    Great video !
    For those who may need a substitute solution,
    Maybe use essential oil/vinegar/oil, if you are worried about babies and pets or have an allergic reaction to commercial brands.
    (Pour one cup of water into a glass measuring cup. Then add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. Then pour in two tablespoons of olive oil. Then add 5 drops each of lemon, grapefruit, and lavender essential oils. Shake well and spray on the surface that needs dusting.)
    The most worrisome preservatives in fabric softeners/laundry detergents include methylisothiazolinone , a potent skin allergen, and glutaral, known to trigger asthma and skin allergies. Glutaral (or glutaraldehyde) is also toxic to marine life. Among artificial colors, D&C violet 2 has been linked to cancer.
    All love and peace ❤️

For those of us that prefer a greener option to fabric softener, warm water with a few drops of dish soap and any essential oil of your choice would also work, i.e. I love citrus essential oils. The greenest option would be something that doesn't off gas anything. A damp cloth with water will pick up dust and leave no residue. But if a cleaner is needed use fragrance free. Remember this saying "Go mild not wild". Your lungs will thank you.

      Careful. Aromatherapy can lead to Chemotherapy. Learn how to clean house without toxic chemicals. Low VOC is the way to be. She will be inhaling the fumes from that fabric softer 24/7/365. The dust is less harmful than the fabric softener. Damp mop with water is superior.

    So, what exactly is fabric softener? A base, an acid, absorber, what is it? I ask because I think Americans own a ton of chemicals which could really just be replaced with 3 or 4 things: baking soda, lemon juice, etc. If I have more than 3 chemicals under a bathroom sink I stop and try to think how I could give less money to Procter and Gamble.

See what people are unaware of is we lose 1,000 hairs a day and it ends up in our rugs and anywhere one can imagine, so I started doing that at 12 (Lol) and I have since. But yes make sure you disinfect as well at least once every two weeks I'd say. Softener sure will make it smell good soften them up, but really disinfect them as well. It doesn't hurt the carpeting at all and you'll be in shock when you see how dirty and how much comes up. Also yes the shaving cream works I would buy a few bottles I sprayed 4 floors completely used a tooth brush if there was a little stain left it a little bit , wet the mob and it cleaned my rugs like new, I also browed my Neighbors wet dry vacuum it sucked everything up. So spreading fabric softner oil solids will make it cleaner? Sounds like dirt would stick to it. Spray detail wax, probably better once they are clean

    I've never used fabric softener. It should work on ceiling fan blades too then. Hopefully dust wont gather on them after. Thanks

    • @arnoldfrackenmeyer8157
      @arnoldfrackenmeyer8157 2 роки тому +2

      If the dust doesn't stick to the fan, it will just land somewhere else. It doesn't eliminate the dust, just relocates the dust. But now you have to live with a toxic coating.

    • @suzanzaman7942
      @suzanzaman7942 2 роки тому +1

      There is a static electricity charge that comes from the ceiling fan that is why it collects so much dust, I researched it. I've decided to use floor fans I have high ceilings and I can't always grab the 8 ft ladder everytime I want to clean.

    • @Kelly-nd3cz
      @Kelly-nd3cz 2 роки тому +1

      @@suzanzaman7942 very interesting because I always wandered if I tried WD-40 if that would keep the dust off the ceiling fans. If you run air or heat in your home don’t forget to change your filters. I have a metal one my mom ordered for my new house and I just rinse with the hose every MTH yet make sure it’s completely dry when putting back in.

    In our house we save all those old mismatched socks. Or old tshirts that you’re going to throw out anyway. The socks we just wet them and stretch them out to fit over fan blades as well. Trust me we go through a lot of socks! Can be thrown away or rewash. The fuzzy socks are super good for vents and furniture dusting. Can be flipped inside out to make them go farther in cleaning.

    • @Mandy_39
      @Mandy_39 2 роки тому +7

      Unless they're licking the baseboards I'd think it's ok because it's so watered down. Guess it depends what you use on a regular basis to clean? If that doesn't bother them, fabric softener or conditioner shouldn't but obviously use your own judgements cuz I don't want to be responsible for hurting your fur babies 😉

      I put two dryer clothes on a fan blade cleaner. One on top and one on the bottom. I have a vaulted ceilings so the fan is up high. I use this method a couple of times a year when I actually have turned the ceiling fan off and notice the dirt build up. I did it more when the cats were still alive because the blades would get covered in cat hair.
