Washing and Sanitizing Play Sand

When its time to deep clean your sand, watch this short instructional video created by Dr. Lorraine Freedle to help sandplay therapists and parents wash and sanitize play sand.
Step 1. Sift sand to remove large unwanted materials and place sand in deep bucket (no more than half full)
Step 2. Insert garden hose to bottom of bucket. Stirring gently, inject water under and through sand.
Step 3. Pour off water and suspended dust, dirt and foreign particles.
Step 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until water is relatively clear and free of debris.
Step 5. Transfer sand to aluminum roasting pans and bake several hours in a 250-300 degree F. oven (until sand is completely dry).
Step 6. Cool sand before use.
