Mega Man 1 Was Special....

  • Mega Man 1 is undeniably one of the most brutal and unforgivable games in the mainline series. It was the first of its kind and MegaMan didn’t have all his power ups and skills he acquires through the various games. It was just your trusty buster and a gauntlet of some of the most vicious robot masters in the franchise. In today’s video we go into detail on the backstory, lore, and gameplay of a game that was truly revolutionary at the time.
    With all being said this is my very first review on the channel. Mega Man single handedly changed my youth and if it wasn't for this series my taste in gaming might be drastically different today.
    Thank you for watching!!!

      @@RockinKatReviews One big difference for me is... I actually like Mega Man 1 more than 2, but not more than 3 or other games.
      I feel like not enough people point out the more empty level design of 2 with enemies not being well utilized, and how the weapon pool isn't as well rounded as 1's, or, well... The Wily stages somehow being even more obnoxious in 2.
      ... But probably not as bad for most people the Wily stages as they played the American easy mode, but... i haven't.
      Though 2 did improve on some things, it's far less glitchy, has passwords, way better presentation, and e-tanks, all of which are great! But i still think MM1 did slightly better than 2 overall.
      The Wily Wars did improve Mega Man 1 a lot actually, though Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 didn't get touched on really, i still wish less people kept dogging on Wily Wars, it's a fine game, with the best version of Mega Man 1.
      Though i still like the NES version honestly.

      @@rapappathepepper3996 I love the fact you mentioned Wily Wars. It really doesn’t get enough recognition. I think the original core 6 robot masters just compliment each other very well and the enemy skills just play off each others weakness perfect. I’m finishing up my thoughts on MM3 this week and def a few of my opinions line up with yours regarding mm2 vs mm3. For me as the series went on the games got more enjoyable for me but I always had a huge soft spot for 1

    Nicely done br0! MegaMan 1 is often regarded as the "growing pains" of the series. The formula was good, but the kinks needed to be worked out. Most notably, that little slide after landing a jump drives me absolutely bonkers. I will admit that the one aspect of MegaMan 1 I wish had carried over to the rest of the games was the scoreboard/points counter. I know points are worthless, and as kids we didn't care about it (unless it meant extra lives) but as I get older I find myself keeping tabs on my score in games like Super Mario Bros 3 or other games that don't reward the player. It would be nice to keep tabs on scores from the other MegaMan games. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

    • @RockinKatReviews
      @RockinKatReviews  19 днів тому +2

      Thanks my bro you are 💯 on point with the scoring system. To me I enjoyed having it gave a bit of variation to running a game aswell. You could have a speed or a score based run

    • @underwaterlevelz1947
      @underwaterlevelz1947 19 днів тому +2

      @@RockinKatReviews Precisely. Take MegaMan 2 for example, I find I play it the same way each time. I get the Metal Blade first and spam it the rest of the game. Its fun, but i wish I had a scoreboard so I could see myself racking up points during a dominant run. Knowing you're dominating isn't the same as having a points indicator proving you are dominating. I know there's other ways to play 2 like buster only but I much prefer Metal Blade.

      With Capcom announcing the MVC collection I could def see them putting out a remaster of legends 1,2, and Tron Bonne and follow that up with Legends 3. Especially with the Capcom survey please even give me a MM12 we have been patiently waiting. Also thank you for sharing your experience with 1 because even as a kid I could not track down 1 anywhere it was such a hard game to even find. I would pick up 4-6 as they came out and really loved 6 but 1 was a mystery at that time and not may ppl spoke about it so it was definitely eluding me to find it for many years

    Growing up in podunk Michigan, this game was the most elusive as a kid…so hard to find. I imagine we are around the same age. My story of playing 2 and 3 first then finally managing to be able to play the first mirrors yours. I think trying so hard to get this game is probably one of the reasons it remains one of my favorites in the whole series. Thanks so much 🙏 yes for me it was very much the same… I couldn’t find MM1 anywhere and when I did manage to go back and start picking up the original series of games I picked all up but 1. MegaMan 5 was another that was a bit harder to find aswell and always pricey even when NES collecting started getting popular again in early 2000 I actually purchased my original games in the video from a local flea market we had in the area and went to a few funcolands too. As a kid tho When I finaly picked up the snes I was still going back and playing a lot of the late release nes games like star tropics and MM6 something about that time around 92-94 when the nes and snes were still out was a special time.

      From what I remember possibly an interview with Capcom or Inafune that was the original stylized concept for MegaMan but I believe they went with a different artistic approach maybe due to the nes restrictions so I believe that’s why they ended up giving him chibi look in the psp remake

    I enjoyed this video, but I do have a couple bits of criticism:
    1. You really need to increase your audio level. This video is way too quiet!
    2. I can appreciate a good preamble, but you don't really talk about the game itself until a whole 7 and a half minutes into the video. I did feel like the actual analysis at that point could have gone into a bit more depth, too.

    • @RockinKatReviews
      @RockinKatReviews  16 днів тому +3

      Thanks so much for the feedback will def take that into account. I actually captured audio for my second video with a much better mic so It sounds much better. The first video was mainly me testing the waters with my editing capabilities and I’m looking more to capture a reflections video more so then an in depth analysis. As much as I would love to dive into a deep review I wanted to focus more so on what it was like experiencing that moment and how I felt playing this for the first time
