because Brawlers don’t seem to lose much by going Hobbit. Oh yeah, Warden=Highelf.
Yep I'm streamrolling solo stlry questing first time on High Elf Chamion. It's just a little boring by 30. But High Elves are my favorite race in general.
Burglars get an extra bonus when using daggers, so any race burglars want to use daggers. Hobbit guardians definitely would want to use clubs and be a bounder.
Great video, thank you! I am a prospective player and first time viewer, so I would appreciate a video breakdown that ranks stats and traits. You mentioned some as being “useless” which makes me curious. Thanks again.
Gald you like video! Welcome! You mean stats in general or stats you get with you race choice? I do have one one stats in general already on playlist. For race choice, the stat bounce youvget of plus like 7 is so small, it will barely effect anything later on.
A lot of the racial bonuses are just noise once past the early parts of the game. The ones that matter provide a % bonus rather than some scaling but flat value that gets buried by the bloat of stats that come later. For example, the Man racial self-heal is really nice at first but near end game represents just a tiny sliver of the morale bar. I don’t know if SSG wants so many of the racial bonuses (and penalties) to be this unimportant or if they just haven’t gotten around to adjusting them from turn-of-the-century LOTRO for the contemporary game. I’d like them all to be noticeable but not so significant that group leaders will only take certain races in combination with needed classes for a run. Wardens don’t have to use spears so sword, club, and even dagger and axe bonuses are valuable for them. (Yes, Wardens can use axes. Unlike Minstrels…) High Elves arguably make the best Minstrels, Wardens, and non-tanking Captains, Brawlers and Guardians to a lesser extent. Minstrels and Wardens especially deliver a lot of Light damage and Wardens can use swords - even better than some people realize, Wardens get +2% extra parry and +1% extra chance to hit with swords, the extra parry seems tiny but it is significant. Remember, though, that the various +5% damage bonuses aren’t whatever the damage total is then modified by x1.05, the +5% is added to whatever other bonuses apply (there are a lot of bonuses at high level especially when in a group) so the individual racial bonuses aren’t really as strong they sound and make less of a difference the higher the level of the character. Between the fantasy of playing a tall, beautiful, anciently wise yet eternally young being and the racial bonuses, it’s no wonder the game worlds are chock-a-block full of Elves and the most popular race change is to High Elf from anything else. That Stout-axe block bonus skill will work even without a shield. What is the best racial skill in the game? The Beorning honey-cake. They do not bind and they scale their effect to the level of the eater, not the level of the producer. Your Level 20 Beorning can make cakes for your Level 140 Whatever and all his kinmates. With the exception of having only a 5-minute duration (compared to 10- or 20-minutes for similar foods made by the Cooking profession) they are just as good as nearly any other out-of-combat regen food.
@@YA-kr4fr That's a perfectly fine combination! One of the nicest racial traits is +5% Incoming Healing and only characters of the race of Man get that. It's especially helpful to a tanking Warden but is very good even for a DPS Warden playing solo.
@@JohnMHammer wonderful because I saw on a forum that the 5% light damage was noticeable. So I am currently level 12 and so far the gambit system is not that hard with 3 combo points, I was wondering if the class complexity gets much harder later on and if so are there any addons or macro to help with it
@@YA-kr4fr I strongly recommend the plugin WardenEase2. If you're learning the gambits as you level and keep WardenEase2 on your screen as a "cheat sheet" you should have no troubles.
If there the class has a Special park possibly... But i'm almost hundred percent sure it's only shields that can give you block chance. You're always able to evade and you get perry from weapons.
They keep the hard things to not being some things like beornings etc. But, as far as gameplay and MMOs go. They had to branch out and make more options to be competitive. There are a few things thay can't be others still for lore reasons. But over all MMOs are for your ability to be what you want to be in a fantasy world like ARDA. But I don't find any to be lore breaking on an exsteme level.

Awesome! So glad! If you join the server crickhollow! We all play on that one you can join us.
Great guide. It's great you took the time to discuss the racial traits and how they compliment certain classes. Well done.

Sounds like dwalin! Do it!!!

For the blocking racial for the stout-axe, its writen that you block even without a shield

Appreciate this video, especially considering the 5% weapon bonuses that aren't on the main page.

Champion's don't get to use shields
I was able to use a shield on my champion in the past.... but, they may have changed that now at time of this comment
brawler is the most moronic class they introduced. Has no place in the lore and there were already plenty of melee classes.
Woow seems like it really bothered you. To bad. Some like them. They are alot of fun.
Wft why 23 characters lol? In WoW pov its a lot kek
I play with alot of people. Some characters are just gor playing with 1 or two people. Haha
Is "light damage" equal to "lightning damage" ?
No, Lighting and Light are different.
