I couldn’t live with MTs on a daily driver so I went with the Toyo RTs. Couldn’t be happier. If your MTs are anything like my RTs I bet they still looked new after those tracks! Thanks for showing me what my ranger can actually do :)
Seeran Farhee cheers mate glad you liked it. I have had the Toyos for a while now but this is the first time I have taken footage with them. They are an upgrade over the last set and have outstanding grip at low PSI so I have been pretty impressed with them. They are showing plenty of signs of wear from taking them offroad but considering what I put them through it is to be expected. I have another car for daily driving so I prefer the muddies to all terrains but I believe the RTs to be a new tyre great at both inroad and offroad. 👍

Really impressive! The vehicle looks smashing cool, the articulation capabilities are also awesome - even hard to believe these are coils, not air suspension. And I must say - your driving skills, style, and temperament are just beautiful. A good tutorial for those who do not know that less is more, slow is faster, and excessive wheel spin is lame -- not cool.
Are you happy with the tires? I'm driving on Goodrich KO2 and can't be happier given how versatile and durable they are and can handle both dry conditions and winter issues.
AghashQ thanks for all the compliments. That area is really technical and is pretty easy to do panel damage to the car. Iv got the car setup pretty decent at the moment but could be improved with long travel suspension and a front locker.
I’m very happy with these wheels/tyres. Was running a different set before and had nothing but issues. These can be aired down a lot lower and are a lot more durable, not to noisy on the road and pretty good grip. The downside is the extra fuel consumption. Hope that helps
Thanks! Sure all AT tires suck more gas, that's part of the deal. Since my LR3 is my only vehicle (for regular city driving, long trips and offroad), I can't go too wild about all adjustments where I live (Prague, Czech Republic) -- we've got stringent regulations when it comes to technical parameters, can't go too radical or you risk being stopped, outlawed on regular roads or your insurance won't cover damage even if you are not the guilty party. Plus it's all painfully pricey, so I try to go as versatile as possible in terms of tires, protection (most bull bars are banned in the EU) gear, lights, etc. Still run up costs when passing mandatory technical state inspections. I also envy the tracks you have out there!

bloody good skills there, thanks for taking the effort to make the video, I reckon put lockers on it and potentially save the cv’s, you obviously know what you’re doing so lockers would be good for you to just cruise up extreme bits, make more vids please
I was running a set of Toyo ATs. I can't deny they had great grip but their side wall was soft and I split a couple over a couple of months - the last one on a very quiet road at Lithgow requiring a wheel change on a very soft surface with sideways rain and a freezing wind. I threw them in the shed and put BFG MTs on. I am far more trusting off road now.

ripfletching it’s a future mod. Would definitely make it a lot easier. Most of the guys I go out with are twin locked so I have to pick my lines more carefully
Yes I have seen this on your videos. Just thinking how much better your truck is now then most like Toyota 😂 I believe it would smash your friends trucks with correct modifications and potential he keep you from damaging your truck

Amazing video and your off road driving skills are simply great , i honestly love the Ranger , its a beast . but i have always felt that the Fords traction control aint that great , i mean at times one of the front wheel just keeps spinning and spinning and it relies heavily on the rear diff lock to move forward . have u felt that too ? do you feel the need of installing a front difflock

Gday michael, if i may ask, owning the ranger, what has broken doing these types of tracks so far? Any weak points to the ranger? CV's, diffs, cooling issues etc... any info would help. Cheers and keep up the good work
The weakest points would have to be the CV’s for sure.
If broken 2 CVs so far and also had to replace a third CV just because a stick has pierced a CV boot which then allowed mud to ingress causing damage. Other issue has been a an idler bearing which has failed most likely due to mud and dirt. Other than that the only other limitation has been the break over angle and longer wheel base can sometimes make manouvering etc a bit more difficult compared to a wagon. Most of these issues are related to it being an IFS vehicle. Cheers

great videos on the ranger. i'm closely eyeballing the new USA released ranger that comes out next month. couple questions, i see you're running 33s. is that just a fender kit for clearance or did you lift it? i'm debating moving from a 2 door jeep to a 4 door ranger for SAR and offroad fun.

