  • If your ex is - or you suspect he is - a narcissist, tread carefully - and don't just call him a narcissist in court, especially without a diagnosis to back it up. Do this instead.
(If you choose to record, make sure you note your state's laws on this practice. It's legal in #virginia , where I practice, but you'll want to make sure you know about your state's laws if you don't live here.)

Point out their various toxic patterns of behaviors vs. "diagnosing" them. It's their toxic behaviors that cause the harm. Like Your Girlfriend advised, document what they've done. Even if only to keep a record for yourself. When you're stuck in these relationships for whatever reason, there's a tendency to forget or go into denial about the abuse. It's a coping mechanism. Keeping a list also reminds you of what's been happening and empowers you to make changes where and when you can.

I am in probate with a likely malignant narcissist sister and, yes, I’ve used this tactic. In addition, as our communication had been via email only, as she has lied to the court and law enforcement, and as I also have video evidence, hopefully, it has drawn a clearer picture and shown the 2 litigants are unalike.

I'm sorry you're going through this - and I hope she gets the help she needs to be able to maintain meaningful relationships in her life. I also hope this helped!
