  • In this video I build a custom dust collection boom arm for my Ooznest Workbee Z1+ CNC which is all connected to the bench of the cnc and has a swing arm hose support to allow for the movement of the cnc. This setup allows me to move the cnc around without having to detach it from the dust collection pillar and swing arm.

Another 'seemingly simple' solution to the age old problem of effective and efficient dust extraction. I'm sure there was plenty of planning, design and dedication invested in this Tommy, but you make it look so easy 😉

Very good solution Tommy! The baffle holes are a really good idea, and can also come in handy when cutting lightweight materials, as sometimes your extraction can pull the material up slightly as it travels across.

Thanks very much, yes I think a baffle is a must especially if using a high pressure system.

Brilliant idea Tommy, simple and effective design I would never have thought of using pvc pipe as a pillar and being able to hang the pivoting arm from that. You are a genius

Great job Tommy, I've shared it with a friend of mine who's just got a workerbee cnc and is looking at the best dust management he can make for it. Really informative video and another of your excellent UA-cam content.

Awesome job! I like the idea of the boom arm being connected to the CNC table and not a wall. I'll be implementing a similar approach to my own CNC setup. Thanks for posting! Subscribed.

Really well done, sir! Elegant in its simplicity and function. The pressure adjustment holes were brilliant. I'd heard that too high a vacuum and the brush hairs begin to get sucked up into the pipe so this was a lovely adjustable fix. I'll be making mine a little different as mine is going to be enclosed in a dust enclosure but what you presented looks like an easy adaptation. Thanks for sharing, it really helped!

Really like your boom arm. Want to copy it but cannot find the est.99mm ventilation ducting. Easy to get the 100mm but not the insert one. Any suggestion as to where to get it? Keep up the videos - really useful.

    •  Рік тому

Hi Simon, I got the ventilation pipe in screwfix. From memory the sewage pipe is 100mm inside diameter and the ventilation pipe is 100mm external diameter. Another option is to put a sawcut in the bigger pipe so it fits inside itself if that makes sense