The fenders are to cover the tyres from poking out the sides due to the 0 offset wheels. To clear the 33s I had to lift truck(2”). It may be possible to clear 33s with no lift but only with a more positive offset wheel. I’m not sure what SAR means (search & rescue?) but If you are considering changing from a 2 door Jeep you will essentially be sacrificing off-road capability but gaining onroad/off-road comfort and a lot more storage space for Overland style activities. Or in Australia we just refer to it as touring. The Ranger is is just Fords version of the Tacoma.
@@michaeltoomer4090 thanks for the info! i figured you had to lift it a bit. and yes I mean Search and Rescue. i'm on a team... i am also considering moving to a 4 door jeep but I want to see a ranger in person. you are doing the kinds of trails I like to do and i'm surprised at how well that's handling it all. I do know i'd sacrifice a bit of capability, which is also why the jeep truck coming out is on my radar too lol!

chris blatherwick thanks man ,the new tyres are 305/70r16 on a 16x8 rim. Running them on 14-15psi. Massive improvement over the last set. And no damage other than dings and scratches on the bash plate and rock sliders 👍
@@michaeltoomer4090 are you running beadlock rims on the Wildtrak? PS: I finally fitted the 285-75-16 with a 10 offset rim and works perfectly!
chris blatherwick nah there just standard rims. Work better than expected. A 10 offset rim would be perfect.

@@michaeltoomer4090 Michael, I was having a hard time choosing rim offset for some 33"s and now that I see you recommend +10 I am even more confused. If you have the time, I have some questions for you:
With the stock offset being +55, what is the reason for running much lower offsets? Increased stability and stand-off to save the panels from impacts? What would be the max-min offsets that you would look into? I am planning on running 285/75R16 (16x8 rim) with a 2" lift.
I was looking at a +40 offset so I can keep the tyres inside the guards and the scrub radius similar to stock (is this even a thing I should worry about? Is the handling really affected by offset changes?) I am using this tool for the calculations:

I know at the time of the video you ran 305/70R16 on 16x8 +0 and that you previously did 295/70R17 on 17x9 -12 that you were not happy with because of de-beading issues.

What you see is a Rhino evolution bar, Rhino front bash plate, Superior Engineering Sump/Diff bash plate to suit diff drop, Bushskinz transmission bash plate and TJM transfer case bash plate. The Bushskinz didn’t work with the diff drop.

kelvin atar rear bar is Ironman (recommend). Rock Sliders are Uneek4x4 (don’t recommend).

kelvin atar they flex up easily and hit the sills. I have alot of dents in my sills from when the rock sliders have flexed up. They sit to close and don't leave enough room for movement. Also they are to complicated in design. The underside catches and holds the mud and, makes cleaning harder. I would have preferred a simpler tube design

namptang91 it’s an auto.
Have you found any limitations to the auto?
namptang91 no if anything it makes driving easier off-road. It crawls great uphills, doesn’t stall. And use it in manual mode when climbing and descending.

@@namptang91 can confirm. Do a decent amount of 4wding and specifically chose auto this time around. cant believe what i have been missing out on. Can concentrate on the drive more now. much more enjoyable. On the beach in the sand auto is king aswell. But it all comes down to preference and what the individual likes. some people just like auto and some manuals.

Lcr34 yeah mate still running the same shocks. Was considering replacing them with long travel Bilsteins but if I had money to burn I'd rather put a front locker in. Would be funny if Ford Salesman were actually using my vids.
Hopefully if I ever have to claim warranty for anything they honour it and not use these videos against me 😂
@@michaeltoomer4090 Any particular brand of locker? There's some issue lately on e-locker. Not to say air locker doesnt have its flaws. I was told by some offroad veteran that only use front locker when going straight or youll put huge stress on front drivetrain.
Lcr34 I would probably get the Harrop Eaton locker myself. I haven't heard about any issues. And yes should only use in a straight line

Francisco d. S I think bigger doesn’t mean better off-road. The Jeeps are very capable and not very big. I think the bigger trucks are more for working and carrying gear.

You know what, i've seen 3-4" lifted hiluxes/tritons with 35" struggling up mud hill while jimny with skinny mud tyres goes up with ease.
