What dust collector do you use? I've been using my shop vac but not sure how much longer it will last running it with the CNC.

On Friday I ordered the Shapeoko 4xxl and been watching most if not all of your videos, today I built the table and now just doing the waiting game waiting for delivery. Your videos are really a lot of help and I think my learning curve will be short. Thanks Sam.

If you make a small "hook" on the end of the dust hose cable you can drill a small hole for it to go into and that will provide some extra strength there. It took me a while to get mine figured out but that worked out perfectly. I have dedicated dust collection for my Shapeoko and another for the shop tools. Great idea with the arm you made though!

Sam, for all you DC hose clamping needs, get a Rockler "offset" clamps. MUCH better than a common clamps, for spiral hose.

'creaky bit of creekpants' LOL Curious, as to how you are finding the dust extraction perform? I saw your shop vac enclosure vid - whaich is a neat solution. I'm umming and arring about how to improve my dust extraction...
Two years later and it's still my only dust collection in my workshop. :)

I would assume the anti static part is the vinyl, not the wire used for structure. And as myth busters proved PVC pipes just can't hold a large enough charge to cause an issues. Awesome work and great video...ok if you ever want to paint the hose, regular rattle can spray paint will never dry on vinyl, have to get the special stuff from an auto parts place

Love your videos brother! I just got a pro and would recommend the shop fox d3347 cam clamp. Just use the bolts that came with your machine to get them to work with the t track system. Sped up my clamping process a bunch.

Nice job Sam, Love your vids. I am a new shapoko pro owner too. Just asking but did you think of using the cnc to mortise and pilot hole the hinge?
Welcome to the party! LOL I briefly considered using the CNC for some sort of hinge, but decided to take the simplest and probably strongest route and use the metal butt hinge. There is quite a bit of stress on that part -- having to support the arm, plus the weight of the 2-1/2" dust collection hose, and the forces being applied to it. I didn't think a wood pivot would hold up in the long run.
I’m trying to find a vac hose to use for my cnc. The hose you use here seems very flexible, which is good. I’m curious to know if the hose shrinks lengthwise when the vacuum is on. Are you still happy with the hose after using for a while?
It will if connected to a smaller size port, but not for the 2-1/2" connection on my CNC fitting. Even with the shrinkage it's not bad.
Sam I have the same cnc . Question when you have the sweepy can you tell me where on the router you clamp it

Enjoy your channel and glad you took my advice and bought that compact shop vac for your 2 stage dust collector.
I just started watching this vid and for me I'd rather see you making it than all the screen shots of the software design. Its really meaningless.
As another cnc newbie I could not care less about watching a machine work! The magic, and ultimate success or failure of the project is in the design stage!!!
It's interesting to note how the bracket barely pivots on that hinge as the machine moves all around
I've noticed this over time, too. In my experience I'd say the hinge is not really needed. :)
@@Samcraftcom I meant to add, that was totally unexpected. I didn't think it would swing wildly left to right, but it's just interesting that it moves so little. This is definitely going to be a help to me, as I have a CNC on order and am planning my area for it.
Why didn't you use the built in bit setter?
I did. That's at the 5:00 mark, then the BitZero is at 6:00. :)
