    remarkable that the manager says "there's the plus there it is". Imagine being bottom of the table with a -62 GD and still being able to find positives to motivate his group. Mindset 100/100.

      You clearly do not know anything about football You arsehole get out of here and go watch American football or baseball.
      This is about man management and taking every game as it comes as when you are in that situation if you step back and look at everything then there will be nothing to fight for. MENTALITY 10/10 MAN MANAGEMENT.
      Maybe you need to actually play football to understand that. Classic UA-cam armchair football fan think you know it all. Probably support man united but have never been to Manchester. Good bye

    Super film, loved it. A horrific season - certainly the worst in my 38 years of supporting Dover Athletic. But Jim (the Chairman) was right. Football is about following your club, meeting your mates and enjoying yourself on the terrace. What league you happen to playing in at any one time is just detail. COYW!

      Tbf from a Torquay fan was great to watch wish there was more documentaries about clubs in our league. Think from watching this it was a good choice getting rid of the gaffer as it didn’t look like he was motivating the team at all. Hopefully you guys come back in the league again and it would be a good watch tufc vs dover. Or the way this season for us is going we may join you in the south😂

      When Jurgen Klopp managed Mainz, an almost bankrupt club, he had to do everything including ordering grass seed until he got the budget together to hire staff. He said it was the best training he ever had & it made him the coach he is today. Dover Athletic needs the same information that the top clubs have. It’s not all about the money. @@Lildanny527

    This is why non-league football is the BEST! I'm American, but love English non=league football (my team is Weymouth), but it's amazing how these non league teams are able to survive with a payroll less than one Premier League player! But the players, fans, and communities get on, and there's a stronger community bond with these non league teams than with top tier teams.
    Funny comment by Dover's chairman about foreign owners not wanting to invest in a small club like Dover. I wish I had the money to invest in Weymouth. Non league football isn't about raking in tons of money - it's about the community! As for the Premier League - they have no problem sending young players to this level on loan for experience, but how about sending money to this level to improve the facilities?

      Non league football and lower divisions below is real football, real passion and love for the game. It’s absolutely sad what has happened to the PL if we’re talking about England specifically. Billions of pounds, tourist, Instagram fans, big names and the grassroots gets absolutely ignored. Shame.

    I remember when I was a boy Dover were the team to beat in the old Beazer Homes League they came to Crawley Town's old town mean ground and blasted them 2-1 I remember them being so good. For a long time they were the best team but couldn't go on because their league was naff.
    Never forget that night I was so impressed they had a black guy up front who was levels above on a sand covered bog,
    my dad whispering to me to watch how he closes down and how alert he is.
    I use to love going to Crawley.
    In those days you could sneak in to the bar and see the players talking to fans.
    To those young eyes it seemed so bloody epic.

    Amazing story. Not enough has been produced on the incredible rort that happened with money during COVID. There are some people in the game who at a minimum should be out of it, if not in prison for misappropriating funds. The people who just look out for themselves when times are tough are the ones who burn things to the ground rather than create legacies. Well done to everyone involved in this club. The tough times may last a year, or many year but you have to keep going. As they said early, you don't want to be a Bury and have that community lose a key pillar of the towns identity.

    I know that feeling, I’ve made my own team last year April 16th, 2021. I named Excelsior United and recruited few players. The first season almost made it to playoffs in 8th place and suddenly went down to 15th place in the first season few wins and more losses. through the year my teammate is very talented not gonna lie, it just the chemistry that I need to improved. My team is still considering amateur not ready for semi-pro yet until we make it through more phases. It frustrate me a lot, and almost giving up as an owner but gotta remember how I started before and continues to grind. My team is going to be champions one day.
    In conclude, never give up. No matter how tough the year is.

    It was wrong what they did to Dover. The fair play rules were brought in because a couple of clubs went bust to gain an unfair advantage. It’s funny how Jim Parmenter doesn’t talk about the fact that Dover were one of the clubs that heavily benefited from the funding during Covid whilst some other clubs who had 5 times the average attendance compared to Dover barely received anything. As good as the documentary is, it really doesn’t give us all the facts about the impact Parmenter (who was on the board for the National League) and other members of the board had on the grants distributions. Their actions actually put a lot of clubs at risk of going out of business when the emergency funding was distributed. This is meant to make people feel sorry for Parmenter but if you know all and ins and outs, you’d change your mind very quickly.

    Couldn't agree more in regards to how the money situation in English football is totally messed up. Being a Millwall fan which in comparison to Dover are doing far better in terms of finances but even in the Championship you have related clubs coming down with parachute payments who then almost always go straight back up and if not in season 1 they will be back up within 3 seasons. This cycle has been going on for over a decade now and we have clubs being brought, dodging FFP rules and dominating not because they have some magic football tactical skills but because they can buy the very best. Those clubs at the top should have a certain % of the incoming money going down to all clubs right down to the lower leagues.

    seems fitting the club is struggling financially when the chairman and manager are wearing rolex’s and driving bentleys 🤦‍♂️

    • @wiskasIO
      @wiskasIO Рік тому +1

      It's more of a passion enterprise than a good business model, especially the smaller the club is. I used to own a club in Mexico and we never were profitable, it cost me a fortune just to break even over the years. It's also a vicious cycle once the results don't show up the attendance decreases just when you need money the most.

      @loading9110 Рік тому +2

      The Chairman also spent 120k on new floodlights. 50k every year on a new pitch and 500k on the new family Stand. He has also paid the players and staff wages out of his own pocket as recently as December 2022 when we only had 2 home games in 28 days. Who gives a shit if he drives a Bentley.

    On that "non winning" aspect, I recommend Copa90 and the whole world to look into Íbis here in Brazil.
    A very small club created and mantained by a family for 80 years or so, with a super small fanbase. Probably the only club in the World that is regional and has a massive engagement on their social media, because they decided to make joke out of their own losses and misfortune. And the misfortune of others in the process, they challenge everyone that loses a game they're really not supposed to or has a bad season. Chelsea was the most recent challenge.
    They are still the record holders of longest spell without a win, 3 years and 11 months between 1980 and 1984. Their mascot is called "Derrotinha" (the name means Small Defeat). Winning is something to be ashamed of over there, and when it happens, the social media blows up with calls for protests. That rule has exceptions however.
    They are from the metro area of Recife, the 2nd biggest city in the northeast region of Brazil. Recife itself has three clubs with a good amount of fans: Sport, Santa Cruz and Náutico. Santa Cruz right now is on a horrible, terrible spell. Let's say that they were in hell, climbed up to heaven and went straight back (as in from the 4th national division to the first and back to the 4th, in a decade). As is the rule in many brazilian clubs, the board is composed by a ton of bloodsuckers.
    Íbis defeated them in the state championship this year. It was the first time ever their fanbase were escorted out of a stadium by the cops.

    Between watching this and the Gate Money Documentary, my conclusion is you relegated yourselves. I feel sorry for the Dover fans for watching a season end with only 1 point to show (after deductions) but that doesn't forgive you taking from other clubs.
